During his time at PTHS, Viramontes was a member of National Honor Society, was a Regional competitor in Science, was Academic All-State as a member of the Pine Tree Cross Country team and had numerous other academic honors while attending PTHS. “I am grateful to Pine Tree High School, the administration and teaching staff, for four great years on campus,” he said. “I have especially enjoyed the friendships I have made at Pine Tree. These are people who have influenced me and who, in return, I have influenced.” He said he looks forward to college and career but will never forget the wonderful instructors he had at Pine Tree, teachers who have helped shape him into the person he is today.

He plans to attend The University of Texas at Tyler and study Biochemistry. During his time at Pine Tree High School, Cabudoy was a Regional competitor in Science, was a State competitor in TMSCA and a State competitor in TAME for two years. He has also garnered numerous other academic awards while attending PTHS. “I am honored to be Salutatorian and thank the administration and teaching staff at Pine Tree for four wonderful years,” he said. “I am grateful and happy that our class - the Class of 2021 - has been so supportive of each other. We did not see the hard core competition among fellow classmates that I have seen with other classes, so I am thankful to have many outstanding and supportive friends among the Class of 2021.” Cabudoy said his time at PTHS is something he will always remember because he was instructed by some wonderful teachers who will be part of his life from now on. He also said he learned a lot while at PTHS and will use this knowledge as a basis to be successful in college and career.

Kennedy Croom, daughter of Matthew and Kristin Croom, has been involved in athletics, band, TMSCA, UIL and multiple student organizations at Spring Hill High School. Kennedy competed athletically as a four-year member of the Spring Hill Tennis Team, with three years as a varsity team member. She was a four-year member of the Blue Brigade, and served as the Clarinet Section Leader on the Student Leadership Team her senior year. Kennedy was a four-year member of the TMSCA Math/Science Team, was chosen to serve as a team Officer, and has competed at the TMSCA State Competition twice. Kennedy is the President of Z-Club, Vice President of Student Council, Vice President for the Class of 2021, and Treasurer in the National Honor Society. She previously served

as Secretary of the Student Council and Treasurer of Z-Club as a junior, also holding membership positions in all mentioned activities since her freshman year. She also joined the yearbook staff and served as the business manager her senior year. Kennedy competed in multiple UIL Academic Events including math, science, current events and copy editing. Her senior year, Kennedy has advanced to the Regional Competition for Copy Editing. In addition to her school service activities, Kennedy was selected to represent Spring Hill High School for the Rotary Youth Leadership Award in 2020, and the Texas Bank and Trust Student Bank Board for 2020-2021. Kennedy was honored to be chosen by her classmates as a member of both the Homecoming Court and as a Miss Spring Hill nominee. After graduation, Kennedy will attend the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business where she was accepted to the Canfield Business Honors Program and the Jefferson Scholars Program. In addition to her business studies, Kennedy intends to pursue a double major in International Relations with a minor in Spanish. Following her undergraduate degree, Kennedy plans to attend law school to become an attorney and practice International Law.

Each memory I have made in high school is deeply cherished as those moments are precious, although Friday night football games were my favorite since they were spent playing in the band and supporting the team alongside my friends. My greatest accomplishment would have to be earning the title of valedictorian and making my parents proud that I was able to overcome obstacles that came with being the first in my family to graduate from high school.

computer engineering major. In the future, I want to design and program robots that operate in extreme conditions, such as fires. Machines can operate in a much larger range of harmful conditions than humans can, and I want to take advantage of that fact. Who is your favorite teacher and why? Mr. Clay, because he is fun to be around. Having him as the math coach on the UIL math team was very enjoyable. What is your favorite high school memory? Competing with other students in UIL and having fun after you compete was definitely one of the best parts of my high school experience. What is your biggest accomplishment in high school? Becoming a National Merit Finalist. It took lots of diligence and hard work to improve my score, but I’m proud that I accomplished it.

She participated in basketball and softball, and she will have finished her courses in Vet Medicine. Lauren received the Presidential Scholarship from TJC and will attend in the fall.

What are your plans after high school? Upon graduating high school, I plan to attend The University of Texas at Austin to pursue a degree within the College of Natural Sciences as a biology major. Currently, I intend to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree from UT Austin prior to attending medical school with the hopes of becoming a certified medical professional. Who is your favorite teacher and why? Abbey Matatall has helped me in making difficult decisions regarding future college plans, and I will always be thankful for her judgement and expertise. What is your favorite high school memory? Sophomore year, the band travelled to New York City, and we toured Times Square and made memories I’ll never forget. What is your biggest accomplishment in high school? In 2019, we advanced to the State Marching Contest and came out as the best 2A Military Marching Band in the state of Texas.

Talented Program What are your plans after high school? After graduating from high school, I plan to attend Texas State University as a nursing major. I intend to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and study further in hopes of becoming a nurse anesthetist. Who is your favorite teacher and why? Rhonda Wilcox has always been there for me whenever I needed some guidance whether it be algebra related or not. She’s the sweetest teacher ever. What is your favorite high school memory? My favorite high school memory was at the 2018 UIL Area Band Marching Contest when they announced that we had advanced to state. What is your biggest accomplishment in high school? It would have to be writing a 20,000-word novel for my 11th grade Honors English class.

Who is your favorite teacher and why? Mr. Robert Magee because he pushes his students to actually think and learn instead of just memorizing facts and steps. What is your favorite high school memory? My favorite high school memory, or well memories, would have to be being with the band in the stands at football games. What is your biggest accomplishment in high school? My biggest accomplishment would be graduating as Valedictorian and being able to further my education at SFA in the fall.
