The new Gateway Green is designed to be the MVGCSA’s flagship publication. Quarterly issues will dive deeper into Valley events, ongoing projects, Affiliate Member news and member profiles The supplemental weekly Triplex will keep you up to date on upcoming calendar happenings, any changes around the Valley and opportunities to interact with fellow members

It will take a village to replace Paul Hurst and Larry Torno’s committed workmanship with the Gateway Green, so please feel free to be open with any feed back or ideas you might have to keep our topics fresh With that in mind also know that I will be reaching out for articles, pictures and interviews Thank you to president Dan Lloyd and the Board of Directors with entrusting me with such a task, but it will take a team effort to follow in Paul and Larry’s footsteps

Enjoy!

Welcome to the first issue of the digital Gateway Green. Being tasked with taking over the controls of our main line of communication is a humbling responsibility.

A HUGE thank you to Paul Hurst is owed by all of us. His work in getting the Gateway Green started and keeping it relevant throughout the years has been a large part of our association’s success.

Presidents Message

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO ATTENDED THE ANNUAL MEETING IN NOVEMBER, WHERE ROB KICK PASSED THE TORCH AFTER FOUR OUTSTANDING YEARS OF LEADERSHIP. I WANT TO EXPRESS MY SINCERE APPRECIATION TO BOTH ROB AND KHRIS RICKMAN FOR THEIR STEADY GUIDANCE, DEDICATION, AND THE POSITIVE DIRECTION THEY’VE HELPED ESTABLISH FOR OUR ASSOCIATION AS ALWAYS, FOREST PARK DID AN EXCEPTIONAL JOB HOSTING THE EVENT

Thanks to the hard work of recent Boards and the leadership of our Executive Director, Mike Leech, the Association is in a strong, healthy position with tremendous momentum. My goal is simply to keep that momentum going and continue delivering value to our members I’m not coming in with sweeping changes no demolishing east wings or renaming bodies of water but I do have ideas to help us further elevate our professionalism, enhance services, and strengthen collaboration with our allied associations and the national GCSAA

I AM TRULY HONORED TO SERVE AS THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE MVGCSA.

This past year, the Valley significantly increased its charitable giving through scholarships, university research funding, and a substantial donation to the Wee One Foundation. While these contributions support worthy causes, each one also directly benefits our membership. We’ve expanded scholarship opportunities, including the new Valley Futures category, which helps crew members further their education and advance within our industry Our support of the University of Arkansas strengthens a valuable partnership that keeps us connected to new research and emerging technologies And the Wee One Foundation has directly supported several of our own members in difficult times, making it especially meaningful to give back. The board intends to continue this path of giving, partnership-building, and investing in the future of our profession

A big thank-you to Paul, Larry Torno, Mike Carron, and everyone who contributed to and supported The Gateway Green throughout its print era

Lastly, if you haven’t been involved with the Association recently, we’d love to welcome you back. Please feel free to reach out to me with any ideas, questions, or concerns And be sure to keep an eye on Triplex emails from Mike Leech these updates have been invaluable in keeping our membership informed and engaged Our event lineup continues to evolve, and we have a great slate planned for 2026
