Without the generosity of the strangers who donated their blood, she wouldn’t be here, and neither would I for that matter! It’s something I think about often, and speaking with the mother of a little Sunshine Coast girl who is kept alive thanks to regular plasma infusions, I have been reminded yet again how special donors are and how something that takes just 10 minutes can save the lives of up to three people! Coast home prices to jump

$100,000 Construction cost rises, global pressures and labour shortages are causing the price of new builds to blow out, leading to further price increases on Sunshine Coast homes. WORDS: Kat Donaghey.

onstruction costs have undergone their highest-ever increase, which could push up the price of new and existing homes on the Sunshine Coast by another $100,000, an economist has predicted. The construction industry is facing a major supply crisis that has forced many builders to down tools. Ray White chief economist Nerida Conisbee says construction costs are up nine per cent, the largest increase on record (excluding the year the GST was introduced). Construction industry insolvencies were up 30 per cent over a 12-month period. As Sunshine Coast News reported recently, the uncertainty of quoting jobs has led Jason Bowker, of Maroochydorebased Planet Homes, to temporarily walk away from his business, which has a $6 million annual turnover. Mr Bowker says due to COVID-driven global factors there is no longer certainty of price when securing materials and labour and it has become impossible to keep up with relentless cost hikes.

Ms Conisbee says the industry is facing numerous challenges that will have flow-on effects to established house prices, which already exploded during the pandemic. The median house price on the Sunshine Coast is now $1.108 million, the secondhighest in the country behind Sydney and ahead of Canberra. Ms Conisbee predicts Coast home prices could surge at least another nine per cent – but likely more – to account for the extra cost of building, which will also affect existing homes. This equates to an increase of $100,000 based on the current median, pushing it up to $1.208 million. “For a new build it would be nine per cent, but in reality it’s more because of situations like builders not going ahead, backlogs of projects and infrastructure,” she says. The issues contributing to the problem include price hikes, labour shortages, supply chain blockages, the war in Ukraine and the bushfires of 2019/20. Ms Conisbee says demand for established houses will also rise as more people opt to avoid the uncertainties of building. “Rising construction costs mean that fewer homes will be built. This is partly because of the difficulty in accessing both

materials and labour – homes that are in the pipeline to be built will be delayed, in some cases indefinitely. “This makes a new home more expensive. The slowdown in getting a new home, as well as rising construction costs, will also mean that people who would have otherwise looked at buying a new home will look to the existing market.” She anticipates the industry’s problems will not be resolved within the next 12 months because “it’s not an easy thing to fix. It’s a big problem; it’s not enough just to throw money at it.” Ms Conisbee says the best way to fix

housing affordability is to ensure there are enough homes for people to live in. REIQ Sunshine Coast zone chair Matt Diesel says one of the biggest problems on the Coast is the lack of new product coming out of the ground, both now and into the near future. This is exacerbating the significant imbalance between demand and supply, unlike in the capital cities like Sydney and Melbourne where supply and demand are “keeping in check and prices have evened out to come degree”. Mr Diesel says on the Sunshine Coast there has been “no let up” in demand and locals have been taken completely by surprise by rising prices. But it is an upwards price correction that the property industry has been anticipating for years because the Coast has not experienced a surge since 2009 and has missed out on 2.5 property cycles since that period. “We were flatlined for such a long time so we knew this was coming and that we would not have enough product to keep up with it,” Mr Diesel says. “Sydney and Melbourne had two property cycles that we sat out. Now it’s just overdue property cycles and we’ve caught up where we should be.” Mr Diesel says factors driving demand are lifestyle and house prices here which southern buyers still consider “ridiculously cheap”. “I don’t see a correction; I see a flattening and days on the market will stretch out and there may not be as many buyers, unlike in October/November when we had 100 people through an open house. “It’s gone from nuts to normal.”

The gift M of life

arleigh Fisher looks like any other happy six-year-old girl. She loves going to school, playing with her friends and attending ballet classes. But there is much more to this brave little girl than meets the eye. Diagnosed with a chronic autoimmune disorder when she was just three years old, Marleigh is being kept alive thanks to the generosity of complete strangers who roll up their sleeves regularly to donate their plasma. Her mum Kate says without regular infusions of the liquid gold blood product, Marleigh simply would not be here. “Marleigh was a normal happy, healthy kid until she was about three and started having what we now know are absent seizures,” Kate says. “They got progressively worse and we started to get very concerned when her development started regressing, including her speech and gross motor skills. She went from a typical busy three-year-old to

not being able to walk, talk or even hold a spoon to her mouth.” Marleigh was eventually diagnosed with autoimmune encephalitis and epilepsy, which means her immune system identifies her healthy brain cells as foreign and attacks them. This results in brain inflammation and prolonged seizure activity. “Her seizures can be anything from every few weeks to every few hours. They can last anywhere from a few seconds to her current record seizure, which lasted 39 hours,” Kate says. Due to the autoimmune nature of her condition, Marleigh does not respond to anticonvulsant medications in the same way as someone with epilepsy does.

Kate and Geoff Fisher with their children Marleigh, Campbell and Thomas However, doctors discovered what does help control her condition is regular intravenous immunoglobulin infusion (commonly referred to as IVIg). “IVIg is a solution of human plasma proteins with a broad spectrum of antibody activity and is prepared from large pools of human plasma collected from thousands of donors,” Kate says. “When Marleigh has an acute auto immune encephalitis relapse, those

plasma infusions are life saving and her regular infusions are life preserving. It’s not just about keeping her alive, it’s about improving her life and making sure she lives her best years while she’s got them. “It keeps a little sister with her big brothers. It keeps her stable enough to go to ballet lessons once a week. It has given her the opportunity to blow out the candles on three more birthday cakes.” myweeklypreview.com.au

COVER STORY In the lead-up to the first anniversary of Marleigh’s first airlift to a paediatric intensive care unit in a critical condition, Kate created a Lifeblood team called Milkshakes for Marleigh, with the aim of recruiting 100 new plasma donors in 100 days from across Australia. “I wanted to do something special to celebrate her life and the donors who kept her alive,” Kate says. “Our doctors had prepared us for the reality that she may die. What saved her life was IVIg, generously donated by Australian plasma donors.” Kate also launched a podcast of the same name to share not only Marleigh’s story, but also the incredible stories of many other blood recipients whose lives have been saved thanks to the generosity of donors. “Part of it is her legacy story because we don’t know how much time she has got. We don’t want other families to go through what we have; we don’t ever want another family sitting there waiting to see if the blood products are available to keep their child alive. “We’ve been astounded by the Sunshine Coast community and we have had lots of new donors join up. The world can be a scary place, but this is something you can do, and you know you are likely saving someone’s life by giving an hour of your time.”

One in three people will need blood or blood products in their lifetime, and National Blood Donor Week (June 13 to June 19) is an opportunity to acknowledge the special community who save the lives of 1.5 million patients across Australia every year. It takes just an hour of your time to donate blood and one donation can save up to three lives. On the Sunshine Coast, 11,500 local donors are the lifeblood of our community and according to Lifeblood spokesperson Rebecca Ind, “it’s because of these ordinary people who do an extraordinary thing that Australian patients receive the gift of life”. “National Blood Donor Week is an opportunity to recognise the Sunshine Coast’s donors and inspire others,” Ms Ind says. “Lifeblood needs 140,000 more people to join the community of blood donors who save the lives of 1.5 million patients across Australia every year. “From cancer patients to road trauma victims, people with blood disorders, surgical patients and new mums – blood is needed somewhere in Australia every 18 seconds.” If donating blood is something you have considered but have put on the back burner, due to a fear of needles or simply not knowing what to expect, you are not alone. However, according to Ms Ind, 95 per cent of all first-time donors tell her it was much easier than they thought. “Most of our experiences with needles is to do with blood tests and hospitals and being unwell, but most donors will tell you giving blood is a completely different experience. We have healthy people who are coming into the centres to freely give their time to donate blood to people in need. It’s a really rewarding experience,” Ms Ind says. She says other barriers might be due to information people may have received many years ago that affected their

Make sure you have two litres of water the day before (2.5 litres for men) and 750mls the day of your donation.

It takes five minutes over the phone with Lifeblood or by taking a simple test on our website.” Ms Ind says winter is often a time when Lifeblood experiences a drop in blood donations due to donors becoming unwell with colds and flu, however, it’s also a time when they see an increase in the need for blood and blood products. “Winter is our most challenging time of year. Around 34 per cent of donated blood is used to treat patients with cancer or leukaemia. n increase in Queensland youth presenting to mental health services is prompting a local doctor to streamline the region’s pathway to gaining support. Dr Rachel Taylor is devising a plan to merge adolescent mental and adult health services to create a much smoother process for patients and families experiencing a health crisis. The clinical psychiatrist says there has been a 469 per cent increase of 12- to 25-year-olds presenting to public hospitals across Queensland, which includes hospitals on the Sunshine Coast. “I am aware of models of care where mental health and adult health services are co-located in the hospital,” Dr Taylor says. “This model also incorporates education, employment and drug and alcohol agencies, and it’s really giving people a one-stop shop. “It would be great if patients won’t need to go all over the Coast to have their needs met.” To address this, Dr Taylor is working with hospital charity Wishlist to fund a nurse position as part of the Adolescent and Young Adults (AYA) program.

A new attractive streetscape will soon transform the tired older section of First Avenue, Maroochydore, into a vibrant, shady and inclusive link between the Maroochydore City Centre (CBD), Cotton Tree and Ocean Street. The upgrade will provide businesses, residents and visitors with a more inviting space to live, work and play. The major streetscape upgrade is ready for construction later this year and is being delivered as part of the Streetscape Capital Works Program. “The streetscape design will link this section of First Avenue with the new First Avenue extension into the CBD, Aerodrome Road, The Esplanade and Duporth Avenue,” Sunshine Coast Councillor Peter Cox says. “The upgrade is all about improving the built urban environment with shaded and attractive open space to conduct business, enjoy the local restaurants and actively move about more safely and efficiently.”

COMMUNITY CALLS FOR ROAD FUNDING

All state schools in Queensland will have the opportunity to receive a Dignity Vending Machine, which provides free period products to students. This is thanks to a $13.3 million investment in the upcoming state budget and builds on an initial program in 2020 to deliver the machines to 120 schools. “Access to period products and misplaced stigma around periods should never be issues students face at school,” Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says. “We know providing access to free period products can make a real difference, especially for students whose families are doing it tough, have unstable accommodation or are fleeing domestic and family violence.”

A community campaign has been launched to fast-track road upgrades at a dangerous section of the Sunshine Motorway. Ninderry MP Dan Purdie and community leaders are urging the state government to improve safety and cut congestion at Coolum after a spate of recent accidents, including a fatality. Mr Purdie says fixing the Sunshine Motorway roundabout at the Yandina Coolum Road exit, as well as the nearby roundabout at School Road, which often causes major congestion at pick-up and drop-off times, is a priority. Sunshine Coast business Zone RV is well on the way to becoming a leader in manufacturing stronger and safer off-road caravans, thanks to a Made in Queensland grant of more than $1.4 million. businesses protect their clients’ personal data in the face of the worsening threat of cyber attacks. “It’s predicted that a ransomware attack … will take place every two seconds within the next 10 years, so it’s essential that businesses keep track of their vulnerabilities,” Mr Stowasser says. “The idea came about after speaking to a friend and cyber security consultant. “He casually mentioned it would be great to have a service that condensed all the CVE alerts he received from multiple vendors into one email.”

IRON ORE SECTOR Global markets continue to be volatile. We are seeing a tightening in monetary policy from central banks and contractionary fiscal policy by governments as they take action to control inflation. Over the next six months, supply chains and spending should normalise, helping reduce inflation. In time, we should see clearer corporate valuations and what a post COVID-19 market and economy looks like. One of the key inflation contributors is the acceleration in raw commodity prices. This has hurt our back pocket, from fuelling up at our local petrol bowser or purchasing a rib-eye steak at our local butcher. Some companies, industries and economies have benefited from this acceleration, with Australia and its iron ore producers a prime example. Over the past two years, our iron ore producers have benefited from global infrastructure

programs and steel production, all while their cost of production has stayed relatively steady in comparison with the increase in prices and volumes. What does Ord Minnett expect from this sector? China steel output accelerated in March to 1040 million tonnes per year, up six per cent month-on-month but down six per cent year-on-year. China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) data through April shows a further pickup, despite widespread COVID-19- related lockdowns. Steel inventory is below 2020-21 levels and port iron ore inventory is falling. Price support is likely to depend on the duration of China’s zero-COVID policy. However, an eventual easing of lockdowns could be a precursor to future rounds of policy support to enable China’s 5.5 per cent GDP growth ambitions (OML economists forecast 4.3 per cent growth in 2022). Our iron ore price forecasts remain at $US139 (about $200) per tonne and $US105 per tonne in 2022 and 2023, respectively. young innovator is being recognised nationally for his success in turning an old bike into repurposed sensory playground equipment for children. Matthew Flinders Anglican College Year 10 design student Nick Reed has won the inaugural Monash Design Prize, receiving $1000 in cash and a two-week internship at its Melbourne university. Nick created the prototype as part of a hands-on Flinders design challenge where students from Years seven to 12 engaged in design using problem solving, critical thinking, collaborating, communicating, evaluating and refining. His teachers then encouraged him to submit his design for the prize. Monash University’s Department of Design head, Associate Professor Gene Bawden, says the judges were impressed with Nick’s design as it “responded to both environmental and social concerns and

addressed our ‘design for good’ philosophy. [Nick] resolved these issues through a cohesive and productive design solution that would both reduce waste in landfill and increase the wellbeing of children in disadvantaged communities.” Nick hopes to complete his internship during the September holidays, and can choose to work in the Monash Design Health Collab or the Mobility Design Lab. The Monash Design Health Collab uses people-centred design to create significant healthcare services and products. The Mobility Design Lab involves design researchers at the forefront of designdriven, industry-relevant solutions to improve the physical, environmental and experiential aspects of mobility. “I’m interested in the process a product goes through from concept to completion and this internship will give me an opportunity to explore the product journey more closely,” Nick says. “I’m most looking

forward to delving further into the design thinking process, identifying problems and developing creative solutions.” But Nick isn’t the only innovative Flinders student – Year nine students Tyler Cuttill, Amy Morrison and Bethany Slocombe recently won the gen[in] Student Innovation Challenge at the University of Queensland. The team’s design prototype, The Orbital Caddy, is a rotating shelf system inspired by the Ferris wheel and partly constructed with recycled plastics to tackle environmental waste. Their design aims to solve a problem for people who have trouble easily and safely accessing shelving. Forming the idea during the cocurricular Flinders Innovation Club, the team noticed a gap in safety when accessing hard-to-reach shelving. “Our design prototype for The Orbital Caddy allows the elderly, people in wheelchairs, visually impaired people and anyone who generally struggles to access items that are being stored to do so without the risk of injury,” Tyler says. “Even children will benefit from our idea.”

Several Sunshine Coast communities are set to benefit from new public transport investment in the region. Member for Caloundra Jason Hunt says five bus routes in four locations will be extended or rerouted this year, connecting locals with public transport for the first time. “Meridan Plains and Bli Bli locals are set to experience new bus services with routes 611 and 612 being expanded from July 11 to service new areas for the first time,” Mr Hunt says. “An extension of bus services into rapidly developing Palmview is planned for later this year, providing Harmony estate residents with access to a bus service for the first time, and supporting future estates to be developed in the planned community.” Routes 614 and 619 in Maroochydore will also be realigned later this year, nine new bus stops will be built along route 612, and two new bus stops will be built on Woodlands Boulevard in Kawana Forest estate. incident, and often the one who feels slighted just can’t let it go. It manifests as rude gestures and swearing but has also led to damaging a vehicle, assaulting a driver and even murder – all in retaliation for something usually innocuous and unintentional. Sometimes it is in response to no error at all: the rager is just mad and wants to take it out on somebody, anybody at all. The incidents have become so frequent they have become normalised. We might be rattled by it, but road rage’s intrusion into our drives is not unexpected. Telling a road rage tale barely raises an eyebrow anymore. Some people must wake up angry, and their simmering irritation cranks up to a rolling boil the moment they have to accommodate another road user. Insurance giant Budget Direct’s annual road rage report last year showed 45 per cent of those surveyed nationally admitted to showing signs of aggression towards another road user in the previous year and about 72 per cent had another driver shout, swear or rudely gesture at them. It can’t go on. People need to learn to breathe and let stuff go. The roads are no place for making enemies of strangers.

I judged I had ample time and distance – and both would have been true had Mr Cranky Pants not been in the middle of an attempt to break the land speed record. My heart pounded at the traffic light, willing it to turn green. Mercifully, it did and we moved on. He swerved around me as soon as he was able and swore out his window. I stared straight ahead and exhaled slowly as he passed. Don’t feed the animal, I mumbled to myself. Why do so many Sunshine Coast drivers have lit fuses? Road rage is the unacceptable retaliation to road user behaviour that might be as simple as accidentally cutting someone off or slowing at an orange light instead of blowing on through. The response is not proportionate with the

very year around this time I write about how the Nambour Show has a special place in my heart as my dad died on the Saturday of the show. This year they tricked me as the show is a week earlier than normal, so as you read this it’s over and hopefully it was a resounding success. So usually I would have gone into the circumstances of Dad’s death but instead I thought I would share some advice, a bit like a Dear Dorothy Dix letter. Now here is the thing – the night he died I got a call from a mate of his to get to the hospital and I remember very clearly that I knew he was gone way before I got there and I kept saying to my dear wife that there were so many things I wished I had said to him, did with him and shared with him and now it is too late. I was right. It was 1984, he was 66 and I was 26 and he was gone from my life. No hint it was going to happen, just gone. The really sad thing is I couldn’t remember then and can’t remember now the last conversation we had or the last thing we did together. Now I want to be clear, this is not a

column about people feeling sorry for me. I am sharing this for the complete opposite reason, to remind people it can happen to you anytime with no warning. Don’t make the mistakes I made or in fact Len Robinson did as well, leaving things unsaid, both ways. If it’s someone close to you – a parent, a child, a partner or even a close friend – tell them you love them and appreciate them because you never know what’s around the corner. If you have a disagreement, sort it. Do not let it be unresolved, as it may be the very last time you see them or they see you. “I don’t regret the things I have done, I regret the things I didn’t do when I had the chance” is a well worn saying that I should be the author of. So folks don’t be like me and have regrets, like every time I hear Harry Chapin’s Cat’s in the Cradle I think of my dad after the last verse, “And the cat’s in the cradle and the silver spoon; little boy blue and the man in the moon; When you coming home, son? I don’t know when; but we’ll get together then, dad; we’re gonna have a good time then.” HL Robinson August 17, 1917 to June 16, 1984, RIP.

THIRD TIME LUCKY? Prince Louis’ Platinum Jubilee antics have Sami Muirhead wondering if all third children have a ‘spirited’ nature.

nd just like that many of us fell in love with Prince Louis of Cambridge. He is my favourite kid. And I have three of my own! The four-year-old was the shining light at the Queen’s star-studded Platinum Jubilee celebrations with his cheeky faces and hilarious antics. The Queen looked adoringly at the little rogue as they stood on that famous balcony. His gorgeous mother, Kate, had THAT look of a tolerant but doting parent as he pulled on her glossy locks and bewitched all of us with his terrific facial expressions. I do note the third child is often the most spirited one in the family. Our own third child, Augie, is the firecracker of our clan. He is by far the most confident of my kids and the craziest. But he is also charming and the light of our lives. He slept in the hallway last birthday when he was six because he wanted to get an early start on turning seven. I have no doubt I am less strict on Augie than I was on my other two because I’m really tired. Being a parent is wonderful but it wears you down! I also feel that free range kids are fine and maybe even thrive compared with those raised by helicopter parents. I have been both.

I asked some of my buddies what they think of my theory that the third child is always a bit naughty. Ellie is my mate and happens to be a third child. “Third kids are always the loosest because the pressure is well and truly off,” she says. “Unless by some chance the first two kids are total duds then your parents already have a child to brag about at dinner parties and be proud of so the third kid can just fly quietly under the radar. My eldest brother? A lawyer. So Mum and Dad were set. The second brother? A teacher! A shaper of young minds. Double tick! Me? I make a living out of playing fart sound effects on radio and playing Justin Beiber. See? Pressure off.” I turned to my friend Tamara who has three children. The youngest is a little larrikin with a flop of golden hair called Luc. “Luc sees a busker with a guitar case of coins or a person with a bowl out and asks if he can TAKE some of the money,” Tamara says. “The buskers are usually too polite to say no to this cheeky request. “He is also the kid that pushes the big red button on the elevator and stops it. Fun times!” adds Tamara. Third kids – they really are the triple treat in life.

Laser treatment for glaucoma SLT (selective laser trabeculoplasty) is a highly precise and gentle laser treatment, used in the non-surgical treatment of elevated eye pressure. It is targeted at patients with glaucoma or the precursor to it, a condition called ocular hypertension. Current research supports the use of SLT as first-line treatment. SLT is an efficient in-office procedure and takes up to 10 minutes. The eye is prepped with a pressure-lowering and numbing drop. A lens is then placed on the eye to keep it steady and assist in laser delivery. Laser energy is applied in rapid succession, treating up to 360 degrees of the drainage angle of the eye. This results is an inflammatory response, assisting fluid outflow and reducing the eye pressure. SLT treatment may take up to three months to demonstrate a response. These results can last up to three years and the procedure can be repeated. Up to 25 per cent of patients may demonstrate a limited response, necessitating additional treatment. The nerves in the spine run down a central canal and exit through openings between the vertebrae called foramen. When these openings become narrow, due to ageing, osteoarthritis, injury, trauma, disc herniation or general wear and tear, patients can experience symptoms such as numbness, weakness and pain. This narrowing is most common in the cervical spine, affecting the upper limbs, and in the lumbar spine, affecting the lower limbs. Usually, spinal canal stenosis can be treated with minimally invasive surgery to decompress the spinal canal, creating more space for the nerves to pass through. This type of surgery is particularly effective in reducing symptoms associated with the compressed nerve, such as pain in the arms and fingers as well sciatica symptoms in the legs and feet. SHOCK EXODUS EXPOSES WORRYING TREND A leading demographer has a stark warning for the Sunshine Coast as the labour force shrinks while the population grows. WORDS: Kat Donaghey.

he region’s workforce has shrunk by 3000 over the past two years despite a population surge, in a disturbing trend a leading demographer says he’s never seen before. Bernard Salt reviewed the Sunshine Coast and Noosa’s labour force data and uncovered a “stark” drop in the workforce. It fell from 191,000 in February 2020 to 188,000 in February 2022, despite an estimated population growth of 11,200. Mr Salt fears a lack of affordable housing is forcing young workers, particularly in the hospitality industry, away from our region. He also warns that if the exodus is not addressed, the Sunshine Coast will turn into an upmarket enclave just for rich retirees and “knowledge workers”. Mr Salt says the Sunshine Coast and Noosa region’s workforce has “not increased much” over the past decade, but the more worrying trend is the decline the past two years. “It’s really quite stark when you look at it. For some reason the Gold Coast is attracting workers at a disproportionately higher rate and the Sunshine Coast is not,” he says.

Mr Salt warns it is having a crippling effect on employers, especially in retail, forcing shops and restaurants to shut or cut back service. This jobs decline is happening while the population is still growing, which he suggests is mostly rich retirees moving from interstate. “I haven’t seen anything like this in 30 years and I haven’t seen anything like this in a demographic sense in the post-war era,” he says. “There’s a real problem. Why isn’t the workforce increasing?” Mr Salt warns the region is losing its “muscle” by failing to hang on to, or attract, young workers in the 18 to 35 age bracket. He says at best the region is “static” or “slacklining” but whichever way you look at the numbers, it is not good. Mr Salt says something is driving young people away and he suspects it is likely to be the lack of affordable housing. “I’m coming around to the view that this might be a housing issue,” he says. He says the numbers paint a picture of what the impact is on the ground, such as restaurants forced to use apps instead of waiters. “When I see figures like this, I know

You need people on the ground.” Mr Salt says the region is facing a “control, alt, delete” moment when it would have to consider the type of place it wanted to be. “Do you want the Sunshine Coast to be an upmarket enclave just for knowledge workers or do you want demographic diversity,” he asks. “Can people come there with nothing and work as a waiter and then work their way up until they own their own restaurant?” At the moment, he says, the region is attracting “rich retirees that don’t go to work, but go to restaurants and say ‘Why aren’t there waiters?’. “Because the waiters can’t afford to live there.” Mr Salt says it is time for a conversation about “inclusivity” and how to “provide pathways to participation in the Sunshine Coast lifestyle”.

This month there have been four $2 million sales in the street. “This shows that people are not afraid to pay reasonable prices for reasonable houses,” Mr Van den Dungen says. There were a number of interested parties, however, the owners wished to conduct an unconditional sale and the future owners were able to offer that on the day.

QUALITY EQUALS VIEW Ray White agent Niall Molloy says the selling price of $1,360,000 for a unit proves quality pays. The three-bedroom property at 2608/100 Duporth Avenue, Maroochydore, kept its value despite the fact it will lose a good deal of its view due to the construction of an upcoming complex. Mr Molloy says the unit’s price highlights the enduring qualities of a good position and neighbourhood. “It also had good facilities and was built by a well-known developer,” he says. There were three registered bidders, and it was sold to a Brisbane family who are regular visitors to the Sunshine Coast.

With Indonesia opening up, there is a great swell about to hit – six to eight feet everywhere and no wind. Maybe check conditions for travel.
