The Presideiut

Greetings

June marks the end of the !993-94 Fraternal Year. I want to express my thanks to the friends and members of Mu Lambda Chapter and the members of the Alpha Wives of Washington, DC, Inc. Our year has been splendid and we have definitely been about the business of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Collectively, we owe many thanks to Mrs. Cecelia Calhoun, wife of Bro. Noah Calhoun, who is the outgoing President of the Alpha Wives of Washington DC./

During the Summer, we will have many opportunities for fellowship and to prepare for the next fraternal year 1994On June 23-25, Mu Lambda will coordinate the Eastern Region Leadership Development Institute at Howard University. July 16th will mark the Second Annual Metro Alpha Picnic at Fort McNair. In August (4-9) the 88th Anniversary Convention 95.

will convene in Chicago Illinois. On September 10, 1994 we will conduct our sec¬ ond chapter-wide Retreat at Collingwood-on-the-Potomac.

Brothers, this Administration has strived to create and implement programs that challenge us to manly deeds, scholarship and love for all mankind. We are counting on you during the next year to assist us in preparing ayearly program that you would enjoy and be proud. It is in that spirit that we come together each month and each activity to renew those college ties that bind.

Iwant to thank you for your confidence in reelecting me for athird year. The Executive Board and Iwill work to solid¬ ify our gains in membership and innovative programming, as well as begin the prepara¬ tion of bringing new and fresh leadership to Mu Lambda. Next year will be critical as we look to the future of Mu Lambda and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

On apersonal note, the expe¬ rience of being the President of Mu Lambda has been worthwhile and Ilook forward to fi nishing-up the task you asked me to do when fi rst

elected two years ago. Iwill be concentrating on reinvigo¬ rating the HA Callis Fund and its scholarship develop¬ ment under anew Fund

President; in addition, Iwill assist in the development of the Mu Lambda (Community Service) Foundation where I believe the future of this Chapter sgreat work will con¬ centrate.

Finally, as many of you know, Iannounced my intention to run for Eastern Region VicePresident in 1995. Ithank Mu Lambda for your support and contributions, but. more important for the opportunity to serve this great chapter and the Fraternity. We have built asolid record of good leadership that can be emu¬ lated throughout this country. This leadership has accom¬ plished the dif fi cult task of blending the seasoned with new and thereby creating a genuine Alumni chapter that believes in brotherhood. It is those themes you have heard me articulate over the past two years that will be our foundation for asuccessful campaign.

Have agreat summer and I look forward to seeing you at the June 2meeting on the campus of Howard University.
