My friend, Dr. Sarah Farr, got in touch with me in the Summer of 2022 to discuss writing some songs for developing voices. This set represents the second volume of what we hope to be an ongoing project. “Dilemma” sets a text by David Budbill that is very funny. The setting should be used freely with the singers sense of comedic timing. “Beauty that is never old” is a James Weldon Johnson poem about love in the midst of life’s struggles. “The Riddle Song” is an American folk song which has been given a new harmonization Each volume is available in medium high and medium low voicing. The work was made possible by a generous grant from the Board of Trustees of the Nebraska State Colleges doing business as Wayne State College.
