Mu Lambda Brothers Are Needed to Help Build the Dream
Brother Edwin F. Norwood, III
EXECUTIVE
MESSAGE (from Page 1)
draw both socially and financially. As achapter on the move, we took part in the 40th anniversary celebration on the mall of the 1963 March on Washington and were participants in the March of Dimes 2004 Washington, D.C. Walk America. The spirit of brotherhood was evident in February on Alpha Sunday when Brothers worshiped together with Rev. Douglas Sands at the SImpson-Hamline United Methodist Church and later participated in the Bone Marrow Drive. Lives of great men remind us of Brothers like Douglas Sands. For the past two years, he has provided food and ameeting place for Mu Lambda monthly meeting. We offer our profound thanks.
In terms of community service, the Education Committee and Beautlllion Committee have done yeoman jobs with their programs Project Aipha was held at the GarnetPatterson Middle School. The Beautillion Program is a multifaceted endeavor that recognizes, mentors and honors the achievement of high school African American male students. The Beautillion Gala is sponsored by the Mu Lambda Foundation, of which. Brother Julius Brice is president. The chapter through the Henry Arthur Callis Scholarship Fund continues to award high school scholarships. Our finances are kept in order by the treasurer, Brother Curtis Hunigan
In terms of administration and management of the chapter, we attempted to structure the chapter under a viabie committee system; however, some of the committee did not have asuf fi cient number of Brothers to be truly effective. Rashid Darden revised the chapter website and provided communication through The Torch and encouraged Brothers to subscribe to the chapter’s eiectronic mail list. Kudos is extended to the Constitution and Program Committees. During the past fraternai year we developed adraft strategic plan. The plan is aworking document and it is within this context that Iam requesting afraternal year-end report from committees, corporations, etc. to be submitted to me on or by June 3, 2004.
