CONSERVATION STATUS: Threatened DESCRIPTION: The Queen Conch is a large marine snail that can live to over 30 years, and takes around 5 years before it can reproduce. In the environment, it is an important part of the “clean-up crew”, removing detritus and other organic matter from the seafloor. In The Bahamas, it is regarded as an important source of protein, and considered so culturally significant, it features on Bahamian Coat of Arms!
