About the Work I feel a special predilection for Jesus' speech to his disciples at the Last Supper, which is recorded in John's Gospel. I imagine an intimate scene, very close, of great empathy with his own.
In Abide in my Love I have tried to describe the serenity, tenderness and love that the text exudes. The structure is very simple: an introduction that sets the scene, two sections each with a double exposition of the text and an emotional and emphatic refrain, and a coda similar to the introduction that immerses the listener in an atmosphere of peace and serenity. Abide in my Love was premiered by NEOVOCALIS, conducted by myself, on 2 April 2022 whitin the HOPE project. Rafael Sánchez Mombiedro
About me I am an active choral composer, arranger, director, and a professor of Improvisation based in Valencia, Spain. Choral music has been my passion since my childhood. I started my musical training in my hometown as a chorister at the ‘Escolanía de la Virgen’. The training of those years still influences my compositions (which are mostly sacred) and arrangements for choir and piano. In 2003, I founded the all-professional chamber choir, NEOVOCALIS, which specializes in contemporary choral music. The ensemble has premiered most of my compositions under my direction.
