About the Work

When I was a child, my mother taught me a prayer in Spanish similar to this one, which I used to pray with her in bed before going to sleep. Remembering her, and remembering my childhood, I composed this 'Angel of God', in which I wanted to transmit the innocence and tenderness expressed in the text. It begins with a Soprano solo, imitating the voice of a child, and the choir repeats the music three more times, always with a simple and pure character, without malice.

‘Angel of God' was premiered online by NEOVOCALIS (Lucía Durá, Soprano; Rafael Sánchez Mombiedro, conductor) on 8 October 2022 in the Communion Chapel of the Basilica of San Vicente Ferrer (Valencia).

About me

I am an active choral composer, arranger, director, and a professor of Improvisation based in Valencia, Spain. Choral music has been my passion since my childhood. I started my musical training in my hometown as a chorister at the ‘Escolanía de la Virgen’ The training of those years still influences my compositions (which are mostly sacred) and arrangements for choir and piano. In 2003, I founded the all professional chamber choir, NEOVOCALIS, which specializes in contemporary choral music. The ensemble has premiered most of my compositions under my direction.
