Composer's Note:

Jubilate Deo began as a gift to the Sing Omaha Girls Choir for a concert that needed a uptempo sacred piece. I composed it in a weekend and immediately took it to the choir's Sunday evening rehearsal. I set the text wtih a combination of Latin and English text in hopes of making it approachable for singers and audiences alike.

Rehearsal Notes:

Pitches and harmonic language are straightforward and will not likely present much of a challenge. The rhyhtm, however, is worth addressing right away.

The piece feature mixed compound meters in an ABA form. Speaking the text in ryhthm would be a great strategy to ensure immediate accuracy at letter A and F.

Be aware of the tempo change at letter D (which returns to Tempo Primo at F). Letters D and E are both best felt in '1' as opposed to three, and should lilt.

Text:

Jubilate Deo! Sing a joyful song! Serve the Lord with gladness. Know that He is God. Come into His presence with Joy!

Enter into His gate with thanksgiving, a nd enter into His courts with praise! Be thankful unto Him and bless His name. For the Lord is good.

His mercy is everlasting and His truth endureth to all generations!
