Dear viewers, We would like, even during this extraordinary situation, for our fantastic audience to still be able to encounter the world's most outstanding and thrilling artists each evening – in the safety of their own homes. We believe that there are no limits to the "Müpa Budapest experience", which is why we decided to unlock our media library for everyone over the weeks to come and – each night at the familiar times: 7 pm, 7.30 pm or 8 pm, depending on genre – open Müpa Budapest's virtual concert hall by providing access to an unforgettable performance from past years, which we'll transmit on our website, our Facebook page and our YouTube channel. What is more, as a member of the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO) and in the spirit of international solidarity, we will also be streaming concerts on our Facebook page from different prestigious concert halls around Europe, from Lisbon and Hamburg to London – trusting that this will make evenings at home more pleasant. Ádám Fischer, who is fully conversant in Wagner’s music and highly regarded as a conductor of his works having appeared as a guest on several occasions in Bayreuth, brings a cast of world-renowned singers for this production at the Müpa. The 10th festival presented the audience with another new opera, a masterpiece that has enjoyed huge success since its première in 1843. It tells the story of the Dutchman who has roamed the seas since time immemorial, who can only escape his eternal curse if a woman swears to love him till death. This is the electric field created in each of his works, attracting those who are receptive to it like a magnet. Tension – clashing with principles, as high-level art tends to do – was already present in the early "German Romantic operas”, including Tannhäuser. Accompanied by live piano music, this first Recirquel creation has enchanted audiences across the world and toured in France two times, attracting outstanding critical reviews.
