JVIXJ LAJVLBDA Presents The First Annual BEATJTILLION
On Saturday, April 29, 1995, Mu Lambda will present to the Washington Metropolitan Area ten young men who make up the Mu Lambda Beautillion Class of 1995. This fi rst annual Beautillion Gala Dinner Dance will be held at the Sheraton Washington Hotel located at Woodley Road and Connecticut Avenue, N.W., commencing at 6:00 PM.
Beautillion Chairperson, Brother Rudolph Harris states that "Mu Lambda's First Beautillion Class is multifaceted, talented and scholarly. The young men represent the finest achievers in their senior class. The ten participants (Beaux) have demonstrated excellence in leadership and community service. All the Beaux are active in school activities and three of them are class presidents. These young men hail from the following schools in the Washington area: Archbishop Carroll, Benjamin Banneker, Bishop McNamara, Field School, Good Counsel and Joel Spingarn High School."
The Beautillion Orientation Program, under the coordination of Brother Rylan Harris and Paul Hoggard, began officially in January with aget acquainted gathering at the University of the District of Columbia. On January 28, 1995, Brother Robert Davis, veterinarian at the National Zoo, served as host and tour guide for awonderful excursion to the Zoo Hospital and other facilities, for the Beaux and Alpha Brothers. On February 5, 1995, aprogram entitled, "Beaux Meet The Mentors" was held at the National Museum of American Art. Brother James Speight led adiscussion about developing a mentoring program. The Beaux and Mentors examined and admired the African American Art museum collection entitled "Free Within Ourselves." On February 18, 1995, the Beaux, their family members and brothers experienced amoving and inspirational presentation by Brother Grady Poulard. Brother Poulard is an outstanding motivational workshop leader, trainer and dynamic orator. Brother Poulard is the former pastor of the Peoples Congregational Church in the District of Columbia. The spirituality of the workshop will be long remembered by those who attended.
The Beautillion Committee needs the help of the Washington Area Community to reach its goals successful y. The Committee needs you to purchase at least two tickets and/or sell atable. The tickets are $60 per person. Brother President Vincent Orange is urging the Washington Metropolitan Area to purchase advertisements for the First Annual Beautillion Souvenir Program. The ads range from $30 to $300. The inside cover is $300, gold page $225, full page $125, 1/2 page $75, 1/4 page $50 and 1/8 page (idea size for business cards) $30. Mu Lambda is very grateful for its "heritage of leadership", chapter officers, 110 current financial brothers and the Alpha wives. Brother President Vincent Orange notes that J. Leon Langhorne, chapter historian emeritus, compiled information which indicates that the Mu Lambda roster has included the names of such Alpha luminaries as jewel-founders Henry Arthur Callis, Robert Harold Ogle, and Nathaniel Allison Murray, and national presidents Charles H. Wesley, Howard Long, Rayford Logan, Belford Lawson and long-time general secretary, J.H.B. Evans. Some of the chapter members became living legends in their fields; for example, Charles Houston, in civil rights legislation; William Leo Hansberry in African History; E. Franklin Frazier, in Sociology; and Todd Duncan in concert and operatic singing. ■

Apermanent Board of Governors for the Mu Lambda Foundation must be elected b)' Mu Lambda Chapter. Brother President Vincent Orange has announced that nominations for the permanent Board of Governors shall take place at the April 6, 1995, chapter meeting. Pursuant to the bylaws of the Mu Lambda Foundation, such election of apermanent Board of Governors shall be conducted by Mu Lambda Chapter within six months of the date of incorporation of the Foundation and shall be for seven (7) seats on the permanent Board of Governors. One (1) year after the election of the first seven (7) members of the permanent Board of Governors, Mu Lambda Chapter, shall elect four (4) additional members
●of the permanent Board of Governors. One(l) year after the election of the four (4) additional members of the permanent Board of Governors, Mu Lambda Chapter, shall elect the final four members of the Board of Governors. The Governors shall be elected for athree vear term.
