From Survival Mode to Thriving:

Austin Mom Launches Wellness App Built on Neuroscience and Her Own Comeback Story

F

or years, Laura Hartnett spent her days helping women feel beautiful on the outside. As a hairstylist, she listened to countless stories from women who looked like they had everything together but privately felt exhausted, overwhelmed, and disconnected from themselves.

That belief became the foundation for GlowGal, a women’s wellness membership app designed to help women move from burnout to purpose through practical, science-backed tools.

What she didn’t realize at the time was that she was living the same story.

Women’s burnout has become an increasingly common reality as many juggle careers, caregiving, relationships, and the invisible mental load that often goes unnoticed. Hartnett believes lasting transformation begins by addressing the root causes instead of simply managing the symptoms.

After a difficult divorce, Hartnett found herself rebuilding nearly every part of her life. As a single mother of five in Austin, she was navigating financial uncertainty, raising her children, and trying to rediscover who she was beyond simply surviving each day. Then, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, she took a leap that many considered impossible: opening a salon. Against the odds, the business became profitable in its first year. While the salon was successful, Hartnett realized the greatest transformation wasn’t happening in her business—it was happening within herself. She immersed herself in the study of neuroscience and neuroplasticity, becoming certified as a Neuroscience and Neuroplasticity Coach. What fascinated her most was learning that the brain can be rewired. The habits, thought patterns, and emotional responses that keep people stuck are not permanent— they can change. “I know what it feels like to live in survival mode,” Hartnett says. “But I also learned that healing isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about reconnecting with the person you were always created to be.”

support long-term emotional wellness and personal growth. Hartnett built the entire platform as a non-technical solo founder while continuing to work behind the chair as a hairstylist and raising her children. What began as her own roadmap out of survival gradually became something she believed could help other women reclaim their lives as well.

GlowGal’s signature framework guides members through a journey from immediate burnout relief to deeper identity transformation using neuroscience-based strategies that help create lasting behavioral change. Membership starts at $27 per month, making personal development more accessible than traditional one-on-one coaching. For Hartnett, GlowGal represents something much bigger than an app.

Available on both iOS and Android, GlowGal combines guided courses, an encouraging community, and an AI wellness companion called Ask GlowGal to help women apply what they’re learning in everyday life. Rather than offering quick fixes or endless motivation, the app focuses on creating sustainable habits that

“It’s proof that our hardest seasons don’t have to define us,” she says. “Sometimes they’re preparing us to build the very thing we once needed ourselves.” GlowGal is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play. Learn more at GlowGalMethod.com or follow @GlowGalMethod on Instagram.

More Than a Roof:

Building a Business with Purpose By Leslie LaGuardia

W

hen a storm damages a roof, the problem is rarely just the roof.

For a homeowner, a leak can bring uncertainty, financial stress and a long list of questions. Is the damage serious? Can it be repaired? Will insurance cover it? Who can be trusted to do the work correctly? In a moment when people often feel vulnerable, finding the right person to answer those questions can matter just as much as the roof itself. That understanding is at the heart of Cool Roofs, founded in 2017 with a vision that extends well beyond installing shingles. For its founder, Colt Moncla, the company was born from years of experiences—some successful, others less so— that ultimately led to an opportunity to build something of his own. Having first

encountered the roofing industry while working in sales during college, he saw enormous potential in the business, but he also saw a need for something more: professionalism, education, leadership and, above all, integrity. The goal was to build a company that would be there for the long haul. “We don’t look at roofing as a money grab,” Montcla explains. “We look at it as a localized community effort.” That philosophy has shaped the company’s approach from the beginning. Rather than viewing every customer as a sale, Cool Roofs sees every project as an opportunity to educate. The process begins by understanding the problem, explaining what is happening and then helping the customer determine the right solution.

Sometimes that means replacing a roof. Sometimes it means making a repair that can extend the life of an existing system. The distinction matters. “I’d rather earn someone’s trust for the next 10 or 20 years than sell them something today that they don’t actually need,” Colt Moncla states. It is a simple philosophy, but one that reflects a larger belief: people make better decisions when they have the knowledge to make them confidently. That commitment to education extends to the company’s own team. Employees are continually trained in roofing systems, manufacturer specifications, warranties, building requirements and installation practices. The objective is not

simply to teach people how to sell a roof, but to equip them to become trusted advisors. That emphasis on trust is particularly meaningful in an industry where the barrier to entry can be low and severe Texas weather can create a sudden influx of contractors. Cool Roofs has responded by setting its own standards for training, certification, insurance, safety and professionalism. But perhaps the most meaningful measure of the company’s values can be found outside the jobsite.

Through its relationship with the Best Day Ever Foundation, Cool Roofs discovered an opportunity to use its expertise to help a family facing circumstances far more difficult than a damaged roof. Brittany Anderson and her son, Braxton, were already navigating the challenges of his hemophilia and frequent trips to St. Jude when a storm damaged their home. The family needed help, but the cost of repairing the roof was more than they could manage. When Brittany reached out to Cool Roofs, she wasn’t asking for a new roof. She simply hoped someone might help stop the water from coming into her home. The response was different. Cool

Roofs, together

including CertainTeed and SRS, ultimately gifted the family a complete roof replacement. For the company’s founder, the experience became a powerful reminder of what business can mean when success is measured in something more than revenue.

challenges itself to meet. Ultimately, Colt Moncla says, legacy is the goal.

“Sometimes the best thing you can give someone isn’t just a roof,” Colt says. “It’s the peace of mind of knowing that, when life gets difficult, somebody else has their back.”

Years from now, people may not remember how many roofs Cool Roofs installed or how many markets it entered. But they may remember that the company showed up when they needed help. They may remember the careers it created, the families it supported, the customers it educated and the communities it served.

That sentiment captures the larger philosophy behind Cool Roofs. Philanthropy, he believes, is not simply about writing a

whose growth makes life better for the people around it.

It is also about recognizing that success creates responsibility. As Cool Roofs grows, the vision is not simply to install more roofs or enter more markets. It is to create careers, develop leaders, support families and become a meaningful part of every community the company enters. The company’s core values are reflected in the acronym ACQUIRE: Appreciation, Commitment, Quality, Unity, Integrity, Relationships and Excellence. They represent more than words on a wall. rippiez is a chain of gift, accessory, and smoke shops with five locations throughout the Austin area, the average spend being around $20-$25. Trippiez started as a family business and has been kept thriving by a father, his son, and a close cousin. Trippiez has been operating since July of 2021. However, two of their locations were up and operating under different names since 2018, before the decision to brand all of the locations by the same name. Aside from tobacco products, Trippiez also provides a very wide selection of hemp products from vapes to edibles. They also carry products like artisan scented candles, handcrafted jewelry, and art by local artists. Trippiez is more than your average smoke shop, though. It is a place where like-minded people go to shop and engage in niceties with one another while conversing and exchanging ideas. “We don’t really see ourselves as smoke shops as much as we are members of our community and neighborhood,” explains Ahmad Alnajjar, co-owner of Trippiez. “We have close relationships with our customers, sometimes customers are asking our employees to hang out after work. Other small business owners near us like to hang out for a few minutes after they purchase something because they see us as a neighbor more than a shop.”

10

The reputation for being a safe haven for free thought, coupled with their open-door policy and excellent customer service is something that has served Trippiez well. Trippiez is also as loyal to their customers as their customers are to them. Their loyalty program is a 5% cash back reward for each dollar the customer spends. Customers sign up with a phone number or email, and with each purchase they add a dollar amount to their account; cash they can redeem at any time.

They also provide “buy two” discounts: two vapes that are $20 each will sell two for $35, and other ones that are $25 each will sell two for $40. With deals like these and the vibe they provide, Trippiez is living up to their company’s core values of empathy, community, and professionalism on the daily. MA

A MESSAGE FROM THE OWNER: “We are humans just like you. We love almost all of the same things, just like you. We love a good time, spending time with good people who respect us, and we are for the people. When you come to Trippiez, you’re our neighbor, not just our customer, you’re a part of a greater community of passionate individuals, who just want to enjoy life one day at a time with no bad trips.” -Ahmad Alnajjar

Lawyer Without Labels:

THE MANY SIDES OF MATTHEW KETTERMAN hardest moments of someone’s life and fight to make sure they’re heard.” That drive has made him not only a legal strategist but also a business builder. KRW’s expansion into innovative lead generation and its reputation for efficiency have positioned it as a forward-thinking firm in a historically traditional industry. KETTERMAN RANCH: WHERE VISION MEETS LEGACY While law is his foundation, Matthew’s entrepreneurial energy finds expression far beyond the courtroom. Nestled in the Texas Hill Country, Ketterman Ranch is more than a retreat — it’s a vision of heritage and exclusivity. With safari-style wildlife tours, luxury lodges, hunting experiences, and curated corporate retreats, the ranch operates as a private, members-only destination.

W

hen most people think of attorneys, they picture someone confined to the courtroom, bound by precedent and procedure. But for Matthew Ketterman, law is just one piece of a larger, more dynamic story — one that blends entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and family into a life without boundaries. FROM LAW TO LEADERSHIP As Managing Partner of KRW Lawyers, Matthew has helped build one of the nation’s premier firms in asbestos and mass tort litigation. Over the past 15 years, he has represented tens of thousands of clients across the United States, recovering more than $1 billion on their behalf. But for Matthew, the true measure of success isn’t just financial results — it’s the impact. “At its core, our work is about giving people a voice,” he says. “We step in during the

12

“I wanted to build a place that feels like Yellowstone meets the Four Seasons,” Matthew explains. “It’s about bringing people together — whether that’s families making memories, or executives building strategies for the future.” What began as a personal project has evolved into a full-scale brand, attracting high-profile guests, University of Texas athletic programs, and Fortune-level companies. The ranch embodies Matthew’s philosophy: if something is worth doing, it’s worth doing at the highest level. A HEART FOR PHILANTHROPY Matthew’s leadership extends into philanthropy. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Andy Roddick Foundation, supporting afterschool and summer programs that expand educational opportunities for underserved children. He also frequently donates his time and resources to University of Texas athletics and local causes, blending his personal passions with his civic commitment.

One of his most meaningful contributions is the creation of the Ketterman Family Chapel at LifeFamily Austin, a space designed for reflection, community, and worship. “Faith is a cornerstone for me and my family,” Matthew says. “The chapel is about giving people a place to gather, to heal, and to be inspired. That’s something that will outlast me.” BEYOND THE BOARDROOM For Matthew, life isn’t about being defined by a single title. He’s a lawyer, entrepreneur, rancher, investor, philanthropist, and most importantly, a husband and father of three young sons. From weeknight practices to weekend games, Matthew is always there in full support. Whether he’s developing innovative legal models or hosting a safari at the ranch, he approaches each role with the same focus: purpose and impact. That versatility is why “lawyer without labels” is more than just a theme, it’s his truth.

“I’ve never believed in staying inside the box,” Matthew reflects. “Life’s too short to be just one thing. If you have the vision, the drive, and the right people around you, you can build a life that’s bigger than any single title.” MATTHEW KETTERMAN krwlawyers.com kettermanranch.com

Brows By Sanna Le:

COMBINING ARTISTRY AND ENGINEERING TO CREATE BEAUTIFUL EYEBROWS

S

anna Le, a renowned Brows Artist in Leander, TX, has taken the beauty industry by storm with her unique approach to creating beautiful eyebrows. With her background in both architecture and interior design from the University of Architecture in Vietnam, Sanna Le developed a method that combines both precision and creativity to give her clients the perfect brows. While many believe the brow industry skyrocketed only in the last decade, you’d be surprised to know that brow enhancement techniques have been developed and continually updated since the 1920s - possibly even earlier. In 2026, those living with brow hair loss can choose from a variety of brow enhancement techniques depending on their preferences. For those who opt for permanent methods, brow tattoos and the nano hair stroke method used by Sanna Le, are the hottest on the market and offer their users beautiful natural brows, Sanna Le’s journey began when she realized her blueprint skills from architectural

design could be applied to the art of eyebrow shaping. She noticed that many people struggled to achieve symmetrical and well-defined brows, and she saw an opportunity to use her technical expertise to solve this problem. Combining her love for art and her architectural background, Sanna Le developed a method that takes into account facial structure, bone structure, and individual features to create brows tailored to each client.

master in the field of PMU. People wanting to learn her techniques using nano hair stroke technology in creating perfectly crafted eyebrows sign up to be apprentices in her shop. She gives one-on-one instruction with hands-on- training, using local models for her students to practice on under her strict guidance.

Nano hair stroke brows use a PMU (permanent makeup) tool to apply pigment to a shallow layer of skin. Similar to other procedures, results can last up to three years with proper aftercare and maintenance.

“I am thrilled to be able to use my education and skills to help people feel confident and beautiful,” says Sanna Le. “My goal is to enhance natural beauty and create brows that are unique to each individual. I am grateful for the positive response and support from my clients and the beauty industry.”

With nano blading, the technician applies the pigment with a single nano needle tool. This makes it far more precise than multi-needle procedures in microblading and results in soft, ultra-fine application. This procedure also involves far less pain than traditional microblading. “My eyebrows were sparse, uneven and started to get gray,” says Leslie L, one of Sanna Le’s clients. “My daughter gave me a gift certificate for Brows By Sanna Le for my birthday. I was nervous that it might be painful, but curious enough to give it a try. The pain at the most was a 3 out of 10. Actually, it was quite relaxing! I was so happy with the results I nearly cried!” says Leslie L. Sanna Le’s method has gained recognition in the beauty industry, with clients raving about the natural and flawless results. Her approach has also caught the attention of top beauty influencers and celebrities, who have become loyal clients of Brows By Sanna Le. Her social media posts and reels are extremely popular and she has received close to 200 5-star reviews. Sanna Le is also a certified trainer, a

KATE LINCOLN-GOLDFINCH, DEMOCRAT FOR TEXAS HOUSE DISTRICT 50 Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch is an immigration attorney who has made her life’s work fighting against the unjust tide of outdated and biased policy and legislation. Now, Kate is not only fighting in the courtroom, she’s leveraging her experience and her passion and running for office. We had the pleasure of speaking with Attorney Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch about her plans for the future, and the following is what she had to say. What made you decide to run for political office? After nearly twenty years standing beside families fighting to stay together, small business owners building their dreams, and neighbors navigating complex systems, I’ve seen up close how much policy matters. I’m running because Austin families deserve a representative who listens, leads with compassion, and fights for practical solutions – not political games. I’m not a politician; I’m a problem solver who’s ready to make government work for everyday Texans. What are some of the most important things you would do if you win this election? My priorities are rooted in people, not politics. I’ll focus on: • Expanding access to affordable healthcare and mental health resources. • Strengthening public schools and supporting teachers. • Protecting reproductive freedom and defending democracy in Texas. • Standing up for immigrants and small business owners who drive our local economy. • Ensuring Austin families can afford to live and thrive in the community they love. How does being an immigration attorney make you a great candidate for the position of House Representative? My work as an immigration attorney has been about navigating complicated laws and standing up for human dignity – skills that translate directly to policymaking. I’ve spent my career solving real problems for real

18

people, often when the system has failed them. I understand how policy impacts families at the ground level, and I know how to bring compassion, clarity, and persistence to complex challenges. What experiences have you had in your career that will help guide you during your campaign? Running a small business, leading a nonprofit, and advocating for families in crisis have taught me how to listen deeply, build coalitions, and find common ground. Founding my law firm and co-founding VECINA showed me the power of organizing communities to create change. Those experiences — plus raising two kids in Austin — keep me grounded in what matters most: people, fairness, and results. What are the biggest challenges you are facing with your campaign? Like many grassroots campaigns, our biggest challenge is cutting through the noise and reaching every voter in a district as diverse and fast-growing as HD-50. But that’s also our greatest strength — our volunteers, neighbors, and supporters are energized and ready to have honest conversations about the future of Texas. Will you continue to practice law while you are campaigning? My law firm has an incredible team that continues serving clients every day. During the campaign, my focus is on listening to our community and earning their trust, while ensuring that the families we serve through Lincoln-Goldfinch Law remain supported by our strong staff.

How do you feel about the way ICE is handling immigrants — legal and illegal? Our immigration system is broken and too often dehumanizing. ICE has operated with far too little accountability and compassion. We need policies that prioritize due process, family unity, and public safety over cruelty. Texans deserve a humane, orderly system that reflects our values and our history as a state built by immigrants. What advice do you have for someone who needs to become a legal citizen? First, don’t go it alone — talk to a trusted, licensed immigration attorney or accredited nonprofit organization. Every case is unique, and the law changes often. Seek credible legal advice, keep your documents safe, and never pay someone who guarantees results or isn’t authorized to practice law. Where can we visit one of your rallies? We’ll be hosting community meet-andgreets, and educational and volunteer events throughout House District 50 — from North Austin to Pflugerville. The best way to stay up to date is to visit KLGforTexas.com or follow @KLGforTexas on social media for the latest updates. Unidos We Rise For immigration inquiries, you can contact Lincoln-Goldfinch Law at 512-599-8500 or stop by their office at 1005 E. 40th Street, Austin, TX 78751

BUILDING BETTER

Why “Good Enough” Isn’t Good Enough for Austin By Donald and Shannon Spradling

W

hen people talk about what makes Austin special, they often mention the live music, the food, and that unmistakable creative spark that makes our city feel alive. But there’s another foundation — quite literally — that holds this place together: the homes, schools, and businesses built on Central Texas soil. As the owners of Spradling Engineering, we spend a lot of time examining how and why structures perform the way they do. Shannon, who manages our office operations, often joins me in reviewing projects and helping homeowners navigate complex construction issues. Together, we’ve seen the best and worst of what’s being built in and around Austin. Recently, I was involved in a court case where another engineer defended a flawed foundation by saying it was “consistent with local standards.” In other words, it wasn’t good — but it was no worse than what’s common around here. That reasoning should make all of us uneasy. When we accept “good enough,” we lower the bar for everyone — homeowners, builders, and the next generation who will inherit what we construct today. Foundations that aren’t properly designed or built may crack, shift, or leak over time. The cost of fixing those problems almost always falls on the homeowner, not the builder who cut corners. Austin’s growth is exciting, but it’s also a test of values. Are we building a city that lasts, or one that just looks finished from the street? Quality construction isn’t just about plans and permits; it’s

14

about accountability. Every builder, architect, and inspector has a part to play — but so do consumers. Asking the right questions about materials, soil conditions, and engineering design can make a world of difference before you sign on the dotted line. The good news is that better building practices aren’t out of reach. Many local professionals take real pride in their work and want to do things the right way. What they need is a culture that rewards quality, not speed. When homeowners demand higher standards, contractors rise to meet them. When engineers insist on durable, well-designed foundations, the whole community benefits. For us, Austin isn’t just where we work — it’s where we live, raise our family, and build our future. The city’s growth story is being written one foundation at a time, and we believe that story should stand the test of time. Because a solid foundation doesn’t just support a house — it supports trust. And in a city built on creativity and character, that’s something worth standing on. ABOUT THE AUTHORS Donald and Shannon Spradling are the husband-and-wife team behind Spradling Engineering, LLC, based in Georgetown, Texas. Donald is a licensed professional engineer specializing in forensic structural and civil investigations, while Shannon serves as the firm’s office manager. Together, they advocate for higher construction standards and integrity across Central Texas. A THOUGHTFUL APPROACH TOWARD RELIEF FROM VARICOSE AND SPIDER VEINS By Daryl K. Jones

V

ein care is a highly specialized field, and in a world where medicine can sometimes feel rushed or impersonal, Vein Treatment Clinic (powered by VIP Medical Group) takes pride in prioritizing a warm, welcoming experience while building real trust for patients suffering from spider and varicose veins or symptoms like leg pain, swelling, itching, cramping, and restless leg syndrome. Dr. Shane Volney, vein expert at the Vein Treatment Clinic stays current on the most modern advancements in chronic venous insufficiency treatment while never forgetting his three core principles when treating patients: compassion, integrity, and dedication. To understand the culture and methodology of Dr. Volney and his practice, one must first understand the motivation behind the person. For him, medicine is deeply personal. His inspiration began in childhood, when he himself was ill: “When I was younger, I remember being sick, and a doctor came over to explain what was happening and how I could start to feel better,” he recalls.

16

“I’ll never forget how empowered that made me feel.” He, like everyone else, knows what it means to be sick and under someone else’s care. Dr. Volney lets this knowledge shape his own standard of care, focusing on human connection and educating the patient (so they feel empowered as well). He also said, “In college, I had the chance to watch an open-heart surgery, and seeing the surgeon perform an operation on a beating heart was transformative.” Today, Dr. Volney is a double board-certified physician with extensive training in pain management and advanced vein treatment. His academic work includes contributions to research such as Approaching the Patient with Chronic Non-Malignant Pain in Primary Care Medicine, with a focus on evidence-based, patient-centered care. But what truly sets Dr. Volney and the Vein Treatment Clinic apart is their commitment to be focused more on patients than on profit. Minimally invasive treatments are, by their very nature, a more compassionate approach to medicine. “We all live busy lives and want to look and feel our best, but fear of pain, long recovery, or treatment risks often holds people back,” Dr. Volney states. “That’s why I’m such a strong advocate for using the techniques available at Vein Treatment Clinic. These modern approaches are safe and precise, allowing patients to return to their normal activities right away.”

Volney is making sure every patient feels heard, understood, and confident in their treatment. His primary passion remains caring for his patients to achieve the best outcomes possible. It’s worth noting, not all providers use these modern techniques: some still rely on more invasive methods. “Vein treatment is a specialized field so there’s a big difference between a physician who has performed hundreds or thousands of vein procedures and someone who’s taken a brief weekend course”, advises Dr. Volney. “Ask to see before and after results that their clinic personally achieved. A good provider should make you feel informed, respected, and cared for every step of the way.” With thousands of vascular procedures performed, Dr. Volney’s Harvard-trained expertise is matched only by his bedside manner. He listens closely, answers questions thoroughly, and believes, “Patients should feel safe, heard, and genuinely cared for—it’s nonnegotiable. My goal is for every patient to feel as comfortable and confident with me as I would want my own family to feel with their doctor.”

Previously, treating vein problems meant surgery, anesthesia, and long recovery times. Today, thanks to advances in ultrasound-guided techniques, and stateof-the-art treatments can be completed in just minutes (sometimes during a lunch break), so they can leave feeling confident and get back to their day without missing a beat.

Loyalty, Service and Leadership:

THE LONE STAR LEGAL WAY

“It is stated in the Book of Isaiah that we are to ‘learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless [and] plead the widow’s cause.’ Isaiah 1:17. There is no greater calling in the law that I can imagine than to follow those teachings.” — Todd Kelly, Lone Star Legal by Daryl K. Jones

V

eteran owned, Spirit led and Christcentered, the Kelly Law Firm (dba Lone Star Legal) is not your run-ofthe-mill personal injury firm. Under the leadership of a husband-and-wife team (who both happen to be attorneys), Lone Star Legal’s culture reflects the values of integrity, honesty, and purpose-driven representation. He describes her as insightful, moral and loyal. She describes him as devoted, courageous and compassionate. These traits also characterize how the attorneys at Lone Star Legal approach litigation, informing their professional decisions and how they interact with clients. Clients are in more than capable hands, as the goal is to “treat others as I would want to be treated,” according to Mr. Kelly. “Particularly when they are coming to me at a time in their lives when they have been neglected or harmed by another person.”

Contrary to what most may believe, working together puts no strain on their relationship. In fact, because they serve the company in differing capacities, their days barely intersect. Moreover, their personalities seem to allow for a sort of balance. Todd is decisive and does not mind confrontation or saying what needs to be said, while Robbye tends to take a more empathetic approach, seeing things from her unique perspective. “Those differences actually make us stronger together,” explains Robbye. “Todd’s decisiveness ensures that things move forward, while my empathy helps us stay mindful of the people we serve and the impact our choices have on them. Between the two of us, we tend to find balance — strength paired with compassion.” They refer to each other as one another’s “best friend,” and consider it a blessing to have each other; as partners in life and in profession. The cases Lone Star Legal services the most usually include auto crashes, sexual assaults and commercial motor vehicle cases. They practice personal injury law, and maintain that personal injury law is, and will always be the sole focus of the firm. This means that clients receive specialized representation from a firm that lives and breathes personal injury law, and that clients can count on their extensive experience and expertise in handling such matters. They also take time and make efforts to ensure that the clients understand the limitations within the law, as it relates to attaining an adequate recovery for their losses. “Lone Star Legal has the only two boardcertified personal injury trial lawyers in Georgetown (Todd Kelly & Robert Ranco).” This is one factor that differentiates them from others. Although they have a proven track record of maximizing financial recoveries for their clients, they never lose sight of the fact that ethics are more

important than winning. “What is not acceptable in this firm – ever – is trading ethical representation for the win,” states Todd, emphatically. “We are veteran owned and operated, and we draw strength of conviction from that sense of service and dedication. But it is our faith in God that drives our ethical values and our commitments to our clients.” With empathy, strength, compassion, integrity and purpose, Lone Star Legal services their clients as they themselves would want to be serviced. Placing the focus on ethical wins, and with a sincere desire to help those in need, this husband-andwife legal team redefines what it means to practice law. Lone Star Legal serves as a shining example of how to win with grace, and litigate with love. LONE STAR LEGAL Todd & Robbye Kelly lonestarlegal.com

Rebuilding Strength:

How One Injury Shaped a Trainer’s Mission By Daryl K. Jones

training, and performance development. His approach blends strength and conditioning with mobility work and corrective exercises. There’s no “one-size-fits-all” method in his philosophy. “Every client is different,” he explains. “Training has to be tailored to their specific needs, limitations, and experience level.” Brant currently trains clients out of Fixed By Fitness near Dripping Springs, where he continues to grow under the mentorship of the gym’s owner. The environment has helped him expand his knowledge, particularly in rehabilitation-focused training. He also offers flexible options, working with clients privately in their homes, parks, or local gyms—making fitness accessible and adaptable to individual lifestyles. In a field often focused on aesthetics and quick results, Brant stands out by prioritizing something deeper—helping people move better, feel better, and live without limits.

F

or many fitness professionals, the journey into personal training begins with a passion for sports or health. For Brant Barth, it started with something far more challenging; a devastating injury that would ultimately define his career path and purpose. While playing college football, Brant suffered a completely ruptured Achilles tendon; an injury that abruptly changed his trajectory. Instead of stepping away from athletics, he leaned in. That experience sparked a deep curiosity: Why do injuries happen? How can they be prevented? What does it truly take to recover? “I’ve dealt with a number of injuries myself,” Brant explains. “That naturally led me toward the rehabilitation side of training.” Today, that curiosity has evolved into a mission. Helping others prevent injuries, recover effectively, and regain confidence in how they move.

Brant has spent the last six years building his expertise, beginning with high school and collegiate athletes in Nebraska. Working with athletes gave him a unique foundation. A foundation anchored in performance, resilience, and constant adaptation. After relocating to Austin, his focus shifted more deeply into rehabilitation-based training. The transition allowed him to expand his impact beyond athletes to everyday individuals dealing with pain, limitations, or past injuries. In his early years, success meant helping athletes run faster, jump higher, and perform better on the field. While that’s still rewarding, Brant has discovered a different kind of fulfillment in his current work. “Helping someone move comfortably again, keep up with their kids, or just get through daily life without pain. That’s extremely fulfilling,” Brant reveals. Brant specializes in movement quality, injury prevention, rehabilitation-focused
