In the two years since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the United States has offered nearly unwavering financial support. This week, the U.S. Senate passed a bill that would grant the country $60 billion further in aid. A more controversial portion of the bill includes $14.1 billion to Israel which is still pursuing a relentless campaign in Gaza, causing international consternation about the humanitarian crisis the campaign is causing. The bill, which also includes more aid to other causes abroad, still faces a battle in the U.S. House of Representatives. Many in the house have already expressed opposition to the bill, which could mean if it does pass, a significant delay in those funds being distributed.

t their Feb. 6 meeting the Morgan County Commission declined to approve a request by County Recreation Director Lydia Hebdon to allow her department to accept private donations to help fund a NEPA [National Environmental Policy Act] study on the county fairgrounds. Last year Hebdon applied for two federal grants to help redevelop the fairgrounds, but the county did not have the funds to pay for a required study, she said. “So ultimately we weren't awarded these grants and lost the opportunity of about $1.5 million in funding for the fairgrounds project. Since that time, I've been able to find people in the community that agree that an environmental assessment should be done before we move forward with this project and are willing to privately fund it themselves.” Hebdon did not indicate who the people willing to fund the study were. A NEPA Environmental Assessment would identify the environmental impacts of redeveloping the fairgrounds. This could include looking at biodiversity, environmental justice, wetlands, air and water pollution, traffic, geotechni-

cal risks, public safety issues, and hazardous substance issues. Such a study, which would address the first phase of the fairgrounds project, would cost about $30,000, Hebdon said. The county is under a time crunch because applications for the grants are due by the end of the month, she said. “Having that testing done would then

make us eligible for federal or state funding should we choose to pursue grants again.” However, some commissioners seemed to think the action would be premature and might interfere with other

The Kansas City Chiefs eeked out another Super Bowl win in 2024 in overtime against the San Francisco 49ers, but the game, and score itself were not what made history. According to CBS, the big game had 123.4 million viewers. Put in perspective, CNN reported the numbers drew close to the broadcast of the Apollo 11 moon landings in 1969, with nothing else drawing close since. Experts attribute much of the increase to none other than Taylor Swift, who has been dominating the news cycle. The star performer’s relationship with Kansas City’s Travis Kelce has caused no small stir amongst both her fans and detractors.

While the weather in the west has been more temperate in recent weeks, the east coast, including the tri-state area, has been socked in with heavy snow. New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey are all reporting accidents, outages, and, in some cases, record snowfall. According to CNN, New York had its snowiest day in the past two years, and in Pennsylvania, some areas have reported the most snow in three years. The storm also disrupted air travel in the region, and though the window in which snow fell was relatively short, the intensity in which it fell, (over a foot in some areas), caused significant problems across the region. National Honor Society builds bears for good cause By Ethan Hoffmann

ast month the Morgan High School chapter of the National Honor Society participated in a fundraiser. On Jan. 29, students met at the high school, boarded buses requested by an advisor, and left Morgan at around 4:15. Then, the drivers transported the NHS members to Station Park, Farmington where they visited Build-A-Bear. NHS presidents decided on the service opportunity earlier this year and scheduled a date. One of the presidents called the location ahead of time to coordinate with them so that they could host the activity. According to Jessica Wiscombe, a math teacher and NHS advisor at MHS,

visiting Build-A-Bear “is something the chapter has done for years, and members really enjoy participating.” After arrival, the students were divided into two groups. Half of the students went to Build-A-Bear to make bears while the other half roamed around the local businesses and ate dinner. Then the groups switched. Previously, members paid a twenty-dollar fee in order to attend the activity and provide funding. NHS presidents worked with the financial secretaries at the school to collect the money and prepare for the expenses required. “National Honor Society members always enjoy the opportunity to create bears to give to kids in need,” commented Heidi Valdez, the second NHS advisor for the Morgan

chapter. “This is an annual event for our members. It is fun to see the members' personalities shine through the bears they design and the joy the members get by serving other kids in need.” At Build-A-Bear, members separated into pairs and were allowed to pick a bear and as many accessories as they wanted as long as the total cost was within the price range. 37 bears were made in total and all of them were donated to the Primary Children's Hospital. “I was so impressed with how the members handled themselves throughout the night,” said Wiscombe. “Build-A-Bear employees commented on how smooth the evening went, and how fun it was to see so many youths come together for a good cause.” l

Trump appeals immunity decision to Supreme Court

The appeal follows a ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals that presidents are not “above the law” during their presidencies, nor immune from prosecution after serving. The central claim of the appeal is that it is unfair to voters to prevent Trump from getting his re-election message out due to the amount of time and effort being spent on his defense against charges of involvement in attempting to hinder the election process on January 6, 2021, as well as the other federal indictments currently filed against him. The next steps taken by the Supreme Court will likely determine whether the insurrection case goes to trial before the 2024 election or not.

he 2024 Super State Tournament was held Feb. 9-10 at the Hive in Nephi, Utah. With 1,451 wrestlers from throughout the state participating in four Girls’ Divisions and nine Boys’ Divisions, competition was intense. Fourteen members of the Morgan Wrestling Club competed in the event, and five Morgan wrestlers fought their way to the podium. The Morgan team placed 31st out of 87 teams competing against some teams with over 100 wrestlers in the tournament. Decker Lott and McCrae Meibos both placed second. Beau Phillips and Beckett Lott finished fourth, and Kinley Phillips claimed fifth. The placers kept things in the family with the brother-sister duo, Beau and Kinley, and the brothers, Decker and Beckett, who were joined by cousin, McCrae. In the 2nd Grade Division, Decker claimed second place in the 75+ weight

class with a pin in the semifinals over Iron County’s Luke Castaneda (1:49). In the finals, Decker lost by decision 6-0 to Iker Almaraz of Shootbox Wrestling. Beau (fifth grade-80 pounds) claimed fourth place in his weight class. Beau opened with a win by fall (:43) before losing by fall (1:29) in the second round. Beau won three in a row in the consolation bracket (Tech Fall 16-0, Major Decision 13-1, Decision 8-4) to qualify for the Consolation Semifinals. He continued to dominate with a 17-2 tech fall in consolation semis. In the 3rd Place Match, he fell to Iron County’s Gage Lindsey by a major decision 12-4, taking fourth after a lot of tough wrestling. In the 6th Grade 90-pound division, Beckett advanced to the semifinals with a pin in the opening round (1:05) and a major in the quarterfinals (11-3). In the semis, Beckett fell to Sanderson’s Gage Southwick by fall (1:43). In the consolation semis, he won an exciting 8-6 sudden victory overtime battle to put him

In the 125-pound weight class, Meibos won his quarterfinal match by fall over Manti’s Karsen Richins (1:16). He advanced to the finals on a two-point win by decision, 11-9, over American Fork’s Kalani Faletau. In the finals, he fell by pin in the second period (2:24) to Taitum Koyle of Champions Wrestling Club. Placing in the Girls’ 7th-9th Grade Division at 110 pounds was Kinley Phillips. ith Lady Trojans head coach Sterling Mack at the controls of the scoreboard inside the Morgan High gym on Friday Feb. 9, senior Derrick Tilby was honored at center court before Morgan’s boys played Ben Lomond. The Trojans’ point guard might have been a tad embarrassed by some of his pictures that were somehow found and shared on poster boards by the student section but Tilby didn’t let it bother him one bit during Morgan’s 82-59 win at home, Friday. Two nights earlier, Tilby’s 20 points Wednesday night Feb. 7 at South Summit weren’t enough to turn around the Tro-

jans’ fortunes in a 61-51 loss for Morgan. But, that would change on a Senior Night which turned out to be an occasion that honored Tilby, who got his flowers along with team manager Tylee Archibald. As the scoreboard’s clock malfunctioned in the waning moments of the first half against Ben Lomond, the Trojans’ defense did not as they took a 36-27 lead. Opening the third quarter, Tilby had a steal, racing down the court as he went behind the back before finding Kolton Asay alone in the corner for a three-point bucket. Then, Tilby splashed a three of his own for his 10th point. With 6:23 showing on the scoreboard clock, the Trojans upped their lead to 42-29.

Jack Hurd would swish a midrange jumper from the elbow for his first two points of the game. Then, Tilby would drain his 13 point right in front of the same student section showing off some of the senior’s most mortifying childhood photos. All would be forgiven, however, as the Trojans pushed their lead out to 18 points before Ben Lomond inched it back with some timely three-point makes. Morgan [12-11, 6-4 Region 13] would watch its lead surge to as many as 22 and as little as 17 for about four minutes of that third quarter before Ben Russell would get his season-high seventh point on a jumper to put the lead back to 18, 63-45, going into the fourth.

Russell was flying high in this game, leaping for several rebounds. On an inbounds play in the backcourt early in the fourth, Russell even showed off some upper body strength, immediately passing the ball at midcourt in mid-air to an open Trojan for a layup. Midway through the fourth, Tilby then sprinted the length of the court for a layup, marking his 17 and final point. With 41 seconds left, Tilby exited to the roar of the crowd. For the Trojans who will next open the 3A tournament as the No. 7 seed against No. 10 Judge Memorial at home on Feb. 17, it was a fitting ending. l

3A Wrestling State Tournament Preview

fter finishing second in their divisional and qualifying 22 wrestlers for state, the Trojans take to the mats, today, Friday, Feb. 16, and tomorrow, Feb. 17 at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield in the pinnacle of their season: the 3A State Championships. The 22 wrestlers will be vying against the best in 3A for the one elusive honor – State Champion. Morgan qualifies a team with seven returning placers and 18 returning qualifiers. With six seniors, seven juniors, and nine sophomores, the Trojans underclassmen will be critical in their chase for a championship after finishing second to Juab the last three years. Juab, as always, is the team to beat in 3A, but South Summit will be a strong contender after winning the divisional tournament over the Trojans and taking the Region 13 title. Coming in as the underdog, the Trojans will have to wrestle stellarly and take some matches from Juab and South Summit in order to claim the team title. Morgan’s lone Wrestling State Championship came in 1962, under Bob Wilson, father of current head coach Kelly Wilson. Leading the team are the six seniors– two four-time qualifiers, Zak Sargent and Lance Toone, and three three-time qualifiers, Lane Henderson, Ezra Cadena, and Treyson Rich. Senior Tavin Allen is a first-time qualifier. Last year Sargent, Rich, and Toone placed at state. Zak Sargent (190) wrestled South Summit’s Ben Smith in the championship match last year as a junior (157) and came up just short losing by decision, 6-4, and finishing second. As a sophomore (144) he claimed third after a loss to Smith in the quarterfinals and took fifth as a freshman (126) in an abbreviated, post-Covid tournament that didn’t allow quarterfinals losers to advance to the 3rd Place match. With a 42-7 record and all of his losses coming against 5A or 6A opponents, Sargent looks well-positioned to return to the finals and bring home a championship. Rich wrestled 190 as a sophomore going 2-2 in his first state tournament. Last year at 215, he placed fifth after a tough sudden victory overtime loss in the quarterfinals to Juab’s Aiden Seely. In the fifth-place match, Rich avenged the quarterfinal loss by pinning Seely. As a divisional champion at 215 this year, Rich is positioned well to advance far into the tournament. On the other side of the bracket, returning state champion Dallin Sweat of Manti will be shooting for a repeat title and will be tough competition for Rich. Cadena wrestled 165 as a sophomore and went 0-2 at state. Last year after a great upset at the divisional tournament as a junior wrestling 190, Cadena went 1-2 at state. After placing third at divisionals, Cadena will be in the bottom 215-pound bracket with Rich and will meet him in the semifinals, if both win their opening two matches. Cadena is in good position to place at state his final year.

As a freshman (160) and sophomore (175), Lance Toone qualified but did not place. Last year, he earned sixth at 175 after battling back from a first-round loss. After placing second at divisionals, he looks to close out his senior year on the podium again. Lance will open against Juab’s Mason Ekins whose teammate Krew Galbraith tech fell at Morgan 16-0. Henderson has wrestled 285 his entire high school career. As a sophomore and junior, he went 1-2 at state. This year, as the third-place divisional qualifier, he is poised to earn a spot on the podium with victories at state. Henderson is in the bottom bracket with South Summit’s returning state champion Travyn Boger. In their bout at Morgan, Boger pinned Henderson in the first period. Tavin Allen’s third-place finish at divisionals puts him in a good spot for state. He will open against the No. 6 seed, Pierce O’Raredon, a first-year qualifier from Grantsville. The seven juniors on the team boast four three-time qualifiers: Krew Galbraith, Drew Korth, Maverick Guymon, and Ryler Jorgensen. Simoron Wardell is a two-time qualifier with Carter Meibos and Nathan Dotson making the trip to state for the first time. Korth won a state championship as a freshman at 113 pounds. It was a special night for him to celebrate with his brother, Will, who also won a state title at 126 pounds. As a sophomore (126), Korth fell to four-time state champion Dayson Torgersen from Richfield in the championship bout and took second. After winning the division, Korth is looking to return to the championship bout. Juab’s Garrett Perry is the No.1 seed at the top of the bracket. Korth beat Perry by decision, 7-2, when the Wasps visited Morgan in January. Jorgensen finished fourth (106) as a freshman and fifth as a sophomore (120). As a division champion this year, he is looking to finish on top of the podium. Juab’s Ladd Holman, the No.1 seed from

the other division, pinned Jorgensen in their matchup at Morgan in January. Jorgensen is hoping to get another shot at Holman in the championship bout and earn his first state title. Wardell qualified his freshman year (120) going 1-2 and did not place, but he finished second at divisionals this year wrestling 138 and has positioned himself well in the top bracket at state. Galbraith (150-9th, 165-10th) and Guymon (132-9th, 132-10th) are looking to place for the first time this year after gaining two years of experience at state. Guymon, now at 138, placed third at divisionals, with plans to disturb the bottom of the bracket while Wardell controls the top half. Galbraith (175) earned third at divisionals and opens at state against Juan Diego. He has put himself in a great position to place this year, but to advance to the finals, Galbraith will have to go through South Summits’ Ryker Woodward. Woodward majored Galbraith, 113, in their meeting in Morgan. After finishing sixth at divisionals, Dotson (157) will face Grantsville’s Zach Powell in his opening match. Meibos (165) opens against Union’s Denver Cloward on the bottom half of the bracket after a seventh-place finish at divisionals. Morgan’s sophomore crew features eight returning qualifiers – Gabe Toone, Skyler Crowther, Joseph Belinski, Tyson Pace, Dilyn Pentz, Luke Woolsey, Max Holtry, and Carter Wardell–and one first-timer, Chace Allen. Luke Woolsey was the only placer from the group of qualifiers as a freshman. At 113 pounds, Woolsey fell in the semis in sudden victory overtime to Delta’s Robert Meinhardt, 5-3, and finished the tournament fourth. As a division champion, Woolsey heads up the bottom of the bracket and will face Juab’s Cooper Blackett in the finals if he wins out. Blackett majored Woolsey 11-0 in their match at Morgan, and Woolsey could get another shot at him at state.

At state last year, Gabe Toone (165) and Max Holtry (106) went 2-2. This year Gabe Toone will wrestle 190 and work to place by improving his fourthplace finish at divisionals, opening against Grantsville’s Daegan Herren. Sargent pinned Herren in the first period when Morgan wrestled Grantsville and can share tips with Gabe in practice. Holtry (120) is looking to better his eighth-place finish at divisionals, but he faces a tough opening round match against the No.1 seed from Juab, Ladd Holman. As freshmen, Crowther (144), Belinski (150), Pace (132), Pentz (120), and Wardell (106) all went 1-2. With a year of experience, each wrestler looks to place this year. At 150 pounds, both Pace and Belinski will need to beat Emery’s Damon Farley who defeated both of them at divisionals. Belinski could face him in the semis, but Pace wouldn’t see him until the championship bout if he can get past Union’s Tucker Rybal, the No. 1 seed. Rybal pinned Belinski in their Region 13 bout this season. Crowther, now at 157, finished fourth at divisionals and will take on the 5th place finisher in his opening match. A win will advance him to face the No. 1 seed from the other division from Canyon View. Carter Wardell remains at 106 from last year, but with a second-place finish at divisionals, he looks to perform well in a bracket dominated by freshmen. Pentz (132), an 8th seed, will open the tournament against Juab’s first-seeded Cooper Blackett, looking for the big upset win in the first round. As a first-time qualifier, Chace Allen took third at divisionals and will open against Delta. A win will place him against Zak Sargent’s nemesis from South Summit Ben Smith. Allen has not wrestled Smith this year. l

gion 13] downshifted its high-octane offense into neutral as it cruised to an easy 53-38 victory to wrap up its Region 13 season with eight wins. Three of Morgan’s five seniors scored 11 points each on Senior Night as Abby Titus in the paint, Kaydence Wardell everywhere and Leah Birkeland from three-point land did their damage in each of the four quarters of that game. Alexis Burt added six points, Ashlyn Noss had five points and Audrey Fisher, Eva Birkeland, and Keira Brewer had two apiece for the Lady Trojans.

Two days earlier on Tuesday, Feb. 6, Morgan hosted South Summit. The Lady Trojans didn’t have the same scoring outburst that they’d have two days later versus Ben Lomond—but they still scored 14 points in the first quarter in a 65-56 win. Morgan led 27-21 at the half against the visitors from South Summit, and then kicked it into high gear, scoring 38 points in the second half including 15 points from Eva Birkeland, 12 from Abby Titus, and 10 from Keira Brewer. Ashley Burt scored eight points,

while Ashlyn Noss and Audrey Fisher each had five. Kaydence Wardell scored four points and Kamry Wardell and Leah Birkeland three apiece for Morgan. The Lady Trojans will now travel as the No. 11 seed to No. 6 Juab in the 3A second round, Feb. 16. Should Morgan win that game, the defending 3A champions would then face the winner of No. 3 Carbon and the winner of No. 14 Union-No. 19 Juan Diego on the neutral floor of the Sevier Valley Center in the 3A quarterfinals, Feb. 22. l

‘Bob Marley: One Love’ and ‘Madame Web’ both disappoint By Jenniffer Wardell The Movie Guru

A man as dynamic as Bob Marley should have a more interesting biopic. That’s the disappointing part of “Bob Marley: One Love,” which opened in theaters this week. Though it’s not a terrible movie by any means, the bland, surface-level recounting of the basic facts of Marley’s life does nothing to capture his multi-faceted personality or real power. Though Marley’s music and Kingsley Ben-Adir’s great performance do manage to stir some emotion, it’s so much less than the man himself deserves. The movie follows his life from Marley’s 1976 shooting to his 1978 One Love Peace Concert, meant to heal Jamaica from the political violence that divided it. Flashbacks to earlier years are peppered in between those two

projects. “It’s not that I don't want to do the project because you know I do - very, very much - but what I'm wondering is if we're putting the horse before the cart,” Commissioner Blaine Fackrell said. Research he has done indicates that the county may not need a full NEPA environmental assessment, he said. Commission Chair Mike Newton expressed reluctance to consider the request. While the county wants to upgrade the fairgrounds, it has not been decided whether to go after federal funding to help do so, he said. “In many cases that federal funding and the strings attached to it ends up costing you more money than it would if we just outlaid the money ourselves to do the project,” he said. “So, I'm concerned about spending $30,000 to do an EA which we may or may not need if we don’t do federal funding. I think we need to first decide are we really willing to take the federal funding, what are the strings attached and are we willing to deal with those strings that are attached to that funding. So, to me, we're a little too early here.” Although Morgan County has posted a concept plan for the fairgrounds on its website for more than 18 months, that plan has actually not been adopted by the county commission. While Newton wants to wait until that plan has been adopted, Commissioner Jared Anderson said perhaps it is time for the county to act before more opportunities for grant

points, including his absent, plantation-owning white father and meeting his wife as a teenager. The movie is also careful to highlight Marley’s Rastafarian beliefs and how they affected his life, including his desire to share his music with everyone no matter the danger or lack of resources. Sadly, the movie is careful to keep any of Marley’s contradictions safely off the screen. It highlights his relationship with his wife, but almost entirely ignores the fact that he fathered several children outside of the marriage. His impoverished childhood and the impact it had on him is also barely mentioned, as well as how Jamaica’s desire for independence from Britain shaped his music. Marley’s complexity is part of what made him so great, but this movie forgets that. Thankfully, they do have Ben-Adir. Though he looks nothing like Marley, the actor does an excellent job capturing Marley’s passion for the music and incredible on-stage presence. Watching funds are missed. “We have had a master plan that's been posted on the website [for more than 18 months] … We have had I don't know how many meetings about this master plan,” he said. “My concern is the more we say this isn't ready, we haven't approved this yet, we are missing out on funding opportunities.” Anderson supported moving forward and meeting with Division of Natural Resources representatives right away to seek information and try and meet the grant deadlines. Fackrell agreed that the county should get a plan approved on the fairgrounds but said it would not be appropriate to have Hebdon move forward with a privately funded NEPA study before then. The commission asked Hebdon to work on the grant applications while Anderson and Fackrell planned to meet with Division of Natural Resources representatives within several days to gather more information. “At the next [commission] meeting we could have maybe a consensus and submit it,” Fackrell said. It is unclear if a majority of the commission members would be supportive of Hebdon’s plan at that point (Commissioners Robert McConnell and Matt Wilson did not make any comments during the discussion), but Anderson said, “If somebody is giving the county money to do a study, as long as it doesn't hurt us, there's absolutely no reason we should turn that away.” The fairgrounds concept plan may be found on the Morgan County website. l

him create and sing is some of the best parts of the movie, and when you add Marley’s incredible music there are moments when you feel the full force of his power. If only the rest of the movie let you feel the same thing. Grade: Two stars

Madame Web (in theaters)

“Madame Web” isn’t quite as bad as 2022’s “Morbius,” but it’s awfully close. The movie, a soulless attempt to start a Spider-Girls franchise that will now never get off the ground, is a clunky plot-mash with bad CGI and zero opportunity for character development. The dialogue ranges from cheesy to terrible, thanks to “Morbius” screenwriters Matt Sazama and Burke Sharpless, and the visual tricks meant to show Madame Web’s visions will leave audiences with a headache. Worst of all, otherwise solid actor Tahir Rahim is such a genuinely terrible villain

that I couldn’t help but yearn for “Morbius”’s Matt Smith to show up and save us all with his scenery-chewing. Most frustrating of all were the glimpses of a better movie sometimes visible through the cracks. Dakota Johnson may have been an unusual choice to play Madame Web, but she gives the character a dry humor and awkward sympathy that humanizes her far more than the script. The trio of future Spider Girls – Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, and Celeste O’Connor – also do everything they can to enliven the few moments onscreen the movie gives them. It’s the interactions between them that occasionally let you see something different, lonely girls finding a family in each other, but the plot races on before we can catch more than a glimpse. If only that was the vision the “Madame Web” creative team had listened to. Grade: One and a half stars

For someone who got a late start on the current television season, John Goodman certainly is very evident in it. Before his “Roseanne”-spinoff sitcom “The Conners” began its current sixth round Wednesdays on ABC, The CW made a deal for repeats of the show, which it’s showing on Sundays and (in two back-to-back airings) Thursdays. Goodman, a Primetime Emmy winner (for “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip”) is continuing his portrayal of Dan Conner, the patriarch who’s keeping his family united in the aftermath of his wife Roseanne’s death. In a sense, “The Conners” — which will soon air its 100th episode — has brought the often gregarious Goodman full circle. Though he had some credits in movies — “Raising Arizona” (1987), “The Big Easy,” (1986), etc. — and on stage (including “Big River”) before “Roseanne,” playing Dan made him a true household name, opening him up to many more career opportunities, many of which he used his “Roseanne” hiatus time for. “Sea of Love” (1989), “Arachnophobia” (1990), “Barton Fink” (1991), “The Hudsucker Proxy” (1994) and “The Babe” (1992) were among the notable films he made during the show’s original 1988-97 run. “Roseanne” wasn’t revived until 2018 (although briefly, since circumstances led to its eventual conversion into “The Conners”), but in the interim, Goodman remained a familiar TV face. He starred in the series “Normal, Ohio,” “Center of the Universe” and “Alpha House,” but he also made impressions in recurring roles on other shows. Among those were “The West Wing,” “Extreme,” “Damages” and “Community.”

Dr. Heaton is board-certiﬁed in dermatology and is currently a member of the American Society of MOHs Surgeons. Dr. Heaton prides himself in serving all patient populations and treating all areas of dermatology from children through retirement age. Dr. Heaton performs skin cancer diagnosis and treatment, MOHS surgery, mole exam and removal, acne, warts, cyst removal, spider vein treatment, CO2 laser resurfacing, microneedling and many other skin and cosmetic related procedures.

Marc Mitton is a Utah native and cherishes the opportunity to serve the people of this beautiful state. His passion for dermatology began after receiving his own skin cancer diagnosis as a medical student. He believes that listening and being thorough are the keys to successfully practicing medicine. He specializes in skin cancer detection and removal, rashes, acne, warts and molluscum, as well as several other skin conditions. Dr. Mitton has speciﬁc interests in complex dermatological conditions and dermoscopy (the use of a light-based tool for classifying skin lesions and certain rashes). He prioritizes staying up to date on recent research, best medical practices and surgical techniques, and enjoys applying them into his practice.

Dr. Heaton received his undergraduate degree in International Relations with a minor in Asian Studies from Brigham Young University (BYU). He earned his medical degree from Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine (AZCOM) in Glendale, AZ. And completed both his internship and medical residency in Tampa, Florida.

Dr. Mitton received his undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Utah and graduated with his medical degree from Rocky Vista University in Parker, CO. He completed his intern year of residency at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery in Blacksburg, VA and his dermatology residency at Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, PA. His residency provided many opportunities for specialized training including treating potentially life-threatening skin conditions at one of the state’s burn units, training with a nationally-renowned pediatric dermatologist, and countless exposures to rare and difﬁcult-to-treat cases at conferences on a nearweekly basis through Lehigh Valley and the University of Pennsylvania.

In his spare time, Dr. Heaton enjoys snowboarding, mountain biking, vacations to Bear Lake, movies, grilling and spending time with his wife and three children at home in Bountiful.

In his free time, Dr. Mitton enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids, being outdoors, biking, board games, and especially making weekend breakfasts with specialty pancakes.
