From the molten magma from which this yearbook borrows its name came all of the elements that form the earth and all that is on the earth today. This borrowed name is possibly the most appropriate title that could have been chosen for this book because it too is composed of many elements that will change and advance the world. These elements, of course, are the students and faculty of the Montana School of Mines. To these future and present engineers. scientists, and world leaders we present this 1962 MAGMA in hopes that it may help preserve the manifold memories of its many owners.

"Let the soldier be abroad if he will, he can do nothing in this age. There is another personage,a personage less important in the eyes of some, perhaps insignificant. The schoolmaster is abroad, and I trust to him, armed with his primer, against the soldier in full military array." Henry Peter, Lord Brougham

Dancing to enchanting music.
Students and faculty danced to the music of the Black Knights long the banks of the "Moon River." The elaborate scenery held all spell-bound with the flower decorated arches, the tumbling waterfall, and golden fish darting about in the crystal clear pool below.
