88 HANA STUDIO tirelessly carry on the natural dye and hand weaving Heritage by bringing up its real values to the society and to create the community for Natural dye Artisan , hand weaving and for those who love, support and appreciate the Natural blue. We believe this will best preserve and revive the heritage we dearly cherish not only in Thailand but around the world.
We are proud of every Natural dye products created. Each of which takes an average of 6 months to delicately finish the craft one by one. We made them from the passion in Hand Weaving ,Natural dye Heritage and our more than 10 years of expertise in textile.
We have our own in-house production so we could emphasize on every detail from cutting and sewing the products with great precision to finishing the products with drying and ironing for the final quality check. We designed the products for the wearer ’ s priority of comfort and the ease to live the product.
“Nature is beauty and simplicity”
we take these concepts as the key philosophy for every product created. We keep our products simple yet unique with quality and attention to detail. We value styles that are timeless and wearable. Also, we appreciate the best craft and see values for our customers to understand the meaningful journey of the products’ creation.
Sustain's clothing is completely natural, from the organic fibers that make up the thread and fabric, to the natural plant dyes that color our clothes. We carefully focus on every detail to make sure that the only things that touch your skin are purely from nature.
Our fibers are 100% natural and organic.
Our cotton is 100% organic, from the fabric, to the labels, to the thread used to sew it all together. That means that every step, from the growing of the cotton, to the processing of the cotton into fabric and thread, is free of pesticides, harmful chlorine bleaches and other toxic chemicals.
We only use safe and healthy natural dyes.
We believe that the clothing you put on your body should be as good for you as the food you put in it. That's why, instead of using petroleum-based dyes used on conventional clothing (and even used on other certified organic clothing), we use natural dyes. Here of some of the plants we use for dyes:
Indigo is probably the most well-known of natural dyes. Indigo has been used for thousands of years (dating back to 2000-3000 B.C.) for its ability to make strong and beautiful blues. In the 1800s, natural indigo was almost completely replaced by synthetic indigo, which is derived from the known toxin aniline (a chemical that has been used to make rocket fuel).
The textile industry uses up to 200 tonnes of water per tonne of fabric. When toxic synthetic dyes are used for fabrics, the hazardous chemicals from dyes and the mordants (what is used to set the dye on the fabric) often enter waterways, as detailed in the documentary RiverBlue. The documentary reported that over 70% of rivers in China are polluted, thanks in large part to the pollutants coming from the textile and garment factories.
Using natural dyes can still involve a significant amount of water use, but many mindful conscious fashion brands use practices to reduce water use and to recycle wastewater. Also, with natural dyes, there are no harmful pollutants released into the environment except...
If those natural dyes are "fixed" onto the fabrics using toxic mordants like chrome, this of course would release hazardous effluent and the textiles would still contain toxic chemicals.
Our brand tirelessly carry on the natural dye and hand weaving Heritage by bringing up its real values to the society and to create the community for Natural dye Artisan , hand weaving and for those who love, support and appreciate the Natural blue. We believe this best preserve and revive the heritage we dearly cherish not only in Thailand but around the world. Sustainable fashion brand where human rights and the environment coexist. 1. 2.
