About the Work
I have always believed that Christmas Eve is the most important Christmas celebration: the birth of a great Child in a humble manger, the tender gaze of his mother, the Virgin Mary, the Angel announcing the Glad Tidings to the shepherds, humanity surrendering at His feet and worshipping Him, and families around the world united in celebrating this great event. And I have always been captivated by this melody, so simple yet so magical. I am convinced that its creators, Franz Gruber and Joseph Mohr, never imagined that it would become the most famous Christmas carol, capable of inspiring great composers and arrangers and of stopping, even for a brief moment in 1914, the First World War.
Thats is why I felt the need to make my own version, trying to recreate the scene of that chapel in Obendorf (Austria) on Christmas Eve 1818.

About me
I am an active choral composer, arranger, director, and a professor of Improvisation based in Valencia, Spain. Choral music has been my passion since my childhood. I started my musical training in my hometown as a chorister at the ‘Escolanía de la Virgen’. The training of those years still influences my compositions (which are mostly sacred) and arrangements for choir and piano. In 2003, I founded the all-professional chamber choir, NEOVOCALIS, which specializes in contemporary choral music. The ensemble has premiered most of my compositions under my direction.
