Hey, hey, Monsters!

This is Zoe Yan, confidently se as your Monterey Trail Key Club's B Editor for the 2025 to 2026 term! It's already officially August, which means we are going back to school soon... haha.... I hope you guys had a fun summer and were able to check off your entire summer bucket list! I know our MTKC was able to get to all our events, such as our interclub with Hiram Johnson and Valley High School and our online General Meeting. We also just ended our first round of extended board applications, so if you weren't able to sign up this summer, look out for our second round when school comes back into session!

For future events, please look forward to our region's annual Colorsplash! This event is truly one of the best and most fun events that Key Club holds, so I hope you all can make it!! We also have some division service events incoming, and they are available for everyone trying to get those community service hours up! That should be you, monsterss!! Anyways, that will be all from me this month, and I hope to see you all again but in person once school starts!

In Peace and Community,

HEYYY MONSTERS!!!

This event is held regionally where you will be able to meet soooo many new people from other divisions! There will be exciting games, colorful activities, and maybe spark some new friendships! This event is an amazing opportunity to get involved and start the month with energy. You definitely would not want to miss out on this one monsters! I hope to see you all there! As our summer break comes to an end, I am super excited for what we have in store for this new upcoming school year! Let's start this new year with a splash!

Past Events Past Events

The Strauss Festival in Elk Grove is an annual four-day event, entailing a choreographed performance with orchestral numbers reminiscent of Austrian waltz shows. I showed up as a volunteer for two days of the event: on the first, I was tasked with handing out program flyers by one of the main gates; the day after, I was stationed as security next to the bridge where members would make their way on-stage. Both jobs weren't very difficult—but I did have to make sure that the flyers wouldn’t blow away (it was windy)! I volunteered during last year's festival as well—it was nice seeing everyone’s dedication to putting on the show for a second time.

The Strauss Festival service event is an easy and relaxing way to earn community service hours, as my job for both days was to hand out flyers to families. It is not required to stay for the full five hours, and they offer a free hotdog and drink in appreciation of our work, so I quite enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. Of course, there are food trucks and other vendors if you are still hungry or curious, or want to support local businesses. The leaders of this event are very nice and friendly, and I would love to work at this event again.
