Sorority women at Mississippi State consistently maintain a higher average GPA than the allwomen’s average as well as having a higher graduation rate than the average general college student population. This success is the result of chapters holding their members to a higher academic standard by requiring women to maintain their grades to remain active members. Each chapter provides opportunities, such as having study parties, connecting members with similar majors, networking events, and providing encouragement to their members. Being part of a Panhellenic chapter can significantly enhance your academic experience. We understand that success within the classroom is one of the most important aspects of college, and our Panhellenic community can give you a strong support system as you focus on excelling as a student.

LEADERSHIP One of the most valuable aspects of our Panhellenic community is the abundance of leadership opportunities available to members. Our chapters place a strong emphasis on leadership development and actively encourage members to get involved, not only within their respective chapters, but also across campus and in the greater community. Through these experiences, women gain essential skills like effective communication, organization, management, cooperation, and more, all of which contribute to personal and professional growth. Greek life also serves as a great bridge to other

PHILANTHROPY Giving back and making a meaningful impact is at the heart of Greek life here at Mississippi State. Every Panhellenic chapter is proudly partnered with a local, national, or international charity, dedicating time, energy, and resources to causes that reach far beyond their own sisterhoods. This commitment reflects our belief in contributing to something greater than ourselves and making a difference in the lives of others. Most chapters host two to three major philanthropic events each year, where members come together to volunteer and raise funds. These events include mentoring programs, sporting events, various food fundraisers, and many more service-based activities. Such events are planned by our individual chapters and are often open to the entire community to attend and participate in, fostering an environment of collective impact. For our chapters, service isn’t just about fundraising, it’s about showing compassion, spreading kindness, and uplifting those around us. It's this spirit of selflessness and genuine care for others that truly defines what it means to be a Panhellenic woman.

First and foremost, welcome to Mississippi State University! Choosing to become part of the Bulldog family is the beginning of an exciting new chapter, one that will be filled with new experiences, meaningful growth, and lifelong friendships. By considering going through Panhellenic Recruitment, you’ve already taken your first courageous step toward something truly life-changing. Going through the Recruitment process is as meaningful as it is memorable. It will give you great stories, new confidences, new friends, and a small glimpse of all the wonderful things that lie ahead of you as a Mississippi State Student and a Sorority Woman. Three years ago, I was in your shoes, equal parts nervous about what college would be like, but also excited about all the new ways I would grow. Coming to Mississippi State from Pennsylvania without knowing anyone was a big step, but choosing to go through recruitment changed everything. I was welcomed with genuine warmth and kindness by women who saw me for who I was and believed in who I could become. Since then, Panhellenic has given me so much more than I ever expected, lifelong friends who love me through every season, a sisterhood that has challenged me, supported me, and celebrated me, and a space where I’ve grown into a more confident version of myself. What I found here wasn’t just a group of people, it was home, and the kind of community that has made Mississippi State feel like it was where I was always meant to be. Let me tell you a little more about what makes Greek Life at Mississippi State so special. Philanthropy and service are at the heart of everything we do. Each year, our Greek community raises over $500,000 for important causes and completes more than 65,000 hours of service. Academics are just as important, Panhellenic women consistently achieve a higher average GPA than the all-women’s average on campus. But above all, what ties it all together is the sense of belonging. We believe everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and supported. No matter your background or your story, there is a place for you here. Our chapters are ready to say, “We see you, and you belong.” Each of our nine Panhellenic chapters here on campus are made up of incredible women, each with her own strengths, passions, and personality. What they all have in common is that they’ve stood exactly where you are now. Every woman you meet during this process has her own story about how this community changed her life, and they’re so excited to share that with you. Every chapter has something different to offer, and that’s what makes this process so special, you get to find the space where you feel most like yourself. So make the most of every moment and every conversation. These women are opening their homes and their hearts to you, and I hope you walk into every room knowing that you’re welcome just as you are. When I came to Mississippi State I didn't know a single person, and now I have an entire community of women who I truly can’t imagine my life without. I am so excited that you are considering joining our Panhellenic community here at Mississippi State University – a place that has given me so much more than I could have ever hoped for! Deciding to take part in the recruitment process is truly an experience unlike any other; and, looking back now, I can confidently say it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. No matter your background or interests, there’s a place for you! Greek life at Mississippi State is built on authentic connections, leadership, personal growth, and service, all of which represents the heart of who we are as Panhellenic women. Each of our nine chapters has something special to offer with a group of women who embody these same core values. I want to encourage you to keep an open mind at all times, stay true to who you are, and embrace this experience fully in each conversation because you never know where it may lead you. Not that long ago, I was in the same spot you are today, anticipating this next season of life but also feeling overwhelmed by change. I know how challenging it can be to search for a sense of belonging in a new environment, but little did I know then how much I would come to love and appreciate this community and all who are part of it! Through my journey, I found not only a chapter, but a true home away from home, filled with women who continually challenge me to grow, inspire me to be better, show me how to serve well, and teach me how to lead with purpose and intention. Just as it has for me, I believe this community can provide you with the same support, friendship, and opportunity for success during your college years and far beyond. Sorority Life

TERMINOLOGY Active: A sorority member currently in college, who has been formally initiated by her chapter. Alumna: An initiated sorority member who is no longer active in a collegiate chapter. Bid: A formal invitation to join a sorority or fraternity. Total: The allowable chapter size on a campus, as determined by Panhellenic Council that includes both new and initiated members. Chapters that fall under total are allowed to participate in continuous open bidding (COB) until they reach total. Chapter: The local group of a national fraternity or sorority. College Panhellenic Executive Board: The officers of a College Panhellenic Association, responsible for the day-to-day business of the College Panhellenic Association. Continuous Open Bidding (COB): An opportunity for chapters that do not reach quota during primary recruitment to bid to quota and/or for chapters that are not at total to bid to total. The COB process is not structured by the College Panhellenic, and only chapters with available spaces in quota/total are eligible to participate in COB. Infraction: Any violation of a rule set by the College Panhellenic Executive Board, as governed by the National Panhellenic Conference. Intake: Also referred to as Membership Intake, this is a process whereby NPHC and MGC sororities select new members. Interfraternity Council (IFC): The governing body for 17 fraternities at Mississippi State University Intentional Single Preference: When a PNM who attended more than one preference event limits her options by listing only one chapter on her MRABA following preference round. Legacy: A PNM whose mother, sister, and sometimes grandmother is an alumna or active member in a particular sorority. Please see the Legacy page for further explanation. Letter of Recommendation: Also called a “rec”; a written letter or statement from an alumna, on the sorority’s official recommendation form, introducing and recommending Potential New Member for membership. Maximizing Your Options: When a PNM attends all parties that she is invited to, as the maximum party number per day will allow. Membership Recruitment Acceptance Binding Agreement (MRABA): A document that each Potential New Member completes immediately following the preference round of parties, ranking her membership preferences. This is a binding agreement, stating that a PNM is willing to accept a bid from any sorority she lists.

Sorority Life

TERMINOLOGY Mutual Selection: The process by which sororities invite PNMs to return, and PNMs make lists in order of which houses they would most like to return. National Panhellenic Conference (NPC): Founded in 1902, NPC provides support and guidance for its 26 member inter/national sororities and women’s fraternities and serves as the national voice on contemporary issues of sorority life. MSU has nine NPC-affiliated sororities. National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC): A council composed of the nine (“Divine Nine”) historically African American Greek-letter organizations. MSU has eight of the nine NPHC affiliated sororities and fraternities. New Member: the period when a woman who accepted a bid from a sorority but is not yet an active member of the chapter. As a new member, she receives education about the chapter’s values and history to prepare her for initiation. Philanthropy: A national and/or local charity that a sorority sponsors, donating time and money through service in order to promote human welfare. Potential New Member (PNM): Any woman who is eligible to participate in Primary Recruitment or Continuous Open Bidding. Primary Recruitment: A designated membership recruitment period during which a series of organized events are held for the purpose of selecting new members. Quota: The number of women a sorority may pledge during primary or informal recruitment. United Greek Council (UGC): The governing body of the two culturally based social fraternities and sororities at MSU. Recruitment Counselor (Gamma Chi): Greek women who are carefully selected and trained to guide PNMs and answer any questions related to Panhellenic recruitment. These women are fully disaffiliated from their own chapters. Snap Bid: A procedure used at the end of recruitment to help chapters reach quota prior to bid distribution. Strict Silence: the period of time after the close of preference events and prior to the distribution of bids when there is no communication between PNMs and sorority women Values-Based Recruitment: Recruitment focuses on conversations between chapter members and PNMs about organizational values and member organizations. A values-based recruitment emphasizes integrity, transparency, and authenticity.

EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

WHO ARE WE?

The Mississippi State Panhellenic Council is the supporting body of the nine National Panhellenic Conference sororities as MSU. The Panhellenic Executive Council is composed of 10 executive board members. These Panhellenic officers are current sorority members who have disaffiliated from their chapters during recruitment in order to provide unbiased planning and support for all involved in the process. Panhellenic strengthens the Greek community and is responsible for promoting scholarship, philanthropy, and safety for each sorority as well as the Greek community as a whole. Panhellenic provides activities and programs throughout the year to address current issues affecting college women and strives to create a diverse and accepting Greek Community that embodies every quality that a Panhellenic Woman should have.

MEET YOUR RECRUITMENT COUNSELORS Gamma Chis, or Recruitment Counselors, are sorority women who represent the MSU Panhellenic chapters and have participated in recruitment themselves, both as potential new members and as active sorority members. They have your best interest at heart and are available to help you during the week of recruitment by serving as an impartial listener, friend, and guide as a PNM’s main point of contact through the recruitment process. These 70 women have been through an extensive, semester-long training program in preparation for recruitment week.

Governing Councils

NATIONAL PANHELLENIC COUNCIL (NPC) The National Panhellenic Conference champions the collective interests of our member organizations and preserves the women’s-only sorority experience. NPC is the trade association for 26 national and international member organizations that are autonomous, women’s-only social sororities. As such, NPC is one of the largest organizations advocating for the women’s-only sorority experience. MSU is home to nine NPC Chapters.

NATIONAL PAN-HELLENIC COUNCIL (NPHC) Founded on May 10, 1930, at Howard University in Washington, D.C., the National Pan-Hellenic Council began. Affectionately known as “the Divine 9”, NPHC member organization’s primary purpose remains building community awareness and action through educational, economic, and service activities. MSU is home to all nine NPHC chapters.

INTERFRATERNITY COUNCIL (IFC) The Interfraternity Council exists to promote the shared interests and values of our member fraternities: leadership, service, brotherhood and scholarship. IFC believes in Fraternity and that the shared values of Fraternity drive the IFC to create better communities, better chapters and better men. IFC is a membership-based organizations for men. MSU is home to 18 IFC chapters.

UNITED GREEK COUNCIL (UGC) The primary purpose of the United Greek Council (UGC) at Mississippi State is to unite its members in order to share ideas and resources, promote mutual respect, and provide a support network for involved students. MSU is home to two UGC chapters - Delta Xi Phi, Sorority Inc. & Sigma Lambda Beta, Fraternity Inc.

What To Expect

ABOUT: Recruitment Orientation marks the start of recruitment! PNMs will gather on campus to learn about the recruitment process and get prepared for the week. PNMs will get to meet their Gamma Chi and other PNMs, hear from the Panhellenic Council and the OFSL staff. This is when PNMs will also receive their bag for the week and their four shirts provided for Philanthropy and Sisterhood rounds. WHAT TO WEAR: Dress code is casual. We will be both inside and outside this day, so you may want to wear layers. The only people in attendance on this day will be PNMs, Gamma Chis, Panhellenic Executive Council, and Fraternity & Sorority Life Staff, and we want you to show up however you’re comfortable. REMEMBER: Be yourself and be intentional! This is a great time to get to know your Gamma Chi group and other women in the process. There will also be a lot of important information shared this day, so make sure to be attentive and intentional with your time.

This is just the beginning of recruitment, but it’s your first real opportunity to start discovering where you might feel at home. Trust your instincts, stay open-minded, and reflect on what resonates with you. You’ll be watching videos from all nine Panhellenic chapters, so be sure to take thoughtful notes to help guide your decisions later.

PHILANTHROPY ROUND Aug. 14-15

ABOUT: The Philanthropy round of recruitment allows you to visit a maximum of seven chapters. During this round, you will get to see how important philanthropic efforts and community service are to our community. Fraternity and sorority chapters across the country spend countless hours raising awareness IMPORTANT!!! and funds for important causes such as cancer research, child abuse prevention, and more. ABOUT: The Sisterhood round allows you to attend a maximum of five parties. During these parties, chapters will provide information about financial responsibilities, time commitment, and bonds that contribute to their sisterhood. This allows potential new members to see the individuality, values, IMPORTANT!!! and spirit that each chapter holds. Financial information will also be provided by each chapter you visit during this round. This is a great time to really understand the chapters and get a deeper look into what makes each so unique.

RECRUITMENT WEEK PREFERENCE Aug. 18

ABOUT: In this final recruitment round, you will have the opportunity to attend a maximum of two parties. These parties will be longer than the parties on previous days, allowing for more in-depth conversations. This round is more serious and can be emotional for some women. Keeping this in mind, we ask that you be respectful of the women around you and remain silent on and off the row. During this round, chapter members may share with you what they love about their chapter, what their sorority means to them, and how it has played a role in developing and supporting them as individuals. Check out the examples below for inspiration, but the most important thing is to wear something that feels like you! REMEMBER: At the end of the day, we ask that you focus on what you really want to gain from joining a sorority. After all, the women around you in these parties could eventually be your sisters. Make sure that you feel comfortable, connected and take the time to see where you picture yourself as a member. Ultimately, this day is about finding your home away from home, so be intentional and your most authentic self!

ABOUT: Bid Day is the last and most exciting day of recruitment! This is when you get to open your official invitation to your new sisterhood and meet all of the women that make it up! While very exciting, Bid Day is a long day – make sure to rest and hydrate as you will be going nonstop! Be prepared to meet many new women, learn about your chapter, and celebrate your new home away from home! This day marks the beginning of the next chapter of your life, so we encourage you to invest yourself fully and makeIMPORTANT!!! the most of this day. You will receive a Bid Day Jersey or shirt from the chapter, so make sure your top is comfortable to wear under this. REMEMBER: Bid Day is a very exciting and very long day. Make sure you get a good night's sleep, and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated!

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS Q&A How do I register? Visit www.greeks.msstate.edu to register. Registration for recruitment opens May 15 and closes July 20. No applications will be accepted after July 20 at 11:59 p.m. Do I need to go to all events on my schedule? Yes! The objective of Recruitment is for each PNM to learn as much as you can about each chapter in order to make the best decision. Therefore, if you intentionally miss an event that you were invited to, you are not maximizing your options, and you can be released from the recruitment process. If I am a legacy to a sorority, what should I know? Panhellenic does not have any specific policies on legacies. Each sorority has a policy regarding legacies, and it is up to each chapter to decide whether to offer membership to a legacy. Likewise, legacies are not obligated to join a sorority to which they are a legacy. Ultimately, the individual PNM’s personality, character, resume, grades, etc., are the main determining factors for membership selection. If I participate in Primary Recruitment, am I obligated to join a sorority? PNMs who choose to participate in recruitment are not obligated to join a sorority. The recruitment process gives women interested in joining a sorority the opportunity to explore Greek life and see if it is the right fit. What if I only want to be in one specific sorority? Only wanting to be a member of one specific sorority, or only considering a few sororities, can severely limit a PNMs options for membership and can lead to disappointment. We encourage all PNMs to keep an open mind about the chapters and make a decision that is best for you and not based on others opinions. Please be kind and respectful.

Can I participate in both Recruitment and New Maroon Camp? New Maroon Camp will overlap directly with Panhellenic Sorority Recruitment. The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life will work to try to accommodate schedules so incoming students can participate in as much of NMC as possible. If you do choose to participate in both, your sorority recruitment schedule will take priority. If you miss NMC events for Panhellenic recruitment, please note that it will impact your attendance record for NMC incentives. Do I have to live in the sorority house? Mississippi State requires you to live in the residence halls your freshman year. Each sorority has its own policy regarding living in the chapter house. Some sororities require members to live in the house for one or two academic years. There is also an oncampus residence hall option for sorority women after their freshman year, pending availability!

Can I eat at the sorority house once I join, and is there a meal plan? Yes and yes! All incoming MSU students are required to purchase a campus dining meal plan. In addition, sorority members have a chapter meal plan that covers meals at the chapter house that is separate from the campus meal plan. If you join a sorority chapter through recruitment, Mississippi State allows you to adjust your campus meal plan by Sept. 1. You can switch to to a Weekly 14 or Weekly 7 to help offset the cost of having two meal plans.

TIPS & TRICKS RUMOR HAS IT Do not pay attention to any rumors you hear or things you see on social media. We encourage you to approach recruitment with an open mind. This process is all about discovering the chapters for yourself and forming your own opinions. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to your Gamma Chi.

CHIT CHAT

Be mindful of your words when talking about chapters. Everyone has different experiences and connections, and it's important to respect those perspectives. Please remember that negative or disrespectful comments about any chapter are not appropriate at any time.

DESIGNER? NO NEED! Panhellenic will provide all PNMs a bag to use during Recruitment to store any personal items. All PNMs will receive the same bag and will be given the opportunity to personalize it. You will not be able to bring your own bags to the row during recruitment. Nothing is to be brought into the houses during parties. These bags will be left outside of the chapter houses with the Gamma Chis.

ALL THE ESSENTIALS The essentials are anything you might want or need to use between parties. These can be stored in your bag provided by Panhellenic, such as a ponytail holder, bobby pins, hairbrush, personal hand-held fan, portable phone charger, mints, snacks, water bottle, band-aids, deodorant, perfume, umbrella, feminine hygiene products, etc.

AUGUST IN MISSISSIPPI It will be very hot during recruitment week! We want everyone to be safe, so please keep that in mind when picking out your outfits. We suggest wearing lightweight clothing that will help keep you cool and comfortable.

LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION REC LETTERS A Recommendation or Reference Letter (often called a REC or RIF) serves as an introduction to a sorority, helping members learn more about you before primary recruitment in the fall. These letters are typically completed by alumnae using official forms provided by their sorority’s national organization. They highlight your character, academic achievements, and extracurricular involvement. While helpful, recommendation letters are optional and not required to participate in primary recruitment. Each sorority has its own policy on accepting them, and MSU Panhellenic does not manage or access individual chapter forms.

Alumnae should consult their sorority’s national website for specific instructions, as requirements vary. You won’t be notified if a chapter receives your recommendation, so it’s important to trust the alumna writing on your behalf. Sending her a prompt thank-you note can serve as both appreciation and a gentle reminder. Most chapters prefer to receive recommendations by Aug. 1.

LETTERS OF SUPPORT

Although letters from sorority alumnae are preferred, we understand that not all potential new members may have access to one from each MSU Panhellenic chapter. To provide an alternative, this year’s recruitment application includes the option to submit a general academic letter of support. This optional letter can be written by a teacher, guidance counselor, or principal and does not require the author to be affiliated with a Greek organization. The focus should be on your character, highlighting qualities such as leadership, academic dedication, service, and the ability to form meaningful relationships. Please note that including this letter is entirely voluntary, and how each sorority considers it is at the discretion of the individual chapter.

First-time Freshman in a Greek Organization with an on-campus Fraternity/Sorority house with a kitchen have the option of choosing from the Weekly 21, Weekly 14, or Weekly 7 Meal Plans (during Fall Semester only) to supplement their in-house meals at the chapter house or facility. Please note, ALL first-time freshmen are required to have an MSU Dining Meal Plan. In addition, Panhellenic Sororities have a separate chapter meal plan through their chapter fees and dues, which should not be confused with MSU Dining Meal Plans. Following Bid Day, you will have two weeks after classes start to change your meal plan. If you have any questions, please contact the MSU Dining Office at 662-325-7120.

SUMMER RECRUITMENT RULES & POLICIES 1. Normal contact between sorority women, including alumnae, and prospective potential new members is allowed outside of the period of strict silence, which is the time after the close of preference events and prior to the distribution of bids. This contact should be Panhellenicspirited and should not be deliberately in relation to recruiting for a specific organization. 2. Gifts/favors of any kind for potential new members are not allowed during the summer until they have accepted a bid. 3. No member or alumnae may spend money personally on any potential new member or prospective potential new member at any time. 4. No active chapter member can request personal information from potential new members or from any relative or friend of a potential new member.

POTENTIAL NEW MEMBER RIGHTS 1. The right to be treated as an individual. 2. The right to be fully informed about the recruitment process. 3. The right to ask questions and receive true and objective answers from recruitment counselors and members. 4. The right to be treated with respect. 5. The right to be treated as a capable and mature person without being patronized. 6. The right to ask how and why and receive straight answers. 7. The right to have and express opinions to recruitment counselors. 8. The right to have inviolable confidentiality when sharing information with recruitment counselors. 9. The right to make informed choices without being under pressure from others. 10. The right to be fully informed about the binding agreements implicit in the membership acceptance signing. 11. The right to make one’s own choice and decision and accept full responsibility for the results of that decision. 12. The right to have a positive, safe, and enriching recruitment and new member experience.

CODE OF ETHICS As members of the Mississippi State University Panhellenic Association, we, the undersigned, agree that our vision is a safe, positive, enriching recruitment experience with the goal of providing opportunities for the greatest possible number of women to obtain membership in a women’s fraternity. In order to reach our common goal, we will strive to create a Panhellenic environment of trust, honesty, unity, and cooperation among all chapters. Therefore, we solemnly promise to:

• Respect ourselves, our sisters, and the Greek community as a whole. We will work with other sororities to improve the Greek community. • Enable every Potential New Member an equal opportunity and act accordingly with true Panhellenic spirit as well as our own chapter values and moral judgments. • Promote the safety and protection of current and prospective members. • Treat Potential New Members with the same respect before, during, and after Recruitment. • Abide by all official Panhellenic codes, including but not limited to: The Panhellenic Creed, The Potential New Member Bill of Rights, The Panhellenic Recruitment Rules, and The National Panhellenic Conference Unanimous Agreements. • Leave the Potential New Member with a positive idea of what sisterhood could be. • Encourage the Potential New Member to explore the freedom of thought in her decisions. • Assure the Potential New member about the Recruitment process, membership requirements, and external and internal responsibilities. • Provide every Potential New Member an equal opportunity. • Strive to maintain a campus scholastic average that is above the all women’s average.

Potential New Member Contract Panhellenic Recruitment at Mississippi State University is a fantastic process and we are so glad you decided to participate this week. The sorority experience is not a right-but a privilege. These campus chapters have worked for over a year preparing for your arrival. As an honored guest in our chapter’s recruiting facilities, you are to act in accordance to the following expectations during Formal Recruitment, starting August 2025: 1. I will attend all parties for which I receive an invitation, and if I refuse to attend a party, the Panhellenic Recruitment team reserves the right to release me from the process no matter how many invitations I had received that day. 2. I will remain respectful towards myself, other potential new members, chapter members, and university staff at all times. 3. I will refrain from negative discussion pertaining to the individuals mentioned throughout the duration of the Panhellenic Recruitment process. This includes any and all messages I choose to post via social media. 4. I will remain polite and respectful when attending all events at all times during the recruitment process, including but not limited to, inside and outside of chapter facilities, break and meal times. 5. I understand that the consumption of alcohol/substances are not permitted during Recruitment week and/or during bid day activities. 6. I will dress appropriately for each party in accordance with the expectations for that round. This includes complying with the mandated t-shirts. 7. I understand that I can have communication with chapter members during the summer, but this communication should stop once the Formal Recruitment process in August 2025 begins. 8. I recognize that I must have proper time management skills throughout the week (attending all recruitment counselor meetings on time, attending all events on time, etc.) 9. I understand that Mississippi State University, Panhellenic, Panhellenic Staff, Advisors, and Recruitment Counselors are not liable for the damage of my personal property that I chose to bring with me. 10. I understand that, if invited to join a chapter, I will be responsible for the financial obligations of membership. 11. I understand that I will be flexible and understanding with the Recruitment Team and chapters that may have to adjust schedules based on circumstances out of our control, i.e., weather, technological issues, etc. 12. I understand that if I am matched with a chapter and receive an invitation to membership and sign the Membership Recruitment Binding Agreement (MRABA), I am bound to that organization and considered ineligible for an invitation to membership from any other chapter for one calendar year.

Recruitment Acceptance Binding Agreement (MRABA), formerly known as the “Preference Card.” The MRABA is a binding agreement that is effective for one calendar year. When signing this document, you, as a Potential New Member, agree to accept a bid for membership from any sorority that you rank on the MRABA. Please note that if you receive an invitation to membership (a bid) from any sorority that you ranked on your MRABA, then you are bound to that group for one calendar year (August 2025August 2026). Most importantly, if you receive a bid from any sorority that you have listed on your MRABA and you choose not to accept it, you are not eligible to participate in Continuous Open Bidding (COB) in Fall 2025 or Spring 2026.

WHEN DO I SIGN? If you receive an invitation to the Preference round, you will make your final selection at the conclusion of your last party. Here you will rank the chapter(s) you visited on Monday, August 18 in preferential order. Once you complete your rankings, you will sign a copy of the MRABA. Please note that once the MRABA has been turned into a representative of the MSU Panhellenic Council, it cannot be altered or changed.

MRABA OPTIONS Prior to signing the MRABA, you have several options to consider. We suggest that you thoroughly reflect on these before signing your MRABA.

1. You may choose NOT to complete the MRABA, thereby withdrawing from recruitment. If you

choose this option, you are eligible to accept a bid for membership from any sororities participating in Continuous Open Bidding. A small number of sororities may be able to recruit a limited number of women through the COB process after Primary Recruitment if their chapter is below the Campus Total; however, this is not guaranteed. 2. You may choose to list any sorority whose preference event you attended and from whom you are willing to accept an invitation to membership (a bid). Please note that you should NOT rank a sorority on your MRABA that you are absolutely not willing to accept a bid for membership. If you match with a sorority that you listed on your MRABA, it is important to note that you are bound to that sorority for one calendar year (August 2025-August 2026), regardless of whether you officially accept their invitation for membership or not. 3. You may choose to limit your choices to just one sorority whose preference round event you attended and from whom you are willing to accept an invitation to membership. You must understand that if you chose to single intentional preference, then you are not guaranteed to receive a bid for membership. Only Potential New Members who maximize their options and list ALL of the chapters that they attended during the preference round are guaranteed to receive a bid for membership during Primary Recruitment. If you do not receive an invitation to membership (a bid) from any of the sororities that you have listed, you are eligible for Continuous Open Bidding (COB).

THE MRABA Part 1: Withdrawing or Continuing in Recruitment. Initial one of the following options: ____ I want to withdraw from Recruitment. I will not join a sorority now. I could join a sorority in the future by participating in the COB (“COB”) process. I will not complete this contract. (Next Step: Continue to Part 5). ____ I am continuing in Recruitment. (Next Step: Continue to Part 2). Part 2: Show that you understand the ranking process. Initial each statement. By signing the MRABA, I understand and agree that each of these statements is true: ____ I am willing to accept an invitation to membership (“bid”) from any sorority I list in Part 4. ____ I will rank each sorority in the order of my preference for receiving a bid. ____ If I attended a sorority’s preference event, and I would not accept a bid from that sorority, I do not have to rank that sorority. ____ I understand that if I choose to rank fewer sororities, I might not receive a bid through Primary Recruitment. Part 3: Show that you understand the effect of submitting the MRABA. Initial each statement below. By signing the MRABA, I understand and agree that each of these statements is true: ____ After I submit this form, I cannot change my rankings. I cannot add or delete any sororities to my rankings. ____ If I do not receive a bid from any sorority I ranked, I understand I am eligible to join any sorority later, through the COB process. I understand that not all sororities will recruit through COB. ____ If I do receive a bid from a sorority I ranked, but I choose not to accept that bid, I understand that I am not eligible to join any other sorority on this campus until the start of the next primary Recruitment. ____ If I do accept a bid from a sorority, but I break my pledge or the sorority breaks the pledge, I understand that I am not eligible to be pledged by a different sorority on this campus until the start of the next primary recruitment. Part 4: Rank your preferences. Rank in order of your preference for receiving a bid. 1st Preference ____________________________________________________ 2nd Preference (if applicable) ____________________________________________ Part 5: Sign the contract. I have read and understand this MRABA. By signing or submitting this MRABA, I agree to be bound by its terms. I agree that completing this form electronically has the same legal effect of completing a paper version. I have never been initiated into an NPC sorority. I understand that if I join an NPC sorority and choose to become an initiated member of that sorority, I cannot join another NPC member organization, regardless of any circumstances.

As much as we love social media and keeping up with all the latest trends, this week is all about you! Make this decision for you, and don’t let others influence you into one decision or another. With this being your decision, we encourage not posting about your week and experiences with our chapters.

TAKE A BREATH!

You’ve got this! This week may seem like it will dictate your entire collegiate experience, but it won’t! Every chapter has something special to offer and so do you – keep an open mind and take a breath!

BE READY!

Make sure you’ve got everything you need for each day of recruitment packed and ready to go the night before. However, being prepared isn’t just about your outfit, hair, and makeup. Take a little time each morning to check in with yourself and get in the right headspace. Recruitment can be exciting but also overwhelming, so staying grounded and mentally ready will help you show up as your best, most authentic self.
