In its first volume, the publication Communicating Vessels explores five of the eight episodes articulating the re-arrangement, under the same title, of the Museo Reina Sofía Collection, which was unveiled in 2021 to revise certain deficiencies and gaps in the traditional historiography of art and with a critical approach situated in the present. Therefore, the book brings together the main lines of research underpinning these five episodes — which stretch from the late nineteenth century to the 1970s — in addition to historical texts and essays which examine specific case studies, for instance urban transformation in the first decades of the twentieth century, Spanish Republican exile and neo-avant-garde experiences in Latin America.
