This piece progresses from a somewhat bleak opening to a transcendent climax to underscore the text's meaning: that "beauty is immortal," even in the darkest times. This seemingly-romantic message is still relevant to modern life: beauty--be it in the arts, nature, or spirituality--gives us hope and emotional sustenance in times of upheaval.
