Welcome to the 2025–2026 season at The Music Hall! If there’s one thing we love around here, it’s a reason to celebrate—and this year, we’ve got plenty.

First up: Writers on a New England Stage turns 20! That’s two decades of unforgettable conversations, standing ovations, and stories that stayed with us long after the final page. Huge thanks to our incredible partners at New Hampshire Public Radio for helping us make literary magic on stage for all these years.

And we’re not stopping there. This fall, we launched the Seacoast LitFest—a brand new, multi-day celebration of books, ideas, and community. It’s the next chapter in our literary journey, and we can’t wait to begin planning for next year's festival.

We’re also turning up the spotlight on all things film. From Telluride by the Sea, to our yearround lineup of handpicked indie gems, to our newest adventure as stewards of the New Hampshire Film Festival, we’re going all-in on cinematic storytelling.

Oh—and did we mention we bought a building? Not just any building—the Kearsarge House, one of Portsmouth’s historic gems, is now part of The Music Hall campus. This new chapter gives us space to dream even bigger.

As always, none of this would be possible without our phenomenal staff—seriously, they’re rockstars—and our dedicated Board of Trustees, whose support and trust in our vision continue to shape our path forward.

And of course, you. Whether you’re a longtime member, first-time visitor, or somewhere in between, you are the heartbeat of this place. Your applause, your support, your belief in what we do—it means everything.

As a non-profit, we rely on the generosity of friends like you to help us fulfill our mission to serve as an active and vital arts center for the enrichment of the Seacoast community.

Tax-deductible contributions in support of The Music Hall’s Annual Fund keep our performances and shows accessible to all by keeping ticket costs down and spreading the incredible benefits of participation in the arts across our community. Through your support, we’re able to offer:

• our School Days Series of professional theater for young people, including scholarship support for schools serving students with limited financial means;

• our Give the Gift of Magic and Music program to provide complimentary tickets to neighbors in need;

• experience and assistance to artists building their careers with financial awards from our Emerging Artist Grant Program and travel allowances for filmmakers and film industry professionals attending our New Hampshire Film Festival;

• and many more educational and accessibility initiatives.

Annual Fund contributions also allow us to preserve and maintain our 145-year-old theater facilities to ensure that it maintains its status as the heart of the arts in the Seacoast for many years to come.

TICKET FEES:

The fees you pay when purchasing tickets cover the expenses associated with offering both in-person and user-friendly online box office services. As labor and technology costs continue to rise, we continually work hard to manage our nonprofit business to keep ticket fees as low as possible while ensuring that they are considerably less than or on par with other venues, especially those who have outsourced their ticketing to national ticketing companies.

Walk-up – $8.50 ($30 and above)

REFUNDS & EXCHANGES: Can’t make a performance? Music Hall members of any level may return their tickets to the Patron Services team up to 48 hours before the event and receive a credit for the ticket value, which can be applied to future ticket purchases. Credits are valid up to 12 months after they are issued. Not a member? You can convert your tickets into a tax-deductible donation to The Music Hall up to 48 hours prior to an event. The Music Hall reserves the right to update its exchange policy at any time. For the most current information, please visit our website or contact the Patron Services team.

WEATHER: If the performers are at the theater, the show will go on! The Music Hall does not offer refunds or exchanges to those unable to attend an event because of weather; please

PARKING: The Music Hall’s downtown campus does not include designated parking. The Foundry Place Garage (100 Foundry Place) is about a 5-minute walk from The Historic Theater, and the Hanover Parking Garage (2 Hanover Street) and Worth Parking Lot (25 Maplewood Avenue) are also within walking distance. We encourage all guests to visit www.ParkPortsmouth.com for the latest updates and parking options.

GENERAL POLICIES: No pets at events. No weapons or outside food and drink permitted in our buildings. Music Hall management reserves the right to refuse service.

GROUP SALES: Families, friends, and organizations of 10 or more can receive discounts on tickets, including 15% off for our holiday productions with the Ogunquit Playhouse. We also offer pre-show gathering spaces and other amenities as available. Please email groupsales@themusichall.org for more information about group sales for any event.

ACCESSIBILITY:

• Wheelchair spaces and accessible seating options are available for purchase in both the Historic Theater and the Lounge. These seats are reserved for patrons with disabilities and their guests and are offered at the lowest publicly advertised ticket price. Please make any special seating requests when ordering your tickets. Wheelchair seating can be purchased online.

• Sensory bags are available to check out from the Historic Theater Box Office. Each includes a wiggle cushion, sound-reducing earmuffs, a weighted lap blanket, sunglasses, fidgets, and a social story. A printed version of our “Going to The Music Hall” social story is also available to help prepare for your visit.

• Historic Theater:

• Assistive Listening Devices, booster cushions for children, and seat & back cushions for adults are available to borrow at the Historic Theater Box Office. These offerings are supported by McKeon Charitable Giving.

• Multi-level facility; staffed elevator provides access to the orchestra level and upper concessions lobby.

• Balcony access via stairs from the orchestra level.

• Accessible restrooms located in the lower lobby.

• Elevator dimensions: approx. 35” wide by 54” deep.

• Entry at the corner of Chestnut & Porter Streets.

• The Lounge:

• Multi-level facility with elevator access to lower-level restrooms.

• Members Club:

• Main entrance on Chestnut Street. ADA-accessible entrance available through the Historic Theater.

• During Members Club hours when the theater is closed, ring the doorbell at the Members Club entrance for assistance.

• A ramped hallway connects the theater and the Club.

• A platform lift provides access to McKeon’s Bar and two ADA restrooms.

• Please note: there is no lift access to the two lower-level rooms in the Members Club.

The Music Hall is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our guests to enjoy their visit to at each of our venues. We encourage you to review our safety and security information below prior to arriving at the venue.

AT THE HISTORIC THEATER

PATRON POLICIES

• Firearms and weapons are prohibited on the property.

• Bag checks, metal detection, or pat-down, may be conducted.

• Backpacks, and bags larger than 9" x 12" x 4" are prohibited.

• Pets are not allowed. Service animals are allowed.

• Theater doors will be locked 45 minutes after the scheduled showtime for live events and 15 minutes for films.

• Re-entry is not allowed during films.

• The Music Hall reserves the right to deny entry.

SECURITY & ENTRY PROCEDURES

• On-Site Security: Trained security personnel will be present at all live events to monitor the venue and assist with crowd management.

• Bag Checks, Metal Detectors, Pat-downs: Patrons may be subject to bag checks and/or screening with hand-held metal detectors or pat-downs. Our hired security team will conduct these screenings.

• For all live events, the front doors will be locked 45 minutes after the scheduled showtime or immediately after intermission ends. However, patrons may still exit and re-enter as needed, as staff will be present to monitor the entrance. There is no re-entry during films.

Proceeds from this event directly support The Music Hall’s mission to invigorate audiences, nurture healthy communities, and drive economic vitality in the region.

At our third annual Emerging Artist Benefit Concert on May 11, 2025, we were thrilled to welcome the one and only Sara Bareilles to The Music Hall, and equally excited to spotlight five remarkable Emerging Artist Grant recipients. Grand Prize Winners of the 2025 Emerging Artist Grant Award, Harrison Goodell and Halley Neal, served as opening acts for the event while runner-up winners Skye Darling, Preston Lydotes, and Abrielle Scharff performed live prior to the program. All received cash awards to support their career development as well as mentoring from Music Hall staff.
