Magic of Christmas Ballet!’ By Brett Auten Several area dancers will be part of an international cast performing at the highest level. When the “Nutcracker! Magic of Christmas Ballet!” takes center stage at the Fox Theatre in December, O’Fallon’s Bridgeman Academy of Performing Arts will have 23 representatives, ages six-to-16-years-old. “I am really excited, I think this will be so much fun,” nine-year old Brooklyn Bridge-
man said. “I can’t wait to perform on the Fox stage.” The troupe will have six rehearsals to learn the routine and they will all have various roles from snowflakes to party guests. Mattie Sellers is a 16-year-old Timberland High School junior who has 14 years of experience behind her. She has performed at the Fabulous Fox many times. “For years, the ‘Nutcracker’ has been part of my family’s Christmas tradition,” Sellers said. “It’s the place to be.”
This year will have extra zeal, as the holiday favorite returns after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And it comes with some appropriate rebranding. In solidarity with the people of Ukraine, Talmi Entertainment announced the company’s flagship production, “Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker,” is renamed “Nutcracker!
