Letterfromthe CityManager

HelloMuskogee,

Novemberhasbeenanextraordinarymonthforourcity,filledwithmomentum,opportunity,and someofthemostexcitingeconomicdevelopmentnewsMuskogeehasseeninyears.Aswestep intoDecember,itisclearthatourcommunityisenteringanewseasonofgrowthandpossibility. In the past few weeks, we announced three major economic development wins that will help shapeMuskogee’sfuturefordecadestocome:Google,AcademySportsandOutdoors,andTexas Roadhouse.

Each announcement represents more than new jobs or new investment, though those accomplishments alone are impressive These announcements reflect confidence in Muskogee Theyshowthatcompaniesofeverysize,fromworldleadersintechnologytonationalretailersand restaurants,seesomethingspecialhappeninghere.Theyseeacitythatisgrowing,aworkforce thatisready,andacommunitythatbelievesfirmlyinitsfuture.

GooglesdecisiontobuildanewdatacenterinMuskogeeisatransformationalmilestone,onethat bringsleadingtechnology,longterminvestment,andhighqualityjobstoourcity.AcademySports and Outdoors chose Muskogee because they saw a market filled with active families, strong demand, and tremendous potential. And Texas Roadhouse, a company known for its energy, hospitality, and success, is another strong sign that Muskogee’s retail and dining landscape is movinginapositivedirection

Thesethreecompaniesmadeindependentdecisions,buttogethertheytellapowerfulstory: Muskogeeisontherise. Muskogeeisworthinvestingin.Muskogeeismovingforward.

While these major announcements captured well-deserved attention, it is equally important to recognizethesmallandlocallyownedbusinessesthatserveasthebackboneofourcommunity. Thesearethefamily-runshops,cafés,andserviceprovidersthatopentheirdoorseverymorning, employ our friends and neighbors, support our schools and events, and help define the unique characterofourcity TheircommitmentandresiliencearevitaltoMuskogee’seconomicstrength AsIreflectontheseaccomplishments,Iamgratefulfortheworkofoureconomicdevelopment partners,thecollaborationbetweenpublicandprivatesectors,andacommunitythatcontinuesto believe in what Muskogee can become. This momentum is not happening by accident. It is the resultofsteadyeffort,long-termplanning,andasharedcommitmenttobuildastrongercityfor everyone.

Eveninamonthfilledwithboldheadlines,theheartofMuskogeeremainsourpeople.Whetherwe are celebrating news that draws national attention or working quietly behind the scenes, our successcontinuestoberootedincollaboration,service,andthebeliefthatwhenwemoveforward together,Muskogeethrives

AsweenterDecemberandbeginpreparingforanewyear,thereisarenewedsenseofhopeand excitementacrossthecity.Witheachnewinvestment,eachnewjob,andeachnewopportunity, wearebuildingafutureforMuskogeethatisbrighterthanever.

In November the Oklahoma City Thunder recognized Sgt. Drew Branan as an OG&E Thunder Safety Partner (pictured below).

The Medical Support Unit received recognition from Representative Sneed and Governor Stitt for their excellent work in our community (pictured below).

Muskogee Fire Department visited the Youth Central campus to teach students important fire safety skills. Children learned how to stay safe inanemergency.

TheCityhasacquiredtwocommercialrear-loader vehiclestosupportsanitationoperations.Oneunit has been received and placed into service. The remaining unit is anticipated to arrive in early December.

PublicWorks/Streets

TheCityofMuskogeehasimplementednewtraffic detectiontechnologytoimprovesignalefficiency. TwoMiovisionstop-bardetectionsystems,which usehigh-resolutioncamerastoidentifyvehiclesat thestoplineandtriggersignalchangesbasedon actual traffic flow, have been installed. These systems replace traditional inductive loop detectorsandarenowoperatingattheGibson& YorkandChandler&Yorkintersections.

The project will install a new sewer line designed to serve the Southside Industrial Park as it continues to develop (pictured below).

The City completed replacement of an 18-inch storm sewer line frommanholetomanhole(picturedbelow).
