The National Headquarters Building search is behind us. The "Intake Process" is being te.sied and will be evaluated at some fu¬ ture date. So. nov. where do we focus our attention and energies!’ The answer is obvious. We turn inward. We take the name of .Al¬ pha Phi Alpha to the Nation, to so¬ ciety. and to our communities, in service to mankind. We can now focus on Project Alpha! We can now focus on the Educational Foundation and the Alpha .Acade¬ mies. We have agreat legacv and we have agreat opportunity.
Brothers, please join me in letting Washington, D. C. know that we are here, and willing and ready to lake or retake our rightful leadership roles. We have^^boih the expertise and the experience to tackle and master the good, the bad, and the ugly.
We are looking forward to an outstanding series of conventions this year. See you at the April meeting! See you in Wilmington. Delaware! See you in Baltimore! .See you IN ACTION!

My brothers in Alpha, Iam pleased. 8-^th Anniversary Convention to inform you that the mandate of the to relocate the National Headquarters has been met.
The 84th Anniversary Convention charged the Board of Directors (BOD) the General President, to appoint acommittee from among the brotherhood to and find two sites within the continental U.S.A. that could serve as our National Headquarters. Pimlico races
National Headquarters Fund Drive
At the gates are all the horses waiting for the cue to fly away. What agripping absolutely ripping moment at the Ascot opening day'
Once at Pimlico, the Broth¬ ers and their guests proceeded to a private club room with numerous video monitors and its own bank of betting booths. In the club room, novices and pros alike re¬ ceived an informative briefing from aspokeswoman on the facili¬ ties at Pimlico. Asumptuous buf¬ fet was enjoyed by all. Then eve¬ ryone dug in. preparing for the 12 races, two of which were "simul¬ casts" from other tracks.
The sixth race of the day was dedicated to the Mu Lambda Chapter: the chapter was so desig¬ nated in the printed programs and over the PA system. Some Broth¬ ers joined the wining horse, jockey, and owners in the winner's circle for the presentation of the trophy. Aphotograph to remem¬ ber this occasion will be sent to the chapter by track officials later. In addition, several Brothers and guests appeared to have picked the winning horse in this race.
What afrenzied moment that was! Didn't they maintain an exhausting pace?
Twas athrilling, absolutely chilling, running of the Ascot opening race. Pulses rushing, faces flushing. Heartbeats speed up. Ihave never been so keyed up. Any second now. they'll begin to run.
Joviality w-as the word for the day as guests observed each other's handicapping systems: some were based on tip "sheets, analysis of jocke\ records, horse statistics, etc., while others based their selections on pure instinct, guessing, and other personal con¬ siderations. Brother Clyde Blasingale and Brother Rodman Turner trekked down to the paddock to "look the horses in the mouth": this method proved to be some¬ what less accurate in predicting winners than those based hunches of Mrs. Alisha Blasingale, w'ho refused to divulge how much was actually in the bundle she won.
Give your $100 assessment to Brother Julius H. Brice (1429 Webster St. N.E., Wash¬ ington, D.C. 20019) or send your check to Alpha Phi Alpha National Headquarters Drive P.O. Box 53417 Chicago, Illinois 60653-9998. Be sure to include your Social Security number, and our chapter key number (111). on
Hark, abell is ringing. They are springing forward.
Look, it has begun.

Thanks Mu Lambda
Dear Dr. Frederick J. Laney and the Henry.Arthur Callis Scholarship Commit¬ tee;
Iam writing to thank the scholarship committee for giving me the gift of acol¬ lege education, which came in the form of aSICKK) scholarship award. This award has not only allowed me to attend the col¬ lege of my choice, Davidson College in North Carolina, but it also allowed the college to reevaluate my work study and loan requirements. Now, because of the
generosity of the MU LAMBDA CH.APTER OF THE ALPHA FRATERNITY’. INC., my work study requirements have decreased by some S250 and my loans to ■ the banks were cut in half! Because of the kindness your organization has 'shown to me, my financial burdens have been lessened immensely. If Ihad not re¬ ceived your scholarship award, Iwould not have been able to attend this prestig¬ ious southern liberal ans school. David¬ son ranks 15th in the nation and second only to Princeton in student workload. Yes Davidson is ahard school, but the education Iam receiving will carry me far in the future.
1am doing well in school and w'orking hard at my Biology/Pre Veierinar>’ Sci¬ ence major. Again, thanks to the Men of Mu Lambda. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., who gave me this opportunity of a lifetime. Ionly wish Icould somehow pay you back for the goodwill and gene¬ rosity you have shown me.
Sincerely,
