CONSERVATION STATUS: Data deficient DESCRIPTION: This beautiful crustacean can weigh up to 15 pounds and grows by shedding its old shells while simultaneously absorbing water to expand their body size. This occurs around 25 times each year until they reach about 7 years of life where they molt annually thereafter! They like to live in rocks and crevices in and around coral reefs, and are an important prey source for a range of predators including humans!
