It’s more than where we work, it’s where we live. It’s where we raise families. Where we show up for one another – in the everyday and in the unexpected. It’s where names are neighbors, and care is connection. It’s about the people.

Celebrate Community

July has arrived. Summer is in full swing, and America is now 250 years old! Our town kicked off the month with a fantastic Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration at Nolensville High School, where neighbors and friends gathered to celebrate our nation's freedom. We are truly fortunate to live in a community that values its citizens and local businesses through exceptional leadership. This month, let's take a moment to thank our town leaders, first responders, and the many volunteers who work tirelessly to keep Nolensville a safe, welcoming, and wonderful place to call home.

Now it's time to celebrate summer! Over the next few weeks, we'd love to see how your family is making memories. Whether you're enjoying a vacation, spending time at the pool, attending community events, or simply relaxing in your backyard, send us your favorite summertime photos. Your family could be featured in an upcoming issue of Nolensville Town Life! Our mission has always been to highlight the people, families, and moments that make our community so special.

We also welcome your ideas for future stories. If you know of a local business, school, nonprofit organization, or individual making a positive impact, please let us know. This is your magazine, and we want it to reflect the people and stories that matter most to our community.

As Nolensville Town Life continues sharing inspiring stories each month, we want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to our advertisers. Their continued support makes this magazine possible and helps us celebrate everything that makes Nolensville unique. From family-owned businesses to growing local companies, our advertisers are an important part of our community and local economy. We encourage you to support them whenever you can. Every visit, purchase, recommendation, and kind word helps strengthen the businesses that invest in our town and contributes to a thriving community for everyone.

As you enjoy the rest of your summer, I encourage you to look for the good in others, lend a helping hand whenever you can, and continue building the strong sense of community that makes Nolensville such a special place to live.

I hope to see you around town!

"Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves." — Romans 12:10

E-Bike Safety Policy New Rules in Place for Student Safety in 2026-27

Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, students who want to ride e-bikes or other electronically powered transportation devices to school will be asked to complete a required safety training session.

The new procedures are designed to promote safe transportation practices and help schools maintain a secure environment for students, staff, and visitors.

“For months, we’ve partnered with local municipalities and law enforcement to find new ways to help families understand the risks of electronic transportation,” said WCS Superintendent Jason Golden. “This is a true community effort to keep students safe, and these training sessions are an important next step.”

As part of the new requirements, 3rd through 12th-grade students who wish to

ride an e-bike, e-scooter, or other electronically powered personal transportation device to school must complete the training session with a parent or guardian before bringing the device to campus.

Following the training, students will have to register their transportation devices with their school and display a school-issued identification tag, similar to vehicle parking permits used on high school campuses. Schools will maintain the registration information for each device, including

the type of transportation, manufacturer and model.

The new expectations are part of the district’s updated Student Transportation Policy, approved by the Williamson County School Board on June 15. Riding an e-bike, e-scooter or other electronic transportation device to school is considered a privilege and may be revoked if students fail to follow safety expectations. Additional information, including campus-specific expectations, will be shared by individual schools before the start of the 2026-27 school year.

Children’s Art Classe s

Each year, Children’s Art Classes in Nolensville concludes with a special Art Show celebrating the growth, creativity, and accomplishments of every student. More than an exhibition, the event gives students the opportunity to see their artwork professionally displayed and appreciated by family and friends.

Experiences like these help build confidence and self-esteem as students recognize the value of their hard work and artistic progress. From learning new techniques and developing skills

through a structured curriculum to completing meaningful projects, the Art Show brings the entire creative journey together in a memorable and rewarding way.

If your child is ready to grow creatively in a supportive environment while building confidence and enhancing problem solving skills, now is the perfect time to enroll. Learn more about Children’s Art Classes and reserve your student’s place.”

Fall registration is now open with the QR code and studio contact information.

Home Field Pride NHS Updates the Stadium

Aswe close out year 10 at Nolensville High School, our athletic facilities are beginning an exciting new chapter with upgrades that reflect the care, coordination, and shared commitment of many across our community.

The football field has been transformed with brand-new turf, creating a safer, more consistent playing surface that elevates every practice and competition. This update is the result of thoughtful planning and hands-on work led by our district, ensuring the space continues to serve our students at the highest level. Alongside it, the track has been updated, restoring a smooth surface that supports many of our programs.

Adding to the excitement, a new videoboard is currently going up—a project that was only made possible through the generosity of our Nolensville sponsors and families, and the dedication of our students and faculty. What makes this addition especially meaningful is the way it was embraced and supported across the entire community. From the earliest conversations to the final push, it has been a true collective effort.

Together, these improvements reflect a continued commitment to spaces where students grow, teams compete and perform, and the community comes together. We are deeply proud of what these updates represent—our shared pride in the school, our belief in students, and the strong connection that binds us to the

community around us. Each update contributes to an environment that feels more welcoming, more vibrant, and ready for the moments ahead.

We can’t wait for everyone to see and experience these enhancements this fall.

First Citizen’s Ice Cream Day

Southern Roots. Family Oriented. Service First. Southern Air & Electric

Anyone who hasn’t had the pleasure of meeting Scott King yet might naturally assume he takes his job very seriously.

They wouldn’t necessarily be wrong about that, either. After all, he comes from a family of hard-working folks who have called Williamson County home for more than 200 years. Even Scott has worked tirelessly since he was 16, earning his electrical licenses and master mechanical license before jumping out on his own at just 23 years old. Fast forward to today, and his company, Southern Air & Electric, has built a 40-year reputation that residents of Murfreesboro, Smyrna, Nolensville, and greater Rutherford County can rely on for years to come.

But not-so-far beneath that seemingly all-business exterior is a friend and neighbor who constantly has a smile on his face, genuinely loves what he does for a living, and never misses an opportunity to have a little fun.

Hence, the reason you’re seeing him and his son, Tyler, decked out in lab coats and stethoscopes for a photo shoot.

“We could be boring, but that’s not our style,” Scott said with a laugh. “We’re your friendly neighborhood HVAC and electric diagnosticians; we’ll figure out what’s wrong with your system and fix it.”

He added, “We want your family to stay cool and comfortable for every season.”

That right there is the name of the game in Scott’s profession, especially this time of year, as thermostats near and far begin to climb, and systems that previously never gave you a single problem suddenly break down or start struggling to keep up. Southern Air & Electric is exactly who you want to call in these situations. Scott, Tyler, and the rest of the team are fully licensed in heating, air, and plumbing— which means they can handle everything from screwing in a lightbulb and turning a wrench to replacing a leaking water heater, installing a new HVAC system, preventative maintenance, or tackling the

unexpected repairs that always seem to happen at the worst possible time.

“But is there ever a ‘good time’ for these things to happen?” Scott said.

“That’s exactly why we’re here.”

Southern Air & Electric’s services truly run the gamut, including duct cleaning, home automation installations, electrical installations, and a wide array of plumbing services, allowing customers to work with the same trusted professional for all their home comfort needs.

They work with residential and commercial clients and are a TVA EnergyRight® partner. They are also a Keen HVAC distributor and offer financing through Wisetack.

Off the clock, Scott is a husband, father to three children, and a Master Mason who belongs to two Masonic Lodges. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Millcreek Masonic Lodge #775 in Nolensville, and is a Knights Templar. Not to be outdone, he also serves as Vice President of the Widows’ Sons, an appendant body of the Grand Lodge of Tennessee. Through these organizations, Scott helps raise funds for underprivileged children, donates to food banks, and supports Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a nonprofit that provides beds to children in need.

For Scott and his team, it’s all in a day’s work—personally and professionally.

“My hands are on every project we do,” Scott said. “From changing a lightbulb to

installing mechanical systems in shopping malls, each job requires detail and care. We don’t have customers—we have relationships and neighbors. When you build strong relationships with integrity, you never worry about the next customer.”

Looking for a better home service provider? Look no further than Southern Air & Electric. They offer top-quality HVAC, heating, cooling, electrical, and plumbing services to Middle Tennessee. Sherry J.

“Channell Sealants did an outstanding job sealing our driveway, sidewalks and front porch. Every part of the aggregate concrete was covered very well. Even used a paint brush to get against the garage doors without marking the doors. Driveway has a steep slant so not easy. All of it looks so much better. Very glad we hired them for this project.”

John S.

“Job - clean and seal aggregate driveway. Quick estimate, thorough explanation of job scope, and did exactly what he committed to. Looks great! Would recommend.”

David H.

“They did an outstanding job and I highly recommend them. What sets Channell Sealants apart from others?

They thoroughly pressure wash so no stains or blemishes get sealed into the surface.

They completely fill all joints with crack filler, which looks great and helps prevent water from penetrating and freezing, which can expand the cracks.

They use a high-quality sealer that is much better than the typical big box store products. Their cleanup is very thorough.

They did such a great job the last time that we didn’t even consider trusting anyone else this time. The sealant has held up well for the past two years. Give them a call—you won’t be disappointed.”

Building a More Compassionate Response: Nolensville Police Department Initiatives

Over the past six months, the Nolensville Police Department has continued its commitment to serving every member of our community with professionalism, compassion, and innovation. While public safety remains our primary mission, we recognize that many emergencies involve more than traditional law enforcement issues. One of our major areas of focus has been improving how we respond to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, autism-related situations, and other special needs. Officers have received additional training in de-escalation and crisis response, and the department has established a Crisis Negotiation Team to provide specialized assistance during critical incidents.

patience and understanding.

The department has also expanded training opportunities for officers, strengthened partnerships with neighboring agencies, and continued to work toward improving responses to behavioral health crises. These efforts reflect a growing understanding that many calls for service involve medical, developmental, or mental health needs rather than criminal behavior.

In June, the department hosted its first Autism Awareness and Special Needs Community Day in partnership with local families and organizations. The event allowed officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and community members to meet in a relaxed setting, helping build trust and understanding before emergencies occur. Families learned about resources available to them, while first responders gained valuable insight into how sensory sensitivities and communication differences can affect interactions.

Another recent initiative is the Blue Envelope Programs, the program provides drivers with autism, developmental disabilities, or communication challenges with a highly visible blue envelope containing their driver's license, registration, insurance information, and emergency contact information. During a traffic stop or emergency, the envelope immediately alerts first responders that the individual may communicate differently or require additional

Community engagement has remained a priority as well. Officers participated.in neighborhood events, Juneteenth celebrations, school programs, traffic safety initiatives, and collaborative efforts with local faith leaders and civic organizations. The department has also established a Critical Incident Negotiation Team and continues to pursue specialized training and equipment designed to create safer outcomes for everyone involved.

Chief Dale Armour believes these programs reflect the department's philosophy that effective policing is built on relationships. "Our goal is simple," "We want every person in our community to know that when they need help, they will be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. Building those relationships before a crisis occurs helps us provide better service and safer outcomes for everyone."

As Nolensville continues to grow, the police department remains committed to finding new ways to serve, educate, and partner with the community while ensuring that public safety remains rooted in trust and understanding.

Meet Katie White The Town of Nolensville's Chief Information Officer

IFsomeone asked me to describe Nolensville, the public relations professional in me would describe the town with three words: community, history, and proximity. But my real answer is much simpler — I think of home.

Originally from Morgantown, West Virginia, I grew up surrounded by the kind of smalltown charm that leaves a lasting impression. It was the place where you ran into your school teacher at the grocery store, recognized familiar faces everywhere you went, and always felt connected to your community. Those experiences shaped who I am long before I realized just how special they were.

Growing up in Morgantown, I had the privilege of serving as the 2014 Monongalia County Fair Queen and Miss West Virginia All-Star United States 2016. While attending West Virginia University, I served as Section Leader for the Pride of West Virginia, Mountaineer Marching Band Color Guard while earning my bachelor's degree in Strategic Communications with an emphasis

in Public Relations and a minor in Communication. Those experiences strengthened my passion for leadership, communication, and serving others — qualities that continue to guide me today.

In the fall of 2019, my now husband, Jon, and I moved to Murfreesboro with our dog, Owen, and cat, Oliver, for Jon to pursue a Master of Fine Arts in Recording Arts and Technologies at Middle Tennessee State University. Leaving the only home I had ever known was both exciting and challenging. Then, like so many others, I found myself working remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic in a brand-new state where I knew very few people. As the months passed, I realized how much I missed that small-town sense of belonging.

After working in bank marketing, I decided to take a chance and apply for a position in local government. In September 2021, I became the Town of Nolensville's first Communications Officer, a role that has since evolved into the Town's Public

Information Officer.

Every day is different, and that's exactly what I love about my job. I collaborate with Town departments, committees, administration, and the Board of Commissioners to create social media content, write media releases, coordinate interviews, and communicate important information to our residents. Every day brings a new opportunity to serve this community.

As I immersed myself in Nolensville through community events and Town initiatives, I realized something unexpected—the same welcoming spirit I grew up with in West Virginia exists here. Nolensville is a place where neighbors know one another, history is celebrated, and people genuinely care about their community.

Over the years, I have realized that home isn't simply where you grow up — it's where you find purpose, build relationships, and belong. That's what Nolensville has become for me. It's more than a town. It's home.

Welcome To Our New Interim Superintendent

The Williamson County School Board named Dr. Leigh Webb as Interim Superintendent at its June 29 Special Called Board Meeting. She will replace Superintendent Jason Golden who announced last week that he has accepted a position with Franklin Special District.

Board Chair Josh Brown made the motion to nominate Webb, who has served as Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools since 2018.

“The people in this school system have a lot of trust in Dr. Webb,” said Brown. “This is a really important role, and it’s important that the transition is seamless. We really appreciate her willingness to step up and do this, and we know she’ll lead with integrity and focus.”

Webb began her career in Williamson County Schools in 2004 as an English teacher at Franklin High. She served as an assistant principal at Ravenwood High for eight years before moving to Centennial High School as principal. In 2017, Webb was named Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, a position she held for one year before being named Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools.

Dr. Leigh Webb

“Serving as a WCS teacher and school leader has deepened my understanding of the extraordinary work happening here,” said Webb. “The professionalism, passion and skill that drive student success are evident in the classrooms, schools and offices all across our district. Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and I am honored to step into the Interim Superintendent role to support our shared mission. We are recognized as leaders in education across the state and nation, and this good work continues.”

Webb will begin her role as Interim Superintendent on July 15.
