Looking Ahead to Summer

Spring is always a special time in Nolensville, and this past month has been filled with memorable moments — from the Historic Buttercup Festival to celebrations honoring mothers and graduates across our community. This year’s Buttercup Festival was a tremendous success, bringing a beautiful day of activities, shopping, and time spent with friends and neighbors. Now, we look forward to cheering on our graduates as we celebrate their accomplishments and the exciting journeys ahead.

At Nolensville Town Life Magazine, our mission remains simple: to highlight the people, businesses, and stories that make this town so unique. We love hearing from you, and your ideas continue to shape the stories we share.

As we look ahead to summer and all the activity it brings, we are especially grateful for the support of our advertisers and local partners. Their commitment allows us to connect our community and spotlight the businesses that help Nolensville thrive.

We encourage you to support these local merchants whenever you can — every visit and recommendation helps keep our town vibrant and strong.

Let’s continue to look for the good in one another and find ways to support our neighbors. Nolensville is truly a special place to call home, and I look forward to seeing you around town soon.

are God’s masterpiece, created… to do good things.” Ephesians 2:10

Where Dreams Take Flight

Jason and Tashara Pond’s move from Montana to Nolensville last summer was a leap of faith. It was not driven by a job offer or a perfectly mapped-out plan, but by a strong sense that God was leading their family into a new season.

In the middle of that transition, they began looking for the right dance studio for their 13-year-old daughter, Sydney, and found Elite Dance & Music. It checked every box, so much so that Sydney was enrolled before the first moving box was unpacked. Four days later, they learned the studio was set to close its doors forever.

“Sydney hadn’t even attended her first class yet, but we thought, ‘Maybe this is why we’re here. Maybe we can help keep this place from closing,’” Jason said. “By August 1, we had bought the studio and opened under new ownership.”

The Ponds say their goal is to honor the

studio’s more than 20-year legacy of elite dance instruction and strong Christian values under the late Mrs. Cheri, while continuing to build something meaningful for Nolensville families.

Elite Dance & Music provides professional, high-quality dance training in an uplifting environment where students feel seen, challenged, and celebrated. While ballet remains the foundation, Elite also offers tap, jazz, hip hop, acro, contemporary, lyrical, musical theater, competitive dance team, and specialty workshops.

Under the Ponds’ leadership, Elite now offers year-round classes and a structured curriculum progression plan, giving students a clear path for growth and helping parents better understand their dancer’s journey.

The next session begins June 8, with Dance Team auditions June 18 and July

30. Elite recently wrapped up its spring recital and is preparing for a new winter production in November — a contemporary version of the classical ballet The Toy Shoppe, written by Courtney McLean and Mauriana Jessup.

“Taking this on has been a massive leap of faith,” Jason said. “But seeing these students grow in confidence, discipline, friendships, and joy makes every bit of the hard work worth it.”

BARBERSHOP

As Hammer & Nails Grooming Shop for Guys approaches its one-year anniversary this June, the milestone marks more than just a successful first year in the Nolensville area, it celebrates the arrival of a unique space designed specifically for the modern man.

For owners Ketan and Neera Singh, the journey to opening their doors in June 2025 was rooted in a desire for something more personal. After years of working as IT consultants, the couple found themselves searching for a new path. “We wanted to have something that felt like ours,” they shared.

That search led them to the service industry, and ultimately to Nolensville, a community they quickly grew to love.

“It’s such a tight-knit town. We felt welcomed right away and wanted to give something back.”

Hammer & Nails offered the perfect fit. Known for its elevated approach to men’s grooming, the brand stood out with its exclusive “man-cave” atmosphere and

luxury services business model. Yet what truly resonated with the Singhs was the opportunity to create a space where men could relax, recharge, and feel like they had a space of their own—something that is often hard for men to find.

Inside, the experience is intentionally different from a traditional barbershop. Guests are welcomed by a friendly staff, greeted with soft lighting, comfortable seating, and a laid-back environment complete with TVs, music, and even a full-service bar.

The service menu goes far beyond simple haircuts, offering straight razor shaves and beard grooming, detoxifying facials, relaxing manicures and pedicures utilizing soothing essential oils and aromatherapy, and stress-relieving massages—all designed to turn a routine 10-minute cut into a full-hour retreat.

At its core, Hammer & Nails goes beyond mere services, it’s about creating a space where men of all ages and backgrounds can feel comfortable and encouraged to

pamper themselves. After a year, Hammer & Nails has become exactly what the Singhs envisioned.

In the spirit of giving back, Hammer & Nails offers discounts to first responders and veterans, as well as local young men trying to look their best for special moments like prom. If you’re a guy looking for a welcoming, personalized space to unwind, connect, and enjoy a luxury grooming experience, Hammer & Nails has a chair waiting for you.

Barbre ’s A/C, Heating & Electrical Family Service Close to Home

The day will come when Kevin Barbre trades his gauge set and wire strippers for a quiet, retired life. But anyone who knows him insists that day isn’t coming anytime soon. That’s because after 41 years as a master HVAC technician and electrician, he still shows up for every job like it’s Day One: curious, sharp, and ready to get his hands dirty. Plus, if he’s being completely honest, retirement doesn’t exactly fit his wiring.

“Work is all I know,” Kevin said with a laugh. He’s the proud owner of Barbre’s A/C, Heating & Electrical. “My son, Christian, keeps telling me I’m never going to retire. I will eventually, but I like working.”

For Nolensville residents and commercial clients, that’s music to their ears. Since 2005, Barbre’s A/C, Heating & Electrical has been their go-to for everything from keeping their properties cool in the summer and warm in the winter to ensuring the lights stay on and everything works as it should. If your AC is on the fritz or needs to be replaced, Kevin and his team can help. If your breakers keep tripping or outlets have gone dead, Barbre’s A/C, Heating & Electrical is the call to make.

From sales to service, maintenance, installation, and everything in between, Kevin has you covered.

Perhaps the best part, and this is what really matters to people, is that Barbre’s A/C, Heating & Electrical is and always has been a family-owned and operated company. At the heart of it is Kevin, of course, but Christian, now 30, has been working for his dad since he was a junior in high school. And trust us when we say he is every bit a chip off the old block. So, when you call to schedule an appointment, it’s Kevin who answers the phone every time. When someone shows up to your house or business, you can bet that Kevin or Christian will still be on-site.

Meanwhile, Kevin’s wife, Paula, and daughter, Jennifer, are always behind the scenes, keeping everything in order.

“Being family-owned matters to people,” Kevin said. “For instance, I am out working in Nashville today, but Christian is plenty busy with jobs back in Nolensville. I’ve still got a crew of guys who work for us on the new construction side and bigger commercial jobs, but either Christian or I will still be there every time. My motto has always been that I want to treat my clients the same way

I would want to be treated — and that is like family.”

His loyal customers agree.

“Mr. Barbre and his son are super kind and very efficient!” One client said on Facebook. “They really care about the service they provide and serving their community! They are up front and to the point in their services without any fluff or unnecessary add-ons. Even after a full day or more of servicing multiple customers, they still took the time to assist another customer, and I highly recommend them for your HVAC needs! We can’t thank you enough!!”

That uncompromising attention to detail and customer service has always been in Kevin’s blood. Before going into business for himself, he was working on oil rigs in the deep South for many years. When he and Paula had Jennifer, he traded that life in for 12 years working in the maintenance department for a local school district.

After that, he worked for a short stint as a commercial superintendent before finally stepping out on his own. Basically, Kevin has seen and worked on everything imaginable — making him the perfect guy to have on

your side in a pinch when your systems aren’t working as they should.

“Being in business for yourself means you always take work home with you, but there are also plenty of advantages to being in business for yourself,” Kevin said. “We love what we do, and we can’t imagine doing anything else.”

To learn more about Barbre’s A/C, Heating & Electrical, you can visit them on Facebook at facebook.com/BarbresAC/ or call 615.973.8188 to schedule a service appointment.

Nolensville Annual Address at Town Hall

Each year, this gathering offers a chance to reflect on our progress, celebrate our accomplishments, and look ahead to the future. I want to begin by thanking our residents, business owners, staff, and volunteers-your commitment is what makes Nolensville such a special place.

I'd also like to recognize our Board members and welcome Commissioner Streufert, who joined us last year. Thank you as well to Vice Mayor Salamida, Commissioner Carpenter, and Commissioner Gill for their continued leadership.

This is a meaningful time for our town. As our nation approaches its 250th anniversary,

THE MAYORAL ADDRESS

Nolensville is nearing 30 years since its re-incorporation in 1996. Our roots date back to 1797, and we continue to honor that history while planning for the future.

Over the past year, we've made strong progress. Our fire station on Haley Industrial Boulevard is ahead of schedule financially, thanks in part to strong sales tax revenue. What was a seven-year plan to absorb its debt is now projected at just four years. Our ladder truck has also strengthened emergency response.

We are continuing design plans for a future police station, while prioritizing infrastructure improvements. A major milestone is TDOT's

acceptance of the Nolensville Road expansion into its 10-year plan-a critical step for traffic, safety, and economic growth. While timelines and funding are still being finalized, this is significant progress.

This summer, a temporary traffic signal will be installed at Kidd Road to improve safety until a permanent solution can be completed alongside future bridge work.

We're also investing in quality of life. Construction will soon begin on the 20-acre Chrismon-Brown Park on Sunset Road, featuring courts, trails, and community spaces. This project, supported by a $1.3 million state grant, reflects strong community input

by Mayor Halie Gallik | photos courtesy of Tim Beard

and collaboration, including partnerships like Friends of Nolensville Parks.

Community spirit continues to shine through initiatives like the Brushstrokes Across Nolensville banner project and events such as the Buttercup Festival and Star-Spangled Celebration-made possible by dedicated volunteers.

Economic growth remains strong. The Village Green development has brought new businesses and increased revenue, while our Economic Development Advisory Committee continues supporting local businesses. However, traffic congestion remains a challenge and reinforces the need

for continued infrastructure improvements.

We also face important challenges. The town is appealing a legal decision regarding impact fees, which are essential to ensuring growth helps fund infrastructure. The outcome could significantly affect future planning and finances.

As we prepare our budget, we remain focused on investing in our people, infrastructure, and public safety. We are committed to competitive compensation, training, and support for our staff, while balancing the demands of major capital projects.

Looking ahead, while growth has slowed

from its peak, we continue to plan carefully and responsibly. Annexation decisions remain thoughtful and strategic, ensuring we can effectively serve our community while working in partnership with Williamson County.

This progress is only possible because of you-those who serve, volunteer, and care deeply about Nolensville's future.

Thank you for your continued support. It is an honor to serve as your mayor.

Former Fire Chief Presented with

Red Cross Storyteller Award

Several residents of Nolensville were delighted to attend the American Red Cross Lifesaver Luncheon, a celebratory event honoring the exceptional individuals and collaborations that fortify communities during challenging periods. We are particularly proud of our former Fire Chief, David Windrow, who was honored with the Storyteller Award. His captivating speech as a speaker at the event underscored his invaluable insights and unwavering commitment. Furthermore, his steadfast support for the American Red Cross is commendable.

An Interview With NHS Track Coach, Kyle Manderfield

How is this year’s team shaping up compared to last season? What stands out about this group in terms of chemistry, leadership, and overall potential?

We had a lot of all state athletes graduate last year. We also have a lot of new faces, especially on the boys side. They are full of potential and willing to try new events. It will take some time before our final product is on the track but there are a lot of possibilities.

Who are a few players fans should keep an eye on this season? Are there returning leaders or emerging young players who could make a big impact?

Brandon brooks is a nationally ranked triple jumper and a great leader on our team. He is always working to perfect his craft and improve the culture of Nolensville track and field. Max Massey is also having a great year in the 800/1600m. He sets a great example for work ethic and team community.

What are the biggest strengths of this year’s squad? What style of play or identity do you expect this team to have on the track?

Our strength is you can't get rid of us. We may not win every event on the track but we will be in the conversation. We have 130 athletes that are willing to throw, vault, jump, or run to find success. I'm proud of them for stepping out of their comfort zone.

What challenges will this team need to overcome to be successful? Are there areas where the team will need to grow as the season progresses?

Our youth and inexperience will be a challenge. There are a lot of athletes still getting familiar with how long a race actually is. They're facing this challenge head on though. I think you'll see a a huge difference in the strength of our team by the end of the season.

What are your expectations and goals for this season? How do you define success for this group both on and off the track? We are now part of section 4 combining Memphis schools and Williamson County schools. This will be by far the best section in the state. My goal is to qualify just as many athletes to the sectional and to the state meet as last year. That will show great improvement even with the same numbers.

What makes Nolensville Track special?

How does the support from the school and community impact your program and players?

Our kids love their community. They love each other and they love representing Nolensville. I'd say thats the case for all our sports here. We live and compete in a special place. I try to remind them of that as much as I can.

Raising the Bar: How Lion’s Heart is Empowering No lensville Teens to Lead, Serve, and Stand Out

In a world where teens are often defined by test scores and transcripts, Lion’s Heart is redefining what it means to stand out. This national nonprofit empowers middle and high school students to become active volunteers, compassionate leaders, and engaged members of their communities, all while building a strong foundation for future success.

Lion’s Heart is a service leadership organization for students in grades 6–12. Members join local groups or participate as individual members and commit to regular volunteer work. But this isn’t just about earning service hours, it’s about building confidence, character, leadership, and purpose through meaningful experiences.

For families in Nolensville and the surrounding area, Lion’s Heart offers a structured yet flexible way for teens to get involved. Members can support causes they care about, from food insecurity and environmental conservation to helping seniors or mentoring younger children. Whether volunteering at food pantries, organizing donation drives, or participating in community events, teens gain real-world experience beyond the classroom.

Since 2004, Lion’s Heart members have served more than 2.3 million volunteer hours nationwide.

Leadership development is another key part of the program. Members can serve in group leadership roles, participate in subcommittees, and apply for national leadership opportunities such as Teen Advisory Board, blog contributors, and Social Media Ambassadors. Meetings follow formal procedures like Robert’s Rules of Order, helping students strengthen communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills that benefit them academically and professionally.

For college-bound students, Lion’s Heart also provides a meaningful advantage. Colleges increasingly look for applicants who demonstrate initiative, consistency, and impact beyond academics. Through sustained volunteerism and leadership involvement, members build strong experiences that reflect commitment to service and personal growth. Lion’s Heart also provides official hour tracking, recognition awards, and verified service records for college applications.

Parents appreciate the organization’s focus on productive, purpose-driven involvement, while teens enjoy connecting with peers who are equally motivated to make a difference while having fun along the way.

As Nolensville continues to grow, Lion’s Heart invites local teens to get involved, give back, and discover how service can shape both their communities and their futures.

To learn more about joining Lion’s Heart or starting a group in Nolensville, visit LionsHeartService.org, call 800.894.8877, or email newmembers@lionsheartservice.org.

Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance is Tennessee’s largest and most comprehensive orthopedic provider, with a legacy of care dating back to 1926. What began as Nashville’s first orthopedic clinic— founded by Dr. George Carpenter, Sr. and known locally as “the carpenter shop”—has grown into a statewide organization serving communities across Middle, Southern and East Tennessee.

For a century, TOA has supported the health and mobility of an estimated 10 million patients, helping individuals and families live more active, fulfilling lives.
