Washington D.C. MU LAMBDA Chapter, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated

AMessage From The President

We are the guardians of agreat human function ... [the quest for brotherhood]. Perhaps the greatest function among the endeavors of man. We have achieved much and we have erred often. But we are willing in all humility to make way for our heirs. We are only men and we are only seekers. But yve seek for truth with the best there is in our hearts. We seek yvith what there is of the sublime granted to the race of men. It is a great quest.

Greetings Brothers: The great quest for brotherhood that we all seek through Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity has reached another milestone in the initiation of “Synergism-9”—a group of dynamic and energetic neophytes who promise to hold the light of Alpha high. On behalf of the Executive Board and the chapter, we welcome these new brothers and look forward to their smooth transition into Mu Lambda chapIask our veteran Mu Lambders to spend time with these neophytes and incorporate them into our committees and chapter projects.

comments and lessons learned.

In addition to the success¬ ful completion of our member¬ ship intake program, Itrust that all our brothers have survived Blizzard ‘93! Iunderstand that the Community Service Committee completed aplanned community service project on the Saturday during the brunt of the blizzard. Iam heartened that we have produced a fi rst class Community Service committee that is dedicated and creative. Many thanks and high regard to Bro. Alan Wiley and his commit-

improved chapter. In April, we will finish our planning for the HA Callis Spring Dance, that promises to be asuccess; finish our reclamation process for this administration; select delegates to the Eastern Region Convention; elect members to the HA Callis Fund Board of Directors; and, select members for the chapter nomination com¬ mittee.

Membership Intake Bro. John johnson and those who assisted him, accomplished atremendous task in the orientation period of this 1993 Intake Class. The cur¬ riculum and presenters, which was taken from chapter 7of the history book, not only inspired the Intake Class but caused vet¬ eran Alphas to rededicate them¬ selves to Alpha and Mu Lambda. Iwas deeply touched by the

Next year, we will work with this committee to produce even greater projects and acom¬ munity service commitment of Mu Lambda brothers. Let it not be said that our chapter rested on its laurels and relied on our past reputation to project apositive public and fraternal image. Afterall, what are Alphas here for?

Finally Brothers, let us make the HA Callis Fund Annual Dinner &Dance our finest hour. Bros. Tillis, Laney, Hunigan, and the rest of the Committee are planning afan¬ tastic event at the Cotillion Ballroom at the SheratonWashington Hotel. We have had tremendous response; and, for those who have not fi nalized their plans, please contact the dance committee immediately. We guarantee you agood time for agood cause.

Thank you for your sup¬ port and Ilook forward to seeing you on Thursday, April 1on the campus of Howard University. ter. tee.

As we begin the Spring season, let us think about our quest for abetter fraternity and Founders (Omega Chapter) , ,, Henry A.Callls Charles H. Chapman Eugene K.
