South Salt Lake Rockstars: Employees Who Go Above and Beyond For Our City Every December, we host a holiday luncheon to give thanks to our city staff for their hard work and dedication to South Salt Lake. It’s an opportunity to bring everyone together for relationship building and story sharing outside of the daily work environment. It takes a lot of people and a Mayor Cherie Wood lot of effort to run a city–people to clean and nurture city parks and properties, maintain and upgrade utility infrastructure, inspect and safeguard the integrity of our transportation system, process business licenses and
supervise development projects, serve as crossing guards for students, and respond to calls to uphold law and order and protect the public. Each staff member plays an important role in serving our city and making it a better place to live, work, and play for our residents. Our annual Rock Star Awards are a highlight of the holiday event. Department heads submit a staff member from their team who deserves some extra recognition for going above and beyond in their job duties. These are employees who show initiative in tackling tough projects, create positive working environments, and exemplify outstanding customer service. It’s this extra effort that makes our city shine. Thank you, rock stars, for your hard work and dedication.

City News Test Your Pipes for Lead
Track Your Water Usage with EyeOnWater
South Salt Lake is committed to ensuring safe and clean drinking water for all of our water utility customers. The city maintains records of all city water distribution lines and has invested to ensure all pipes are made of safe materials. However, the city does not have records of pipe material on private property. As part of the federal Lead and Copper Rule, SSL Water is actively working to test and replace all lead water service lines in the city. You can help with this process by testing your water service line and completing our online survey at sslc.gov. Scan the QR Code to learn more about lead in drinking water and how to test your water service line.
As a SSL Water customer, you can track your water usage through EyeOnWater, an app you can access on a desktop or mobile device. You can also enable leak detection notifications so you get notified of possible leaks, saving water and money. Get started by scanning the code or going to the city website at sslc.gov. If you’re a Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District customer, you have access to the My Water app for tracking water usage. Visit their website for information at jvwcd.gov/customer/mywater.

City News Independent Audit of the South Salt Lake Police Department
The city recently paid for an independent audit to examine morale issues within the South Salt Lake Police Department. Jones, Skelton & Hochuli, P.L.C. received the contract, and presented their report to the City Council on December 10. Mayor Wood and Police Chief Croyle are committed to addressing all concerns noted in the report, and have begun formulating an action plan for leading positive change. Public safety remains a top priority for city leaders, and the Police Department remains as effective and committed to resident safety as it always has been.
