School’s out for Summer, and Nolensville has plenty to celebrate! This year, our community proudly recognized graduates at every level — from Kindergarten to Senior Year. Congratulations to all of our graduates! We are incredibly proud of your accomplishments and look forward to seeing the amazing things you will achieve in the years ahead.

Preserving The Past

A Grand Restoration: The Morton-Brittain House is Saved

The Nolensville Historical Society proudly presented a golden key to the Dugger Family at a ceremony to celebrate a piece of our Town's history being preserved. After a little over seven years of fundraising, hard work and dedication, the restoration of our "Grand Ole' Lady" was celebrated on Saturday, May 9th, 2026, marking the triumphant completion of the Morton-Brittain House restoration. The celebration honored seven years of community fundraising, tireless volunteer labor, and unwavering dedication to preserve a vital piece of local heritage. A vibrant crowd gathered to celebrate the milestone, including passionate supporters, skilled tradesmen, historical society committee members, and descendants of the Brittain family.

On February 4, 2019, crews relocated the house from 7186 Nolensville Road into the Historic District on Sam Donald Court, protecting her from modern develop-

ment and destruction. Heritage Foundation CEO, Bari Beasley witnessed the move and exclaimed "This IS preservation." Structural mover Don Toothman helped navigate the late-night relocation, which required freeing one of the three transport trailers after it became stuck on a bridge. The resilient "Grand Ole Lady" has now weathered a 1900s tornado, development, structural mishaps, and even recent vandalism when rocks shattered the original 1870s curved glass windows. Project Manager and Nolensville Historical Society Vice President Dave Carpenter emphasized the dedication to historical accuracy, noting that elements like the 11-inch baseboards having to be entirely custom-made to match the originals. "The Nolensville Historical Society wanted to show the Town that preserving a historical structure can be done, and we have proved it."

During the process, volunteers discovered hidden doors and secret passages. In return, the community gave back a somewhat secret time capsule wall of personally signed and

decorated 2x4s from donating supporters.

On the most beautiful spring day, the home opened its doors to reveal its transformation. The porch welcomed guests with shade, sweet tea, lemonade, and water. The Interior hosted gathering tables in every room, featuring a beautiful charcuterie spread. The History Room displayed a scrolling video presentation; historic family photos, and hands-on architectural artifacts showcased the restoration process.

Engraved hammers were presented to our faithful leaders: original project manager Greg Bruss; completion project manager Dave Carpenter; property owner Tommy Dugger; structural engineer Ted Lathers; and doer of all Mark Wrye. Father Simpson of St. Michael's Catholic Church and Reverend James Scruggs of Ebenezer United Methodist Church gave blessings as the crowd gathered inside the house.

Wilco Strength Lab Health and Fitness Event

Thanks to all the local businesses who supported our recent Health & Fitness Event! Wilco Strength Lab recently brought the community together for a high-energy health and fitness event designed to inspire movement, strength, and connection. Attendees of all fitness levels had the opportunity to meet many local businesses in the wellness industry, meet experienced trainers, and learn practical tips for building sustainable wellness routines. With a welcoming atmosphere and a focus on community, the event highlighted Wilco Strength Lab’s commitment to helping local residents feel stronger, healthier, and more confident in their everyday lives.

GREAT ESTATE Buying Event

This has been a wonderful tenth year at Nolensville High School! We truly enjoyed celebrating this milestone with our community. It has been a pleasure to see our neighbors at events like First Friday, Homecoming, Cookies with Santa, and Songwriters on Summerlyn. We look forward to continuing these events and finding more ways to connect with the people who make this town so special.

As you all know, Nolensville High School is known for its excellence in academics, athletics, and the arts, and our amazing students have continued in that tradition.

NHS was once again named a Reward School for the 2024-2025 school year! This past year, we awarded 20 AP Capstone Diplomas for the first time in school history. We had more students than ever take AP courses and pass their exams. We also had 8 National Merit Finalists—a school record! Finally, our senior class was offered over 21 million dollars in college scholarships. I am so impressed by the teaching and learning that is happening at Nolensville High School.

this year’s show, “Reunited,” which paid homage to our talented alumni. In fact, this was just the beginning of a year full of amazing accomplishments from our Fine Arts department. Our theater students performed in several shows, including Hades Town and Into the Woods, taking home multiple state awards. Our choir and orchestra students also took home statelevel honors, while our visual art students excelled in the WCS Art Throwdown competition. In May, the WCS Fine Arts Showcase featured multiple NHS students for outstanding nominations in multiple categories. We are so proud of our fine arts students and their accomplishments.

Not surprisingly, our Knight athletes also saw great success this year. Our football team had an incredible run and made it to the second round of playoffs this season. Our wrestling team brought home numerous accolades and state championship titles. Our Lady Knights basketball team took home the district championship, and our softball and baseball teams were both regular season and tournament district champions. The NHS golf team had a notable season, and our allNolensville hockey team were the Predators Cup runners-up! Our boys’ tennis team made it to the state semifinals, and our boys

on our lacrosse team held on to their state champion title! Finally, our track and field team took home second place in the state, along with several individual titles. This was truly an exciting year for our athletes—go Knights!

As always, we wrapped up the 20252026 school year with graduation. We want to thank the Class of 2026 for all they have contributed to Nolensville High School. We wish you all the best as you embark on new journeys.

Most importantly, whether we are celebrating academic achievements, artistic talents, athletic titles, or the success of another senior class, I recognize that none of these accolades would be possible without the hard work and commitment of our teachers, students, and families. I am so grateful for this community and all that it pours into Nolensville High School. This year has been a constant reminder that in Nolensville, we are ONE!

The Nolensville Police Department Welcomes Taylor Gray as Our New Crisis Response Program Coordinator

Taylor’s position was made possible through a grant awarded to the Nolensville Police Department by the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, supporting our continued commitment to enhancing crisis response efforts and strengthening partnerships within our community. The grant-funded position is currently funded through September 30, 2027.

In her role, Taylor will develop and maintain strategic partnerships with local mental health, behavioral health, and social service providers to strengthen coordinated crisis response and referral services within our community. She will support

Taylor earned her master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and completed her undergraduate studies at Belmont University. She is trained and certified in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) for first responders and in trauma-focused

treatment for adults.

Taylor currently serves as a crisis counselor in Davidson County, assisting individuals experiencing mental health crises both in the community and within crisis diversion units. She previously worked alongside the Metro Nashville Police Department’s Behavioral Health Division and with the Family Intervention Program, supporting victims of domestic violence and other crimes.

Her professional passion is strengthening partnerships between law enforcement and the communities they serve. Taylor is committed to reducing the stigma surrounding mental health and enhancing crisis response efforts through collaboration, education, and compassion.

Lance Sutton, Fire Marshal

The Town of Nolensville is pleased to welcome Lance Sutton as its new Fire Marshal. With more than 25 years of distinguished service in emergency operations, fire investigation, and life safety management, Sutton brings a wealth of experience essential for supporting a rapidly growing community. His extensive work across municipal, commercial, and industrial environments positions him to elevate Nolensville’s fire prevention and community risk-reduction efforts through proactive strategies and comprehensive public education.

Prior to joining the Town of Nolensville, Sutton served in multiple capacities with Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue, including Fire Captain, Fire Inspector, Engineer, and Firefighter. During his tenure, he led emergency response operations, coordinated community safety initiatives, and oversaw complex fire investigations. Most recently, he applied his skills as a

Fire & Life Safety Specialist with Bureau Veritas Group N.A. and as a Contract Fire Investigator with Keystone Experts and Engineers, focusing on fire scene analysis, supporting code compliance, and providing risk assessments for residential, commercial, and industrial properties.

“I’m honored to step into the role of Fire Marshal for the Town of Nolensville,” Sutton said. “This town is growing rapidly, and I’m excited to help ensure its safety through proactive fire prevention, community education, and strong partnerships. It’s a privilege to serve and protect a community that values both tradition and progress.”

Sutton holds a Bachelor of Science in Fire Administration from Columbia Southern University and an Associate of Applied Science in Fire Science from Volunteer State Community College. His certifications include Fire Officer IV, Incident Safety Officer, NAFI- Fire & Explosives

Investigator, Fire Inspector/Plans Examiner, Technical Rescue Operations, and several other specialized areas of fire safety and emergency response.

Nolensville Fire & Rescue Fire Chief, Matthew Lupo stated, “With Lance joining our team, Nolensville gains a strategic leader who understands the complexities of modern fire and life safety operations.” Lupo continued, “His commitment to proactive prevention and community engagement perfectly aligns with Nolensville Fire & Rescue’s mission to provide the highest level of safety and service to the residents of Nolensville.”

Originally from Georgia, Sutton moved to Tennessee in 2000. He currently resides on a family farm with his wife and 16-year-old daughter, where they help raise sheep, goats, and cattle alongside his in-laws. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, staying active in his church, and has recently developed a love for pickleball.

Nolensville is incredibly proud of Hudson, Moeller, and Matthew McCarter for reaching the state semifinals! They unfortunately lost their match to Severe County with scores of 2 to 6 and 3 to 6. The Knights Doubles team had an amazing season, and we’re all so proud of them!

Nolensville Knights’ Remarkable Run

Behind a 31–11 record and back-to-back postseason success, Nolensville’s 2026 squad delivers another historic year fueled by teamwork, community, and pride.

ur 2026 Nolensville High Baseball season ended with a 31-11 record, a third straight district championship, and a second appearance in the state tournament in the past three years. It was an unbelievable group of young men to coach and a year full of memories that will last a lifetime.

Highlights from this year include our trips to Knoxville and Cary, NC, winning the regular season district championship, winning the district tournament championship, and winning the sectional series at Siegel to advance to the state tournament.

A special thank you to our amazing group of seniors — Kael Barney, Kyson Barney, Watts Corum, Wyatt Clatur, Caleb Gilbert, Griffin Hendrickson, Hayden Hupka, Jimmy Marzullo, Evan McElvain, Aiden Oppenheimer, and Beckham Thompson. They have been tremendous ambassadors for our program and have helped elevate Nolensville Baseball to what it is today.

he Historic Nolensville Buttercup Festival Committee would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make this year’s festival such a wonderful celebration of our community and historic district.

Williamson County Schools is excited to announce the Valedictorians and Salutatorians for the Class of 2026.

Valedictorians and salutatorians are the top students in their class. They qualify for the highest Latin system honor at their school, score at least a three on the exams in all Advanced Placement (AP) classes they are enrolled in, score at least 75 percent on the exams in all International Baccalaureate (IB) classes they are enrolled in and have completed at least 20 hours of community service. Some schools have multiple valedictorians and salutatorians to recognize.

“We are so excited to see what the future holds for these graduates,” said WCS Superintendent Jason Golden. “Their hard work and dedication are inspiring, and we’re proud of their accomplishments.”

Creating a Legacy with N HS Head Lacrosse Coach, Tom Pettit

We have an amazing group of boys this season. Led by our senior class, who have been unbelievable over the last four years. They changed his program into a championship program, and I know the coaches, the parents, and the school are very proud of them.

Our motto is to get better every single day. This team, this season, really lives by that. We practiced in the fall, we hit the weight room and conditioning in the winter, and we prepared our ourselves with a hard schedule in the spring. Our boys have worked extremely hard to get to where they are today.

Led by Coach Robby Moore, the defense was a force all spring. They let up

more than 10 goals in only two games and averaged 5.5 goals game. Braden Olsen was an unbelievable goalie this season as he has been throughout his career. Saving 71% of the shots this year and ending his career with the most sales in Tennessee lacrosse history. Seniors Zach Hueneke and Hudson Trautman anchored our defense down low. Seniors Landon Bowman and Walker Garrand patrolled the midfield as two of the best SSDMs in the state.

Landon Henninger emerged as one of the best faceoff players in the area Dominating the X and gobbling up ground balls all spring. He was a game changer in the championship game.

Offensively the Knights were explosive. Averaging almost 13 goals a game. They got major production from their attack unit senior Aaron Sylvester, who eclipse 200

career points on Friday, led the Knights all year. Senior Mack Bakke, Ty Gilbo, and Finley Breaux were huge contributors on the offense.

After going 3-0 in the region and defeating old rivals, Ravenwood, Brentwood, and Franklin, we set ourselves up for a good playoff run. Earning home field advantage against Hardin Valley and Farragut really helped us secure victories and advance to the championship game. Our semifinal game against Farragut was a battle and was a very important game for us.

We had a lot of unsung heroes on this team. Players that did the little things all year and were great teammates.
