The text, taken from the Gospel of Luke, describes the moment when the Emmaus disciples walk with Jesus and invite him to stay with them, although they do not yet recognize him. It is a simple score, created in a minimal style, with slight modifications in its repetitions and an important symbolic burden. It begins with Soprano and Alto soloists, who symbolize the two disciples who speak to Jesus. In the work, the numbers 3 –which represents the divine– and 2 –the human–, as well as the sum of both (5), take on significance, hence the theme is repeated 5 times. It must be interpreted from lowest to highest expressiveness to reach its peak in the fourth repetition, written in 4 + 1 voices when adding the discantus of the solo Soprano.
