Christmas Chriistmas time Ch time is is here! here ere! e! The South Insurance Agency is proud to be your local, independent insurance
partner right here in Nolensville. From homeowners, auto, boat, motorcycle, and life insurance to so much more, we are your one-stop shop for protection that fits your
life. We also specialize in commercial insurance to help keep your business covered from every angle.
As you’re shopping for loved ones—or enjoying something extra special you
received this Christmas—let us help ensure those new additions are fully pro-
tected. Many people are surprised to learn that jewelry has very limited coverage under a standard
homeowners policy. Even more surprising, in many cases that coverage stops at your front door. And if your vehicle has upgrades like a lift kit, new wheels, or an enhanced audio system, those customizations aren’t automatically covered either, potentially leaving you at risk of losing thousands in a claim.
No matter what you give or receive this Christmas, The South Insurance
Agency is here to help you safeguard what matters most. And above all, may we never forget that Jesus is the reason for the season.
Merry Christmas from all of us at The South! Nolensville, TN | 615.505.1007 | thesouthinsurance.com

On the Court with NHS Boys Basketball Head Coach, Drew Giudice
by Tim Beard | photography by Designed Identities
What are the biggest strengths you’ve identified in this year’s roster, and how do you plan to build around them? We have some talented, experienced seniors who have played a lot of Varsity basketball. Chris Johnson was All-Region last year as a Junior. He’s a strong presence inside as a big man. Ryland McKelvy transfers from Centennial is a talented scorer. BJ Hall’s defensive intensity and dribble penetration are known. Those three will shoulder heavy minutes. Which returning players have shown the most growth since last season, either on or off the court? Brody Cooper is another Senior who figures to start a lot of games. Brings a lot of winning basketball, effort plays as a glue guy and versatile player. He is a good low post scorer and loves to defend and rebound. He had a great off-season and has been an ultimate program contributor. Excited for his role on the floor and maturity off of it to make a positive impact. How would you describe the team’s chemistry so far, and what steps are you taking to
strengthen it? Team chemistry is growing as we go through some different experiences together. The older players are beginning to trust the Sophomores and Juniors more as they see them begin to have success in Varsity action. We spend a lot of time together and will travel to Gatlinburg for a tournament before Christmas. The boys always have a good time on out of town trips. Who are some under-the-radar players we should keep an eye on this year, and what do they bring to the team? We have a bunch of players who will be new to Varsity minutes. Isaiah Streufert is a Senior who brings athleticism and hustle to our full court press. Beckett Gray and Tucker Powers are Juniors who provide high basketball IQ and outside shooting. Jordan Terrell, Parker Bunt, and Luke Carroll are ballhandlers, playmakers who bring great vision and skill to the offensive end. What are the main offensive and defensive philosophies you’re emphasizing with this group? Offensively we will mix up our driving motion with some ballscreen patterns. Defensively we will almost always be in a full-court setting, both man and zone depending on the opponent. What challenges do you anticipate facing in your district this season, and how is the team preparing for them?
Our District & Region is very good high school basketball. Everyone is talented, well coached, prepared, etc. It is a great environment for high school sports and demands our best in practice
10 | NOLENSVILLE TOWN LIFE | DEC 19 - JAN 16, 2026 | ISSUE 12
every day. If this team matures to love practice and preparing as much as the games, we will be in the mix to compete for both the District and Region title. How are the younger players adapting to varsity-level competition, and what role do you expect them to play? We have a cluster of Sophomores and
Juniors mentioned above who bring a lot of offensive skill and ability to our team.
We will need them to mature and continue to get better to be the best team we can be. So far each has had positive moments - but a very long way to go in terms of understanding how important practice is every day to be our best in late February and through March.
What goals—both performance-based and culture-based—have you set for the team this season? We can accomplish any goals on the court in terms of winning X number of games or making the State Tournament if we buy-in to becoming a really good practice team. That is the most important thing for this group to be successful, is appreciating how valuable the preparation before the contest is. In terms of culture, we want to be a team Nolensville is proud of and enjoys watching. If a dad brings his son to the game, we want them to leave thinking we played hard, smart, and together.

BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT
Falcon Financial: Where Financial Planning Is More Than Just Business, It’s Personal
W
hen Falcon Financial first opened its Nolensville office in April 2025, perhaps no one anticipated how quickly they would make a name for themselves, but that is exactly what happened in August when the firm’s president, Clay Blanton, was recognized as one of the Best-in-State Top Financial Security Professionals in Tennessee by Forbes magazine. With 25 years of financial planning experience and a sterling reputation among his clientele, no one should be surprised by the accolade Clay received. Given the professionalism and integrity in which he conducts his business, no one deserves the honor more than Clay. A graduate of CSU Fresno with a degree in Accounting and Finance, Clay has forged a career out of helping individuals and business owners build financial security. Never one to rest on his laurels, he constantly strives to better himself, educating himself the way he educates his clients. Over the years, Clay has earned the industry’s most respected credentials, including accreditations as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP®), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®), and a Wealth Management Certified Professional (WMCP®).

Before his move to Tennessee, Clay served in multiple leadership roles with National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) in California, the Society of Financial Service Professionals, and the Fresno Estate Planning Council. At Falcon Financial, Clay acts as “personal CFO,” guiding clients through investment management, tax planning, retirement strategies, and insurance needs. “We see ourselves as head coaches,” Clay explains. “Every client deserves a game plan built just for them.” When Clay and his family took the leap of faith and moved from California to Tennessee in 2021, Nolensville’s small-town charm and community pride endeared Clay and his wife, Katie, who live in Franklin with their five children—Ivy, Lilly, Clayton III, Greyson, and Brennon. With four of their kids now attending Ravenwood High School, Clay and Katie have become diehard Raptor fans, taking great pride in attending and supporting every game their children play in and every activity they pursue. What drives the Blanton family is their faith, and they aspire to live according to the Platinum rule: Do unto others as they would have you do unto them. This belief drives not only Clay’s personal faith but also Falcon Financial’s mission as they continue to make the firm a trusted resource for families across Nolensville and beyond.

Tech Tips for 2026: 5 AI Trends That Will Blow Your Mind AI is changing faster than most people realize. Here are five quick trends that will shape the way we work and live in 2026. 1. AI Agents Are Becoming Digital Employees
Forget simple chatbots—AI agents can now carry out tasks, make decisions, and run parts of your business automatically. They schedule appointments, follow up on leads, draft content, and handle support… without you lifting a finger.
2. AI Search Is Overtaking Google
More people are using ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini to find recommendations instead of Googling. To stay visible in 2026, your website must be optimized for AI search, not just SEO. (To get your business ready, visit BoroBusinessLab.com.)
3. AI Content Will Become So Realistic That We’ll Stop Questioning It
As AI-generated video, audio, and images reach near-perfect realism, the conversation will shift from “Is this real?” to “How can I use this to work faster?” In 2026, businesses will embrace AI content as a normal productivity tool— whether for demos, training, marketing, or customer service. Authenticity won’t be about whether a human made it, but whether it’s useful, accurate, and on-brand.
4. Prompting Is Becoming Effortless
“Prompt engineering” is fading away. In 2026, you don’t need perfect instructions—just talk to AI like a normal conversation. Not sure what to say? Ask the AI to build the perfect prompt for you, or even interview you until it fully understands what you want. The new rule: talk like a human, not a programmer.
5. Wearable AI Will Make Your Phone Feel Outdated
AI-powered earbuds, rings, and glasses are about to go mainstream. They’ll listen, summarize, remind, record, guide, and coach you in real time—hands-free. Imagine walking into a meeting and your glasses quietly showing you everyone’s name and past conversations. That’s coming faster than people think.

A Safe Option for Mothers in Crisis:
TriStar Nolensville ER’s Safe Haven Baby Box by TriStar ER | photos courtesy of TriStar ER
O
ne of the most unique features of TriStar Nolensville ER is its Safe Haven Baby Box, the only option of its kind in the area. This secure, anonymous resource allows mothers in crisis to safely surrender their newborn if they are unable to provide care. When a baby is placed inside the box, the exterior door locks automatically, triggering an internal alarm that alerts medical staff. Through a secure interior access point, our nurses can promptly retrieve the infant and begin providing immediate care. All TriStar Nolensville ER staff are trained under the Safe Haven Law, ensuring every surrendered baby receives the protection and medical attention they deserve. Every year, countless infants are abandoned across the United States. Regardless of the circumstances, communities need safe, anonymous alternatives for child surrender. The Safe Haven Baby Box is more than a feature; it is a vital resource that offers hope to mothers and a safe beginning for their babies. Until now, the nearest Safe Haven Baby Box was located 30 minutes away in Murfreesboro. TriStar Nolensville ER’s installation brings this life-saving option closer to home, offering a critical resource for families in our community. As a new neighbor, TriStar Nolensville ER is committed to meeting our community’s needs. Whether you’re facing a medical emergency or a personal crisis, we are here to help today, tomorrow and always.

“This announcement is both happy and sad as Carol has made such a difference in this
community for almost three decades,” said Superintendent Jason Golden. “She has given more than 28 years to WCS and is known, trusted and beloved by so many students,
families, staff and alumni. I can’t thank her enough for her dedication and tireless work for all of us.”
“I love this school district and the people in it,” said Birdsong. “But I want to spend more
time with my three sons who live in various parts of the country. That’s difficult to do when
you are on call 24-7, 365. With that said, I’ll still be around. I’ve told Cory that I expect to be invited to all the fun communications events, but not the 4 a.m. snow-day school closing discussions.”
Mason has been with the Communications Department for the past 18 years and currently oversees the district’s InFocus email newsletter, video production and social media.

ON THE COURT
with NHS Girls Basketball Head Coach
Chris Ladd by Tim Beard | photography by Designed Identities
What are the biggest strengths you’ve identified in this year’s roster, and how do you plan to build around them?
Our biggest strength this year is our depth and leadership. We have 5 seniors this year (Reese Mall, Brennan Rigsby, Sara Brakefield, Ella Claire Tharpe, and Kylee Mendoza) that have played in the program for 3 years. They bring experience and mentorship to our younger players that is invaluable. We also have 3 returning younger players (Nyla Johnson, Josie Ladd, and Addie Harris) that played significant minutes last year. Nyla has already had offers and interest from several colleges and leads our team in several statistical categories. Which returning players have shown the most growth since last season, either on or off the court?
All of our returning players have shown growth this year but if I had to pick one that seems to have grown the most, I would pick Brennan Rigsby. She plays the PG position and has to hear a lot from her coach about leading the team on the court. She has embraced the position and gives us a lot of energy and leadership and recently signed to play next year at Maryville College. How would you describe the team’s chemistry so far, and what steps are you taking to strengthen it?
Team chemistry in my opinion is one of the most important ingredients for team success. We currently seem to have a lot of good positive chemistry. I am lucky to coach some great kids. Our players seem to genuinely care for each other as people as well as
teammates. We are always on the look out for things to do together as a team to help foster that chemistry. Who are some under-the-radar players we should keep an eye on this year, and what do they bring to the team?
Our “under-the-radar” player this year is junior Addie Harris. She has been a solid player the past 2 years but has continued to work on her skill set and I think she is primed to show up for us in some big moments this year. What are the main offensive and defensive philosophies you’re emphasizing with this group?
Our offensive philosophy is to play with pace and attack the paint. Ideally, we want the ball to touch the paint first before we take an outside shot or we get a good early shot by pushing the ball up the floor before the defense sets up. Defensively we want to make the other team take tough shots or make mistakes by providing pressure either in the full court or half court.

What challenges do you anticipate facing in your district this season, and how is the team preparing for them?
Our district will be strong this year. Franklin has a player that has signed with Missouri and Brentwood returns several players from a very good team last year. Ravenwood is an up-andcoming team that is very young and will get better as the year goes progresses. We hope to compete for the top spot but we know it will not be easy. How are the younger players adapting to varsity-level competition, and what role do you expect them to play? I am very encouraged by our JV and Freshmen teams. We have several that have the chance to dress and play in some varsity games this season. Brooklyn Pring, Scarlett Spain, and Taylin Mosqueda are three that come to mind.
What goals—both performance-based and culture-based—have you set for the team this season?
Our goal each game is to play to our standard, no matter who our opponent might be. Long term we hope to compete for a Region Title and make the state tournament. We feel like we have enough talent to get there but it will just be a matter of playing our best when the time comes.

SAFETY FIRST
E-BIKES What Parents Should Know
Top 5 Safety Tips for Parents and Children • Helmet on, every ride. • Check brakes, tires, and battery before leaving. • Use lights and reflectors, especially at night. • No extra passengers. (Unless bike is designed for it.) • Ride predictably. Stay visible and follow traffic rules. • Parent tip: Practice together in a safe place (like a parking lot) before letting your child ride alone.
Supervisions Matters
• Children may underestimate speed and distance. • At 25 mph, a collision between an e-bike and a pedestrian or vehicle can cause severe injury or death.
What You Can Do
• Know your state’s e-bike laws. • Set family riding rules. • Require helmets. • Teach traffic safety early.
What is Considered an E-Bike?
An electric bicycle (e-bike) features functional pedals and a small electric motor. Speeds vary: Reaching 20 - 28 mph, depending on class of e-bike. Resembles a traditional bicycle but can reach significantly higher speeds.
E-Bike Class
Class 1: The electric motor provides assistance solely while pedaling and is limited to a maximum speed of 20 mph. Class 2: The electric motor offers assistance whether you are pedaling or not, also capped at 20 mph. Class 3: The electric motor assists only while pedaling and can reach speeds of up to 28 mph. * Modification of speed capabilities on an e-bike is a violation of TCA 55-8-304 (Class 3 misdemeanor).
Why This Matters for Children
Higher speeds increase the risk of crashes and injuries. E-bikes are typically heavier than a conventional bicycle, making it harder to control, slower to stop and more likely to cause severe injury if it tips or crashes.
What Isn’t Considered an E-Bike?
A motor assisted bike that exceeds 28 mph. Does not have functional pedals. Equipped with a motor exceeding 750 watts. Equipped with a gas motor. * Not allowed on streets, bike lanes, or sidewalks
Who Can Ride an E-Bike? According TCA 55-8-307
It is a delinquent act for a person under 14 years of age to operate a class 3 electric bicycle upon any street or highway; provided, that the person may ride as a passenger on a class 3 electric bicycle that is designed to accommodate passengers. Punishable by a fine of no more than $50.
Where Can Children Ride?
Class 1 and 2: Classes 1 and 2 e-bikes are permitted on streets where bicycles are allowed as well as any path or trail designated for cyclists. Classes 1 and 2 are not allowed on sidewalks. Class 3: Class 3 e-bikes are prohibited on bike paths or sidewalks. Class 3 e-bikes can only be on the street if they are equipped with pedals and a speedometer that displays showing miles per hour. Note: When riding on the street, an e-bike must have pedals and a motor that disengages when the brakes are applied or when the throttle is released.
Helmet Laws
Required for all ages operating a Class 3 e-bike. Required for a person under 16 years of age to wear a helmet on any street or sidewalk. Children weighing less than 40 lbs. must wear a helmet and be safely seated and secured in a child seat or trailer.
Violation of the above restrictions is a Class C misdemeanor
