Lifestyle Guide 2.0

Page 1

WELCOME TO THE Lifestyle Team!

Living our best life starts with two essentials: staying healthy and building meaningful connections. Creating vibrant communities may look simple, but it takes intention – and that is where you come in. As part of the lifestyle team, you’re at the heart of the Club experience, shaping what makes Trilogy®, or any community for that matter, truly special.

Our Members choose our communities with purpose. They’re committed to their health, their happiness, and their personal growth – and we’re here to guide them on that journey. Through unique experiences and authentic relationships, our initiative is to help our Members discover new passions, explore new places, meet new people, and find real joy.

Inspiring our Members isn’t optional – it’s our mission. When our Members move in, they’re trusting us with some of the best years of their lives, and we honor that trust every day. Failure isn’t part of our vocabulary because what we do matters.

Why does it matter? Because our Members remind us of the people we love – our friends, our family, even ourselves. Every time we create a moment that makes someone’s life better, we make the world better too. We’re thrilled to have you on the team. To that end, we want to thank Sara Rainey for her steadfast leadership in leading the lifestyle team and its program evolution. I have big shoes to fill and am excited for the journey ahead with all of you.

Lets commit ourselves to being brilliant at the basics. I look forward to partnering with you as we continue to elevate the lives of our Members in impactful ways every day!

OUR PILLARS

Wellness is comprised of five dimensions, each having its own characteristics which contribute to a happier, healthier, more fulfilled life. Trilogy uses these five dimensions as the foundation for the activities, events, and experiences we create with Members.

SOCIAL CONNECTION

We know we are at our best when we open ourselves up to new people, new experiences, and new friendships.

PHYSICAL FITNESS

True wellness involves growth of the mind, the spirit, and, perhaps most importantly, the body. Physical Fitness means we exert control over our nutrition, endurance, strength, and flexibility.

INTELLECTUAL ENRICHMENT

Intellectual Enrichment means we exercise our mind in the same way we exercise our body. Learning skills, pursuing passions, and expanding perspectives are all a part of a life well lived.

EMOTIONAL CONFIDENCE

Emotional Confidence means we are comfortable with ourselves, and comfortable with others being themselves as well. Through kindness, introspection, and empathy, we foster an environment where everyone can flourish.

SPIRITUAL WELL-BEING

Regardless of how – or from whom or what – you derive your inner purpose, pursuing your own spiritual well-being is a critical part of the journey.

THE PATH TO SUCCESS People

WE ARE IN THE EXPERIENCE BUSINESS

Processes and procedures provide structure, but true success comes from skilled, caring, and dedicated individuals and teams who bring those processes to life. Every interaction matters. As you think about what makes Lifestyle team members exceptional, keep these core qualities at the forefront:

CARE

Authentic care is the foundation of everything we do. Care about your role, your community, and – most importantly – our Members. Our work is built on personal relationships. If Members don’t believe you genuinely care about their interests, well-being, and happiness, nothing else matters. Period.

EFFORT

Care without effort falls short. Members notice when you go the extra mile – and it makes all the difference. The Power of Moments lives in those small, thoughtful details that elevate an experience: handing out popsicles at the pool just because, or sending a kind note when you hear a Member has been under the weather. These unexpected touches don’t go unnoticed. In fact, one of the most telling questions on our Member Satisfaction Survey asks, “Do you believe the team goes above and beyond to make every visit exceptional?” Your effort is visible, and it creates lasting impressions.

EXPERIENCE

Lifestyle team members wear many hats. The most successful draw on a wide range of talents and knowledge to adapt to each unique situation. If you’re new, lean on your peers and network. You’ll have access to monthly Lifestyle calls, the annual Lifestyle Conference, and regular collaboration with the National Director of Lifestyle to review your calendar and programming. Combine these resources with passion and a willingness to learn, and you’ll build the experience that sets you apart.

CHARISMA

Charisma is hard to define – but easy to feel. It’s a blend of confidence, humility, and relatability that makes people feel comfortable and valued. The best way to develop charisma? Put others first. Ask yourself: What would I appreciate most if I were in their shoes? Often, the simplest gestures have the greatest impact.

YOUR ROLE

These qualities are personal, but they also influence the processes you manage. Every system, every procedure should reflect the same care, effort, experience, and charisma that define our team. Processes are the framework –but people create the magic.

THE PATH TO SUCCESS Process

To achieve the highest level of success, we must combine great people with great processes. Processes create consistency and efficiency, but they should never replace creativity and connection. One of the most effective shared processes is the vetting, selection, and implementation of consistent events across the network. These proven winners set a strong foundation – but the real magic happens when we pair them with local, tried and true innovations that reflect your community’s unique personality.

This is where Quality, Quantity, and Variety come into play:

QUALITY

Are we delivering exceptional events where every detail is thoughtfully planned? Is communication proactive, clear, and engaging? Execution should feel seamless – because when the details shine, the experience feels effortless.

QUANTITY

Are we offering enough opportunities for Members to connect and participate? This includes all National Events and Essential Events that Members expect, ensuring they can be as active as they choose.

VARIETY

Are we pushing beyond the expected? Creativity and innovation keep Members engaged and excited. Are we introducing new experiences that spark curiosity and passion? Are we fulfilling our mission to provide: Social Connection, Physical Fitness, Intellectual Enrichment, Emotional Confidence, and Spiritual Well-being. This is where events shine – bringing a unique mix of experiences tailored to your community.

YOUR ROLE

Processes give us structure, but your creativity and care bring them to life. Use these principles to guide your planning and execution, ensuring every event reflects the Lifestyle promise: exceptional experiences, every time. A great way to build truly meaningful events is to work in your “Power of Moments” with surprises and delights that are unexpected.

OUR Lifestyle PILLARS

So now we have the skills and characteristics, and the processes that make up a Lifestyle team member, but what all does the job really entail? That’s where our Lifestyle Pillars come in. These six areas make up your main responsibilities as a Lifestyle team member, and include:

THE MAYOR

The Mayor represents you being the face of what Lifestyle is all about at at your Club. You need to be visible, approachable, and engaging. Your role is to listen to Members, build rapport, and provide accurate information when asked.

DIRECTOR OF FUN

The Director of Fun sets the tone for the community. Your job is to blend your personal gifts with the tools BlueStar provides to create an unmatched lifestyle experience for your Members. A big part of this is to develop a robust calendar of activities that embraces the varied interests and passions of your community. More on that in a bit.

GREAT COMMUNICATOR

You must be incredibly diligent about accurately communicating the “Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How” for every event, every activity, every time, and everywhere your details are posted.

MARKETING VISIONARY

Along with planning and hosting momentous events and activities for your Members, you also are responsible for inspiring everyday participation at the Club, including events, amenities, Member-led Clubs, and more. This is particularly important on MTL, in your newsletters, and on MyBlueStar.

FINANCIAL STEWARD

We rely on you to make smart decisions about the money invested in community events and activities, and how those aligned with the budgets created. In many instances, you will be partnering with your Club General Manager to ensure that the event you are planning makes sense for your community.

TEAM PLAYER

Finally, the Lifestyle Director, Manager, or Coordinator is the ultimate jack-of-all-trades, slipping into every role and supporting other teams when necessary to ensure the club’s success.

Let’s look at each of these Lifestyle Pillars in a bit more depth.

THE MAYOR

WHAT IT MEANS IN YOUR LIFESTYLE ROLE

As the Mayor, you are the unofficial face of your community – the person Members see, trust, and turn to most often. This is the most critical role you will fulfill, and it will take up the largest portion of your time. DIRECTOR OF FUN

FIRST THINGS FIRST: FUN MATTERS

Members expect to have fun and socially connect – that’s why creating a vibrant calendar of engaging events and activities is essential. Being a Lifestyle Director, Manager, or Coordinator is more than event planning, but it starts there. Your calendar should offer variety, creativity, and relevance to your Membership.

Keep experimenting with new ideas and expect occasional feedback – both positive and constructive. Listen carefully and appreciate that Members care enough to share their thoughts. Every comment is an opportunity to improve.

WHAT MAKES A GREAT DIRECTOR OF FUN

PLANNING & ORGANIZING Making fun look effortless takes meticulous planning. Organization is your superpower.

CLEAR COMMUNICATION Events require coordination across multiple teams – food & beverage, maintenance, setup, and more. Communicate clearly and concisely so everyone knows their role.

EVENT PLANNING EXPERTISE From long-range calendars to fine-tuning individual events, every detail matters to bring the vision to life.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Every event requires an investment. Manage budgets carefully and secure approvals before moving forward. Use tools like P&L statements for major events to optimize pricing and profitability.

GREAT COMMUNICATOR

WHY COMMUNICATION IS CRUCIAL

Members won’t know about all the amazing things happening at the Club unless you take the lead in sharing them. Building a great calendar is just the beginning – your job is to make sure the message gets through. Keep it crisp, clear, and easy to read. Use every marketing tool available – not just the Events Calendar on MyTrilogyLife.com. Take advantage of the homepage hero block, announcement blocks, and all the features designed to help you maximize visibility.

WHAT MAKES A GREAT COMMUNICATOR

STRONG WRITER You don’t need to be a poet – just make your message clear and concise. Add creativity when you can. Always include the Who, What, Where, When, and How so Members know exactly what to expect.

CONFIDENT SPEAKER Leading means being comfortable speaking to a group. Keep it simple and direct. A little humor and humility can make your message more relatable.

ORGANIZED THINKER Clear communication starts with clear thinking. Before you write or speak, outline your key points so your message flows logically and accurately.

OBSERVANT Watch how your audience responds and adjust as needed.

MEASURING SUCCESS

Regularly review the Member website for comments and respond promptly. Keep the site complete and accurate to reduce Member questions.

Represent the entire Club – not just lifestyle.

Use provided tools and embrace fresh ideas.

MARKETING VISIONARY

TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS ARE JUST THE

BEGINNING

Email campaigns and tools like MTL are great starting points, but every Club is unique. Take time to understand how your Members prefer to receive information – then tailor your marketing approach to fit their style. To truly stand out, go beyond group messaging: reach out personally when you know an event or activity will excite a specific Member. Nothing beats a personal touch. In larger communities this may not be possible, in start-up communities it is a must.

WHAT MAKES A GREAT MARKETING VISIONARY

WEBSITE CONTENT MANAGEMENT Keep your online presence fresh and accurate. Maintain an engaging email schedule that informs without overwhelming.

BRAND ALIGNMENT Submit a Creative Services Request (CSR) to ensure every piece of marketing collateral upholds brand standards and to create a consistent look and feel across all platforms so Members instantly recognize and trust what you share.

CENTRAL SERVICES SUPPORT Work closely with the Central Services marketing team to streamline processes and support every event and initiative. Lean on your marketing contact to handle the behind-the-scenes work so you can focus on creating unforgettable experiences for your Members.

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION Make your messages clear, fun, and visually appealing. Share what matters – skip the fluff. Use every available channel to connect with Members.

ACTIVE LISTENING Build relationships by listening. Learn Members’ interests and connections, then use that insight to create targeted, grassroots engagement.

FINANCIAL STEWARD

Upholding the Financial Stewardship pillar requires ethical, responsible, and prudent decision-making to ensure accurate financial reporting. As stewards, Lifestyle team members manage assets on behalf of the Members and property owners.

While Lifestyle team members are not expected to be financial experts, they are expected to own their department and make sound financial decisions. A department’s financial results are a direct reflection of those choices and the marketing of events.

A basic understanding of debits and credits is essential. Core responsibilities include maintaining vendor relationships, processing Lifestyle invoices weekly, preparing and distributing BEOs, collaborating with general managers on event and ticket pricing, conducting post-event analysis as needed, or as they come in to ensure your vendors are paid on time, and contributing to annual budget planning.

Financial stewardship does not mean the Lifestyle department must be profit-driven. Financial leadership is breaking even on events and, in rare cases, making a profit to help offset complimentary events. Some departments operate at a loss. Instead, think of the Lifestyle budget as fuel – monitored, allocated thoughtfully, and used wisely to maximize value for the Membership.

WHAT MAKES A GREAT FINANCIAL STEWARD

FINANCIAL ACUMEN Gain trust and respect by demonstrating your understanding of basic financial principles. Know how to create a budget and forecast revenue (or loss) for each event. Also, be able to explain how each investment benefits the Club.

TECH SAVVY Know how to use the tools at your disposal to create a budget and price out an event. Also, learn Excel so you can effectively communicate with your Club’s management team. Many of our Clubs who have centralized accounting use ProfitSword.

STRATEGIC THINKING Have a working knowledge of Excel, as you will be responsible for tracking expenses and revenue from day one. Know what works and why. Understand the dynamic of your Club and how each activity or event benefits the membership.

CHARACTERISTICS

METICULOUS Developing and managing a budget means keeping track of the details and considering all possibilities. Think through the process step-by-step and leave nothing out.

ANALYTICAL Use reason and logic in pricing out each event or activity. Know which investments yield the best results and why.

TRUSTWORTHY Showing you understand the process and can create and manage a reasonable budget will build trust with your Club Manager and strengthen your position at the Club.

BEHAVIORS

Be open and honest with clients, Members, and team members. Prepare Profit-and-Loss Statements for each event.

Provide monthly financial recaps to Club Management.

Follow general accounting practices as outlined by BlueStar; if you have questions contact your accounting representative in Central Services.

MEASURING SUCCESS

Embody BlueStar #2, by being 100% accountable for achieving the financial results of your department.

Make thoughtful decisions when planning your events: between on-site, which is most requested by the Members, and offsite trips.

Strike a balance between price points for your events, recognizing the need to offer a variety of prices.

CHARACTERISTICS

HELPFUL Lend a hand, help, and do what you can to create success for the Club.

RESOURCEFUL Use all the assets at your disposal. Repurpose and reuse materials. Leverage relationships and experience.

FLEXIBLE Remember there is more than one route to the top of the mountain. Do what you can with what you have available.

POSITIVE Always look for the positive aspect. Build others up and keep working towards the goal.

BEHAVIORS

Willing to help whenever/wherever necessary.

Be able to navigate stressful/sensitive situations.

Demonstrate humility – no job is beneath you.

HOW TO MEASURE SUCCESS

Be known as a team player by your peer group, and the one who jumps in when needed.

Recognize others when they jump in and help you.

Have a willingness to roll up your sleeves when needed.

TEAM PLAYER

This one is hard to define, but you will know it when you see it. Being a true team player means jumping in and doing what needs to be done. One night you might be taking photos, the next you’re the first on the dance floor or leading karaoke. You could even find yourself arranging flowers or redesigning a space. Use your skills and creativity to make it happen. Embrace the challenge and enjoy the opportunity.

WHAT MAKES A GREAT TEAM PLAYER

UNDERSTAND THE CLUB STRUCTURE Know what each department does and how to get things done. Don’t hesitate to roll up your sleeves and help when needed.

GREAT COMMUNICATOR Give clear, concise directions so everyone understands their role and the desired outcome.

CREATING YOUR ANNUAL Lifestyle Calendar

You may ask yourself, “Where do I even begin?!” It’s an understandable question and the next section of this guide will help you with the planning and execution for a variety of events.

First, we suggest building your calendar in layers. The first layer being our National Events. You will find on your annual #MTL Calendar, which is produced by Central Services, and mailed to you in the late fall for the following year. Prior to that, around the middle of summer, you will receive a ‘Save The Date’ Calendar which will outline the dates coming up on that calendar. National Events serve as your anchor point and should be ‘plotted’ first as they should take place on the specified date. As you continue reading, you’ll see all of the National Events required of you to host for your Members. Again, these events can be somewhat tailored to your community, but should take place on the specified day.

Next, you’ll layer in our proven Essential Events which fill the calendar with a “core menu” of classic lifestyle events that are a proven success across the portfolio. These events can be scheduled when it makes most sense for you, but should be hosted as often as prescribed. An example of an Essential Event is Coffee Talk, which needs to take place to keep your Members informed, but you’re able to schedule what day and the time works best for your Members.

The next two sections feature plug-and-play events which have been tested and successfully implemented in growing active adult communities. For example, while hosting an on-site comedy show may not be feasible for a start-up community, taking Members off-site to a comedy venue can be an effective alternative. The final section highlights Tried & True events your peers have executed with great results. Use this section to find ideas that can help you introduce new events in your community.

HEADER A sample event header is provided.

ADD-ON OPTIONS Optional enhancements and creative ideas to elevate the event.

EASTER EGGSTRAVAGANZA

THE WHY

Easter is a cherished time for families to come together, making it the perfect opportunity to host a fun, nondenominational event everyone can enjoy. Since it often coincides with spring break, it’s also a great chance to include programming for children and visiting grandchildren – even in age-restricted communities.

REQUIRED PROGRAMMING All communities are required to host at least one event that fits the theme.

A typical Lifestyle Easter event includes three main parts:

1. Appearance by the Easter Bunny

2. Crafts and games for kids of all ages

3. An Easter Egg Hunt

Easter Bunny costumes are easy to find online. Choose one that fits multiple team members comfortably. Plan a set schedule for Bunny visits, provide a “throne” for photos, and assign a helper to guide guests – visibility is limited, and those costumes get hot quickly!

Crafts and games are your chance to get creative. Simple activities like decorating paper eggs, face painting, or bubble stations keep kids engaged. For young children, switch activities every 15 minutes or so to maintain interest.

Finally, the Egg Hunt! There are many ways to organize one, but the tips found in this guide, gathered from experienced Lifestyle Directors, will help your event run smoothly.

MEMBER INVITATION CONTENT

It’s almost time for our annual Easter Eggstravaganza! Bring your little ones out on (date) at (time) in the (location) for a morning filled with fun. Join us for age-specific Easter egg hunts, music, games for all ages, and of course, a special visit from the Easter Bunny!

The egg hunts will kick off at (time) in the following order:

• Ages 0-3 | Ages 4-6 | Ages 7 and older

As soon as one age group finishes up, we will immediately move on to the next. Registration to join in on the hunt is open at the (location). Please include the child’s first and last name along with their age. Remember, Easter is the best time to put all your eggs in one basket so let the hunt begin!

DATE/FREQUENCY Annually, check your calendar for specific date

SUGGESTED PRICE Complimentary-$

ADD-ON OPTIONS

• Don’t forget hydration! A small bar with sodas, water, and adult beverages keeps everyone refreshed and can generate extra revenue.

• A portable sound system helps play kids’ tunes and make announcements.

• If you have F&B, consider an Easter brunch add-on – from a full meal to a casual buffet. Some communities even split Easter into two days: Saturday for the Eggstravaganza, Sunday for brunch.

• Consider adding an Adult Egg Hunt with plastic eggs containing mini liquor bottles, lottery scratchers, or complimentary event vouchers.

EASTER EGG HUNT DO’S & DON’TS

DO’S

• Divide by Age Break children into groups (0–3, 4–6, 7+) and, if possible, space groups physically. Assign each group its own area.

• Age-appropriate Treats Avoid choking hazards for the youngest group and make older groups’ hunts more challenging.

• Define the Hunt Area Clearly mark where eggs can and cannot be hidden, keeping everything within parents’ line of sight.

• Keep Extras Store extra eggs and baskets for late arrivals or children who don’t get any.

• Have a Backup Plan Prepare an indoor space in case of bad weather.

• Overprepare Plan 10–30 eggs per child, with a minimum of 1,000 eggs. Seal eggs with tape and assemble with team help.

• Reuse Eggs Safely Set up a station to collect opened eggs and disinfect them (½ cup bleach per gallon of water) for future use.

DON’TS

• Don’t Run All Groups at Once Siblings and different ages make a single group chaotic.

• Avoid Chocolate Even in cool weather, it can melt. Use gummies for 0–3 and hard candies like Nerds, Smarties, or Jolly Ranchers for older kids.

• Don’t Leave Long Gaps Between Groups Large numbers of eggs can be collected quickly.

• Avoid Hazards Don’t hide eggs near busy streets or unprotected pools. If unavoidable, assign a staff member to monitor the area.

PRICING TIP Make this a complimentary event to encourage participation. If charging, consider a family rate rather than per person to boost engagement.

MENORAH LIGHTING

DATE/FREQUENCY Designated Week in December

SUGGESTED PRICE Complimentary-$

ADD-ON OPTIONS

ADD FOOD Have your Food & Beverage Team (or a catering company) make some traditional foods to serve before or after the menorah lighting.

LIGHT THE MENORAH NIGHTLY Make sure the candles are lit properly each day/night. Including a Member volunteer would be a good idea here.

THE WHY

Hanukkah is the Jewish eight-day, wintertime “festival of lights,” celebrated with a nightly menorah lighting, special prayers, and traditional foods. Traditional food on Hanukkah are latkes potato pancakes (don’t forget the applesauce and sour cream), jelly donuts and chocolate gelt (coins).

At minimum, you should host a Menorah Lighting Event on the first evening of Hanukkah. Light the candles from right to left with the center candle (or the shamash candle) on the menorah. Reach out to Members to see if there are any who would like to volunteer to lead the group and the lighting of the menorah.

REQUIRED PROGRAMMING At minimum, setup a prominently displayed menorah in a common area of the Club. If you have already started an annual, tradition, please continue.

MEMBER INVITATION CONTENT

Come up to the Club to celebrate the first night of Hanukkah on (date) at (time). We’ll be lighting our Club’s Menorah and celebrating the Festival of Lights together.

We invite you to bring your Menorah from home and light it with us!

The cost to attend is $X. There will be traditional sweets, treats and latkes provided. Wine and beer will be available for purchase.

We look forward to seeing you and being a part of this wonderful celebration!

KINARA LIGHTING

THE WHY

Host a Kinara Lightning on the first day of Kwanzaa. The Kinara is a candelabra with seven candlesticks used in celebrating Kwanzaa. One candle is lit each consecutive night, the first one being on December 26. The candles are lit according to the numbering of the Principles: Umoja (1); Kujichagulia (2); Ujima (3); Ujamaa (4); Nia (5); Kuumba (6); and Imani (7).

They are lit beginning with the black candle, (Umoja). Then they are lit in alternate left and right, lighting from inward to outward. Thus, after the black candle, the red candle closest to it, Kujichagulia (2) is lit. Next the green candle Ujima (3) closest to the black is lit. The sequence is followed with alternating red and green lighting until the last candle, the green candle Imani (7) is lit.

The black is centered and lit first to stress the priority of the people. The red candle is lit next to show the importance of struggle. And the green represents the good future that is forged in righteous and relentless struggle. Thus, first the people (black), then the struggle (red), then the future (green) that emerges from the struggle.

Kwanza is a secular festival observed by many African Americans from December 26th to January 1st as a celebration of their cultural heritage and traditional values. Because the meaning of Kwanzaa and the lighting of the Kinara is not common knowledge to many, you may want to have someone read it prior to/during the lighting.

REQUIRED PROGRAMMING All communities should create an educational experience at their Club.

MEMBER INVITATION CONTENT

Join us at the Club to celebrate the first evening of Kwanzaa with the lighting of the Kinara on December 26th at (time). At the ceremony, we will be lighting one candle on the Kinara representing Umoja, the first day of Kwanzaa, followed by an explanation of the seven principles and Kwanzaa’s symbols.

NEW YEAR’S EVE

THE WHY

New Year’s Eve is one of the most anticipated celebrations of the year, and it’s the perfect opportunity for Members to let loose and enjoy a memorable night. The Lifestyle team plays a major role in creating that experience.

While every NYE party includes core elements – watching the ball drop, a midnight champagne or cider toast, and Auld Lang Syne – the theme is what truly shapes the event. Entertainment, culinary offerings, décor, and activations should all align with your chosen direction. Successful past themes include Casino Night, Masquerade Ball, Roaring ’20s, and Black & White Ball. Keep your themes rotating for variety, but also consider your facility’s limitations and partnerships. If you have onsite F&B, determine how their dinner service, reservations, or public access may impact the evening.

If you’re new to the operation, check with department heads to review past themes and Member feedback. Need help choosing? Let Members vote via an online survey through Central Services, or collaborate with your Member advisory group for additional ideas.

Make sure to plan early – select your theme and book entertainment at least six months in advance, as vendors quickly fill up during holiday season.

Essential elements for every NYE party:

• A broadcast of the ball drop (NY or LA, depending on timing).

• A “midnight” champagne or sparkling cider toast.

• Auld Lang Syne played at midnight by your band, DJ, or AV system.

For painting or watercolor classes, include canvases or watercolor paper, paints, brushes, painters’ tape, easels or boards, and basic tools like pencils, erasers, and masking fluid. For dry medium classes, provide charcoals or pastels, specialized paper, erasers, blending sticks, fixative, and boards to secure the paper. Arrange the room so all Members can easily view the instructor, with individual workstations ready and proper lighting in place. Enhance the atmosphere with background music, and coordinate beverages with your F&B team, offering options for both drinkers and non-drinkers.

MEMBER INVITATION CONTENT

Join us in (location) as (instructor’s name) walks you through the process of the art of charcoal drawing. This course teaches a nice balance of the mechanics involved with making a simple still life drawing in charcoal, but also having an interpretive, artistic mindset while doing it. We will discuss what to focus on, embrace and likewise, abandon as you’re drawing. Enjoy exploring how to find the “art” in artmaking, how to understand and effectively utilize some basic techniques. It is meant for the complete novice equipped with basic art materials.

You will be supported and guided through the entire process, from discussing which materials you will need to replicate the still life as realistically as you can. From there we will walk through how to add value including shading. When we are finished, you will walk away with a new set of skills you can use to create more beautiful drawings.

This medium can be a little messy, but that’s part of the fun! Give yourself permission to be a bit messy and explore the effects you can achieve with charcoal.

The price to attend is $XX, which includes all materials needed. Seats are limited; be sure to register on MTL!

CULINARY DEMO

THE WHY

Culinary Demonstrations are popular events that combine education, fun, and food. Coordinate with your culinary team – or an outside vendor if needed – to set the schedule and menu, allowing creative freedom or tying it to a monthly theme or F&B Week.

Choose a space with good visibility, whether a demo kitchen, dining room, or Grand Living Room with portable equipment. Arrange seating so Members can watch and ask questions.

The Chef demonstrates the dish, Members sample it, and the session ends with a Q&A. Distribute recipe cards, created by Central Services via CSR submission, as a takehome keepsake.

MEMBER-LED CLUB EXPO

THE WHY

The event should be promoted to the entire community at least six weeks in advance. A detailed message should be sent to all Member-led Club Leaders outlining the purpose of the event and requesting that they sign up to participate by a specified deadline.

A Member-led Club Expo serves two important purposes: it allows new Members and prospective buyers to discover the variety of active clubs and their activities, and it provides current club members with an opportunity to recruit new participants while showcasing their pride and involvement in the community.

Each participating club should be provided with a table, tablecloth, and chairs. Tables should be pre-assigned, clearly labeled, and marked with printed table tents displaying both the event name and the Member-led Club name.
