PORTRAIT A. CHRISTMANN ESTATE Weingut A. Christman is a real family winery. With Fritz, Steffen and Sophie who entered in 2018, after her studies and internships abroad, the 6th, 7th and 8th generation are working together in the estate. Each generation has its own challenges and priorities, but all share the same understanding of the winemaker‘s life: work and everyday life are determined by nature. The focus is always on the vine. Together with their team the Christmanns strive for perfection. Therefore, they are pursuing the ideal size of the estate, which allows to personally accompany all decisive moments of the production
what is important: their vineyards in the best sites. Little by little, vineyards were passed along so that Christmann Estate can say today: 100% VDP.ERSTE AND VDP. GROSSE LAGE. This also means that they limit themselves to the grape varieties that produce the finest wines in the region: Riesling and Pinot Noir, on par with the best wines in the world. The estate is following organic and biodynamic farming for over 18 years. Therefore, the soils are full of life and the roots grow deeper. The vineyards have reached their balance. The vines grow only as many grapes as they can nourish. This allows to harvest healthy grapes year after year in several passages.

THE FAMILY NAME COMES FROM THE SMALL CITY of Moelln in northern Germany, deriving from the word “Burgomestre,” meaning head of the municipality. At the end of the 18th century, the company was dissolved and Henry Burmester Jr. established a new port wine company alongside his two sons, Frederick and Edward—H. Burmester & Sons. In 2005, the Sogevinus–Fine Wines Group acquired the Burmester Company, continuing the tradition of producing Porto wines of excellence. OUR COOPERATIVE WAS FOUNDED IN 2012 BY THE merger of two historic companies on the Modena wine scene. The Carpi Winery, which was founded in 1903 and a pioneering example of Agricoltural Cooperation, and the Sorbara Winery, the name that quintessentially identifies Lambrusco DOC. We are a cooperative with over 1,200 grape growers. They include historical wineries that have become avantgarde production sites in more than a century of social and technological evolution. Quality is what we aim for on a daily basis. The reason we welcome grapes from over 2,000 hectares of different vineyards is to select the best raw material and allocate it to our different wines. There is a good Lambrusco for every occasion and for us, people of Emilia, toasting and celebrating is serious business. We want to offer the world a great quality Lambrusco, which is respectful of tradition but also symbols of energy and lightheartedness.
