Message from the President
Brother Edwin F. Norwood, 111
"Alpha Turns 100 Years Old in 2006”
in 2006, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity will begin its 100 year of existence. As apart of the celebration, a Centennial Convention is being planned for Washington D.C. Brother Douglas Sands and Brother Rudolph Harris are the chair and co-chair of the chapter’s Centennial Committee. In addition to working with the local Centennial Convention chairs, Brother Vincent Orange and Brother Michael Rogers, there are alot of things the chapter can do in preparation for 2006. We need to develop aplan to get every brother in Washington D.C. active in the fraternity; we should find away to utilize the chapter house during the 2006 convention; and we should find away to ensure our brothers who can not attend chapter meetings because of adisability or health reasons can participate in the chapter and the Centennial celebration. These brothers are apart of the history of this fraternity and it is important for us to rethink how we reach out to these brothers. In order for Mu Lambda to prepare for the 2006, it will take every brother’s participation. Mu Lambda’s Centennial Committee has begun to meet and will provide updates on its planning during future Mu Lambda chapter meetings.
Iwould like to welcome our 9newest brothers (Brothers Andre Beard, William Burns, Darrell Chase, Jimmy Floyd, Joseph Jones, Ephraim Mosley, Tremell Munford, William Ridley, and Gerald Williams) into the fraternity. These brothers will bring new ideas and energy into the chapter and the fraternity. They are already active on several different committees in the chapter.
