A PARK CITY SUMMER
After a long winter with celebrated snow levels, the appearance of summer can cause happy dances galore. It’s time to switch out the gear, move the golf clubs to the front of the garage or trunk, and uncover the patio furniture. Gather around a fi re pit and be amazed by the star-fi lled night sky while discussing what is on the agenda for tomorrow. Will it be wading a mountain stream in search of trout or savoring the music at a local concert? Whatever the choice, you are sure to enjoy summer and fall in beautiful Park City.
THE INSIDER’S GUIDE
Whether your interest is riding down the ridge on your bike, listening to guitar solos, strolling the farmers market or hiking epic trails while basking in sunshine and blue skies, Park City is the perfect summer and fall destination for you.
Concerts, Picnics and Lodging
A visit to Park City isn’t complete without the sweet sound of summer concerts. You can opt for the Canyons Village Summer Concert Series, free patio concerts at Park City Library on Wednesdays and Saturdays, or star-studded concerts at the Deer Valley Music Festival. Here’s a tip that will be music to your ears: many local restaurants offer picnic basket lunches and dinners that can be ordered and taken to a show. Additionally, concert-goers often can land a discount on lodging near concert venues so you can stay close to the show. For example, Deer Valley Resort usually offers 15% off room rates for concert attendees.
Easy Transportation
Park City offers no-cost transportation options that are simple to use. Park City Transit operates a free, yearround bus service with 13 bus routes that make frequent connections to area destinations for residents and visitors.
High Valley Transit offers micro vans that pick up and drop off within steps of where you’re going (think Uber, but free).
High Valley Transit also operates seven bus lines that travel throughout the Wasatch Back and has a convenient app that makes scheduling a ride or finding a route super easy.
Summer Lift Rides
Enjoy scenic lift rides this summer! You can purchase an adult day pass at Park City Mountain Resort for $37, which offers visitors unlimited foot passenger rides. Deer Valley Resort offers full-day and single-ride passes daily, twilight ride passes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and free Silver Lake Express chairlift rides on weekends in September. Both resorts offer summer season lift ride passes. Ikon Pass and Ikon Base Plus pass holders are entitled to a discounted summer season pass at Deer Valley, while Epic Pass holders get free summer chairlift and gondola access to Park City Mountain Resort. Summer and fall lift rides are a great way to cover a lot of ground and get a bird’s-eye view of Park City.
E-Bikes from Summit Bike Share
Ditch your car and hop on an electric bike for a fun mountain adventure. The city has installed Summit Bike Share e-bike stations throughout the city limits at bus transit centers, city parks and resort areas. Visitors can take advantage of e-biking for a fraction of the cost of full-day bike rentals while simultaneously being environmentally conscious. Each bike station has a “pay as you ride” option. Download the Summit Bike Share app to find station locations and pay. No e-bikes are allowed on singletrack or soft-surfaced trails less than 5 feet wide. Learn it. Love it. Abide by it. Or, get a fine.
Pickleball for All
Since pickleball continues to be America’s fastestgrowing sport, you may have packed your racket in hopes your visit to Park City will include a game or two. You are in luck! Willow Creek Park has been named the most popular pickleball court location in Utah by the website Pickleheads. There are eight dedicated outdoor courts that are available to anyone and have permanent lines and nets. Open summer play (yes, for all levels) runs from approximately 8:30 a.m. to noon every day here, so get there early. Players use a paddle rotation system.
THE BUCKET LIST
Park City is revered as one of the most quintessential mountain towns in the nation. Here there are endless opportunities for outdoor adventure and majestic mountain landscapes all around. Park City is also the kind of place where community pancake breakfasts are always a good idea and adults and dogs dressed in costumes are weekly occurrences. Main Street transforms into a huge outdoor dining room during Savor the Summit as well as a giant ball chute as part of Miners Day. From the quirky to the mainstream, you won’t want to miss these and other unique summer events in Park City.
NAC Barn Party
You’ll find nothing but down-home fun at the summer Barn Party held at the National Ability Center in June. Make a difference during your vacation and show your support for Park City and this local nonprofit that works to transform the lives of those with physical and cognitive disabilities. Kick up your spurs at this family-friendly event with dinner, live music, mechanical bull riding, an auction, a saloon and more! There’s nothing more Park City than this.
Your Barn Door is Open
The annual McPolin Farm summer barbecue in June is your chance to get a free tour of the historic McPolin Barn while enjoying the summer sun, live music on the property and BYOB drinks. Guests learn how milk was collected from cows back in the early 1900s and feast their eyes on the hay loft, a modern marvel in 1922. The iconic white McPolin Barn in Park City is one of the few historic barns still standing in Summit County, making this event extra special.
Miners Day
In Park City, Labor Day is synonymous with Miners Day, the longest-running event in Park City. Celebrate Park City’s mining history with festivities such as a pancake breakfast, 5K fun run, parade and flyover as well as the highly anticipated Running of the Balls down Main Street. Don’t miss mucking and drilling demonstrations that provide a glimpse of what it was like during silver mining days.
Canyons Summer Concert Series
Make your way to the mountain this July and August. The Canyons Village Summer Concert Series is fun for the whole family and features a music schedule stacked with every genre. Pack up a picnic basket, grab a blanket or low-backed chair, and rally your loved ones before heading to Canyons Village for a summer evening of music and fresh mountain air. Be sure to leave dogs and alcoholic drinks at home.

Mountain Beer Festival
This local’s favorite beer festival in September includes chairlift access via Silver Lake Express, outdoor dining with a myriad of cuisine options, live music, yard games, local vendors, and a full slate of family-friendly activities. There are event packages available, from the non-drinker package to the beer-loving imperial package. Plus, Deer Valley Resort offers lodging packages so visitors can indulge in a weekend of brews and mountain views.
Park City’s Annual Dine About
This nine-day foodie extravaganza takes place in October and features a deal on lunches or dinners from your favorite Park City restaurants. Visitors can take advantage of deals that include two-course lunches for $15, $25 or $30 per person, and three-course dinners for $30, $45 or $60 per person, depending on the restaurant. There are no coupons, no punch cards and no secret handshakes. Just simply walk in, ask your server for a Dine About menu and enjoy.
