About the Work This Alleluia is dedicated to my wife, María José, on the occasion of our silver wedding anniversary. It is a short but intense work full of symbolism, built from a single motif of repeated ascending notes. The beginning is hesitant and uncertain, with three outbursts of a theme that does not finish developing and interaction between Sopranos and the other voices. This is followed by a more confident development of the motif, conditioned by the female and male voices. After a great crescendo comes a triumphal and joyful moment, very hopeful, which becomes more nostalgic with the memory of the beginning. The end is very serene, it describes a great inner peace. The fact that the tonic chord (D) only appears three times, twice in the climax and the third time in the finale, stands out in this work.

About me I am an active choral composer, arranger, director, and a professor of Improvisation based in Valencia, Spain. Choral music has been my passion since my childhood. I started my musical training in my hometown as a chorister at the “Escolanía de la Virgen”. The training of those years still influences my compositions (which are mostly sacred) and arrangements for choir and piano. In 2003, I founded the all-professional chamber choir, NEOVOCALIS, which specializes in contemporary choral music. The ensemble has premiered most of my compositions under my direction.
