COME AND SEE This powerful Davidian psalm of thanksgiving opens with a universal call "shout for joy to God, all the earth," and continue the exaltation with the phrase "how awesome are your works!" Even in the most difficult times of going "through the water and through the fire," the writer counters with confirmation that he is simply being refined as precious metal is refined. When performing this song, embrace the rhythmic drive and mixed meter. Also, consider isolating rehearsals C, E and G to analyze the growth in texture and dynamic. Allow this to direct your approach from rehearsal B to the end as a slow swell to the final cadence. The performing ensemble is encouraged to choose how the song will end. Choice 1 (BOLD): Sing to m. 101 and surprise your audience by closing on the dominant chord on "shout!" Choice 2 (CLASSIC): Skip rehearsal H, jump to rehearsal I and sing to the final measure. Choice 3 (DRAMATIC): Sing rehearsal H, surprise your audience, catch them mid-applause and jump back in at rehearsal I, ending as written.
