Composer's Note

Only in Darkness was written to honor the "helpers" in the Las Vegas shooting in October of 2017. However, it is more broadly applicable to "helpers" in all tragedies and crises. The piece may be performed with or without narration, or the narration may be changed based to honor "helpers" of other events. If the narration is changed, directors are encouraged to use real quotations from news sources as much as possible, and to place the speaking over the instrumental sections of the piece.

Only in Darkness is available in TTB, SATB. String orchestra parts are also available, and the piece may be performed with string orchestra and piano, only string orchestra, or only piano.
