The Executive Message: Passing the Torch

In Washington, on Monday, May 17, 1954, history was made when Chief Justice Earl Warren read the Supreme Court’s decision in the case of Oliver Brown et al. v. Board of Education of Topeka, “that in the field of public education the doctrine of ‘separate but equal’ has no place. Separate educational As we know, this case facilities are inherently unequal, unlocked the legal barrier to desegregation, however, the main goal of the decision: the integration of the public schools has been thwarted by those who want nothing less than to roll back the historic civil rights advances of Blacks.

Mu Lambda's Beautillion Program fi lls an important niche. A major focus on improving the lives of young men is through education. The culmination of the 2004 Rites of Passage was the Mu Lambda Foundation Beautillion &Gaia which honored eight seniors. The Beaux were presented by Dr. Janette Hoston Harris, our MC who described their biography, activities, career goals, parents and escorts. Presentation of the Henry Arthur Callis Scholarships was made by Brother William Tony’ Hawkins.

The evening's highlight was the presentation of the Beaux Medallion and Oath and the announcement of Mr. Beau for 2004, Fred Lee Johnson, 111.

Beautillion Committee Chair recognized and extended appreciation to the Beautillion Committee, the Choreographer, Brother Adrian Vincent James, Brothers of Mu Lambda, Iextended

Brother Marc Fitzgerald Friends, Parents and Workshop Presenters, salutations to the entire team for their yeoman efforts which was evident in the organization and planning for the 2004 Beautillion. The challenge for Mu Lambda Chapter is to ask: What specific ways can we strive with ourlOth Annual Beatillion in 2005 to implement the success that (con’t.)
