“Ten
Years of Holding ALPHA High”
This fraternity year, Mu Lambda Chapter has been faced with many challenges and opportunities. One of our most important programs was the 10th Annual Hen Arthur Callis Beautillion. Every Alpha man holds high the aims of the fraternity, Manly Deeds, Scholarship and Love for All Mankind. On April 23
DC community. rd, brothers saw the integration of our Rites of Passage program for 10 young men and our fraternity’s aims. One of the goals of the Beautillion is to teach young men the meaning of “manly deeds”. For over six months, workshops were focused on teaching life lessons to these young men that would carry them into the next phases of their lives. Another key goal of the Beautillion is to provide scholarships. Through the Beautillion’s efforts, the Henry Arthur Callis Fund, and Brother Xavier Hixon (and his family), we will provide over $20,000 in scholarships this year. The implementation of the Beautillion has been a demonstration of our love for all mankind. During the past ten years, Mu Lambda brothers’ interaction with over 100 young men led to scholarships, mentoring relationships (for long after the Beautillion is complete) and the growth of the beaux and the brothers. This program has made a visible and direct impact on young men in the Washington D.C. metro area. It is my hope that the 10th Annual Henry Arthur Callis Beautillion is just the beginning. Mu Lambda must build on the momentum of the past 10 years and continue to make the Beautillion a recogniza entity within the school systems and the entire Washington

EXECUTIVE MESSAGE
(from Page 1)
Some highlights for the night include Brother Vic Carter, the master of ceremony at our first Beautillion, serving as our master of ceremony at our 10th Beautillion. The accomplishments of ten high school seniors were presented to a crowd of over 400 attendees. The Henry Arthur Callis Fund provided two Washington DC students with scholarships. The program ended with the young men completing two traditional dances with their mothers and dates. As one of the former beaux told me during the event, “these young men will remember this night for the rest of their lives”.
For a decade, the Mu Lambda Foundation has sponsored this event. The partnership between the Mu Lambda Chapter and the Mu Lambda Foundation has led to thousands of d in scholarships to Washington DC high schoo seniors. In addition to the support of the Mu Lambda Foundation, the success of this effort is due to a dedicated committee. The culminating gala just highlighted the success of the overall program. There are many brothers who had an integral role in this success. The attendance and reception of the audience were refreshing and speak volumes about the committee and the worthiness of the project . . . Kudos to Brother Kwame Ulmer and the entire committee for their hard work and dedication to the Beautillion.
