In an industry often characterized by opacity, variable pricing, and outdated operational models, A+ Garage Doors has achieved superior results by fundamentally re-engineering the service experience. Our nomination for “Innovation or Creativity” is not based on a single gadget, but on a holistic ecosystem of innovative processes that have modernized the garage door trade in Utah. By replacing the traditional “break-fix” mentality with a transparent, data-driven, and education-first approach, A+ Garage Doors has scaled from a single truck to a statewide leader with over 27,000 five-star reviews. Our innovation lies in three distinct areas: the proprietary “No Surprises” service meth-
odology, the integration of enterprise-grade technology into local dispatching, and a rigorous, codified approach to technician training that rivals academic certification. These methods have created positive differentiation by placing power back in the hands of the consumer and setting a new benchmark for professional trades.
The most significant differentiator for A+ Garage Doors is our codified customer interaction process, known internally and externally as the “No Surprises” Guarantee. In the standard home service model, a technician of-

ten arrives, diagnoses a problem in silence, and presents a lump-sum bill that leaves the homeowner feeling cornered.
We completely disrupted this norm by developing a “Tiered Diagnosis Technique.” When an A+ technician evaluates a system, they are trained to categorize findings into two distinct buckets: “Necessary” (safety-critical or immediate failure points) and “Recommended” (preventative maintenance or noise reduction). This method is presented to the customer before any work begins, often utilizing visual aids to show exactly why a part has failed.
THE PROCESS: The technician performs a 25-point safety inspection, documenting wear on springs, cables, and rollers. They then present a line-item menu of options. The customer is empowered to approve the scope of work based on their budget and long-term goals, removing the friction of “upselling.”
THE RESULT: This transparent approach has led to an industry-leading conversion rate and a staggering volume of trust-based reviews. By removing the fear of hidden costs, we have turned a grudge purchase (a broken door) into a positive, educational experience.
Scaling a service business across 36 locations—from the red rocks of St. George to the snowy avenues of Logan—requires more than just hard work; it requires innovative logistics. A+ Garage Doors has achieved superior results by adopting and customizing enterprise-level software solutions that are typically reserved for much larger corporate entities. We utilize a sophisticated dispatching and customer relationship management (CRM) system, leveraging tools like Ser-
viceTitan’s “Dispatch Pro” and “Marketing Pro.” This technology allows us to operate a “Decentralized Hub Model.” Instead of dispatching all technicians from a single central warehouse, our software analyzes real-time traffic data, technician skill sets, and inventory levels to route the nearest qualified expert to the customer.
THE METHOD: Our system tracks the “inventory on the truck” in real-time. If a customer calls with a specific broken spring size or a complex commercial opener issue, our dispatch algorithm identifies not just the closest technician, but the closest technician who has the specific part and certification to fix it in one trip.
THE RESULT: This method drastically reduces “callbacks” (return trips to finish a job), lowers our fleet’s carbon footprint through optimized routing, and ensures customers receive same-day emergency service even during peak seasons. This operational efficiency is a key driver behind

our ability to maintain a 4.9-star rating while servicing thousands of Utah homes annually.
The garage door industry has historically lacked a standardized educational curriculum, leading to inconsistent repair quality. A+ Garage Doors innovated a solution to this labor challenge by building an internal training academy that emphasizes “Earn While You Learn.”
THE APPROACH: Our technicians are not just mechanics; they are certified safety inspectors. They are trained to identify non-compliant fire doors in commercial settings and dangerous, non-contained extension springs in older homes. We have incentivized this continuous learning through a “Gamified Career Path,” where technicians earn higher titles, pay grades, and recognition (including championship belts and awards) as they master new certifications.
THE RESULT: This focus on education has created a workforce that is technically superior to the competition. Our technicians can diagnose complex board logic errors in modern smart openers that other companies simply replace. This technical depth saves our customers money and extends the life of their investments.

Adding skylights to your kitchen can help you avoid using obnoxious, loud exhaust fans to ventilate cooking smells.

Skylights can transform your home from dark and dreary to a completely new space full of natural light.

Anatural light source can change how your home feels and functions. One of the easiest ways to brighten up a living space is by getting a skylight fitted and installed on your roof.
Aladdin Skylights has been around since 1964, installing skylights in homes, businesses and industrial and commercial properties.
Jeff Keate, the president of Aladdin Skylights, said that there have been many psychological studies that say people that are more aware of their outside surroundings and weather are less likely to suffer seasonal depression.
The addition of a skylight can provide real value to you home and dozens of other benefits – skylights will enhance every aspect your living space.
The introduction of natural light can liven up a room. It’s a sure-fire way to increase the amount of light throughout your home. Natural light is also sustainable. Uneven lighting patterns are common occurrences in some rooms with standard windows.
“You can take a dark, dreary room and all of a sudden, it’s just a completely different space when it has natural daylighting in it,” Keate said.
Skylights solve the dreary-room problem by introducing natural light into parts of a room that windows can’t reach.
The balance of light in a room will provide a new aesthetic to help define and accentuate your living space.
Along with choosing to install skylights for the benefits of natural light, you may choose to install a skylight for the benefits of fresh air! Aladdin offers VELUX Solar-powered “Fresh Air” skylights that are operated by a remote or through an app on your phone. These skylights will bring fresh air into your home and circulate it throughout. They can also be used in areas such as bathrooms to help moisture escape, and in areas such as kitchens allow smoke, cooking odors to ventilate without using loud, obnoxious exhaust fans; especially if you have a style of home where the options for standard windows are limited.
Natural light means less need for electric lights: The introduction of a skylight can replace the need for lighting elements. Fewer lights mean more savings in electricity.
“It’s a two-fold thing,” Keate said. “You can’t make a double-paned glass unit have the same R-value as a roof full of insulation. But the fact that you’re getting free light coming in, reduces electric demand for turning on lights.”
Keate said that high-performance low-E glass nowadays is more selective on how much heat it lets in and how much cold it lets out at night, so they turn out to be a net energy gain when they’re the right size and fit for the application.
Various seasonal changes also bring benefits. In the winter, a skylight can provide warmth from the sun. In the summer, the same skylight will provide ventilation. This can help reduce your heating and air conditioner usage.
When it’s time to sell your home, a skylight can increase the value. Like most cosmetic changes, skylights create an attractive atmosphere, thanks to natural light. The introduction of natural light to various rooms throughout your home will increase the resale value.
Keate said that he’s read several articles about how the addition of skylights increases the value of a home. He said further that skylights are one of four home improvements that have at least a 100% return when added to your home: He said the first is a fireplace, the second is a skylight, then exterior paint and kitchen remodels.
Energy-efficiency is currently very appealing to potential homebuyers. This benefit alone may make installing a skylight a good investment if you’re considering selling your home.
Natural light is a great way to elevate your mood. This is a valuable health benefit for a home that might feel gloomy.
Keate said he gets lots of messages from customers after they’ve had a skylight installed saying they should have done it years ago. Making that change in your home can transform it into a new space, full of light and more attached to the outdoors. And if you decide to go with a venting skylight, you introduce fresh air and circulation. Shades are also available that can open and close to a set program, or by a remote to change the amount of light and even add insulation value when it is closed and it’s cold and dark outside. This not only helps personal health but the health of your home, as well.

Skylights are a beneficial investment to your home and your family in many ways. They add to your interior design, the functionality of your home, and provide health improvements.
A common misconception when it comes to skylights is leaking.
“We’ve been doing this for 60 years,” Keate said. “And very, very seldom do skylights leak. Most always, when there is a leak associated with the skylight, it’s just improper installation or flashing, something that can be easily fixed.”
Aladdin Skylights, along with their partner VELUX offer a 10-year warranty with their skylights. He said if it makes it past 10 years, it’ll probably go another 30 years with no issues.
Keate also said skylights require littleto-no maintenance.

Adding natural light to a space can transform any room in your home.

“Skylights that are installed on flat roofs have a tendency to get dirty and need to be cleaned more often, but the natural rain and snow self-cleans the skylights in most applications,” he said.
Sun Tunnel Skylights are another very popular option. They are great for bringing natural light into rooms like interior bathrooms that don’t have windows. Hallways, closets and laundry rooms are where we install these most often. Keate said installing a basic tubular skylight only takes his teams a couple hours and can be less than $700. The addition of a Solar Powered Nite Light can bring some light to areas where turning on an electric light in the night would normally be too much. They can also make the installation qualify for tax credits.
If you want to install a skylight in your home, remodelers, builders and glass companies will most likely be directed to Aladdin Skylights. Being in the industry since 1964, their name speaks for themselves. Keate said they get calls from customers every day, saying they’d been calling other companies and always get redirected to Aladdin Skylights.
