Dieser Aufgabe haben wir uns auch wieder bei der Entwicklung unserer Kollektion für die Saison Frühjahr_Sommer 2020 gestellt. Dabei folgen wir bei der Entwicklung unserer hochwertigen Outdoor-Schuhe immer unseren drei obersten Kriterien: eine perfekte Passform, höchste Qualität und Innovation bis ins kleinste Detail. Worauf es uns und vor allem unseren Kunden besonders ankommt? Outdoor-Schuhe müssen in jeder Situation perfekt funktionieren – und funktionieren kann nur, was perfekt passt. Für Schuhe gilt dies fast noch mehr als für jeden anderen Ausrüstungsgegenstand der Outdoor-Fans. Daher legen wir größten Wert auf die Passform und den Tragekomfort. Ganz

entscheidend sind darüber hinaus Sicherheitsfaktoren wie die Griffigkeit der Sohle, Stabilität, Wasserschutz, Sensibilität und Zuverlässigkeit. Um dies dauerhaft sicherzustellen, setzen wir konsequent auf Qualität „Made in Europe“. Unser Ziel ist es, ein möglichst langlebiges Produkt in nachhaltiger Weise zu produzieren. Besides regional institutions and projects, the company supports social and cultural projects on both national and international level. In Nepal for example, LOWA helped Nepalhilfe Beilngries e.V. to build a school and distributes its LOWA athletic footwear through the organisation KENIAL e.V. In Germany, LOWA is among other things an ambassador and supporter of the Outdoor against Cancer partner network.

COMPANY AND EMPLOYEES

Footwear maker, warehouse specialist or procurement manager – the professions at LOWA are as varied as the people who work in them. Their skills, their craftsmanship and their commitment are what makes LOWA a successful brand. For this reason, LOWA strives to offer its employees – around 250 of them in Jetzendorf – the best possible working environment. In addition to interesting areas of work, this also means a whole host of opportunities for further training and professional development. A company pension plan is one obvious aspect of LOWA’s commitment to its staff, as is the creation of a work environment in which employees treat one another with openness, fairness, and tolerance.

Outdoor companies live with and off nature. The company has thus been helping with the reforestation of Bavarian mountain forests for many years and with the LOWINGO cuddly toy supports WWF conservation projects.

PRODUCTIONS SITES AND CONDITIONS What does LOWA expect from its employees and business partners? This is clearly defined in the company’s Code of Conduct. Every supplier and producer has to sign this document which sets out working hours, wages, leave, occupational health and safety and more. Additionally, internal audits ensure that the Code of Conduct is being followed.

At LOWA, every single pair of boots and shoes matters – after more than 90 years in business, we know how much work, effort and skill go into every single step. Davon ist Dr. Micha Bahr, Facharzt für Kinderchirurgie und Manuelle Medizin, mehr als überzeugt und entwickelt daher erneut gemeinsam mit LOWA den LEDRO GTX® LO JUNIOR. Ein Konzept, das bei den Kids bereits bei der MID-CUT-Variante so gut ankam, dass nun konsequenterweise auch ein Halbschuh folgen musste. Dementsprechend steht das neue Halbschuh-Modell seinem großen Vorbild in nichts nach.

Dr Micha Bahr, a specialist in children’s surgery and manual medicine, deeply believes in this principle. As a result, he has worked with LOWA again to develop the LEDRO GTX® LO JUNIOR. The concept used in the MID-CUT version was so popular among kids that the company had to take the next step and create a low-cut model as well. The new model is equal to its predecessor in every way.

Die LOWA-Außensohle aus thermoplastischem Polyurethan (TPU) überzeugt durch eine sehr hohe Abriebfestigkeit. Die Vorteile einer TPU-Sohle liegen in einer sehr guten Flexion und der guten Kombinationsmöglichkeit mit dünnen, leichten Außensohlen.

DOUBLE INJECTION Für eine optimale Dämpfung und einen verbesserten Tragekomfort wird die Sohle des Schuhs über ein komplexes Anspritzverfahren mit dem Schaft verbunden. Dabei wird der Oberschuh in eine speziell gefertigte Gussform gestellt. Diese wird dann in unterschiedlichen Schichten mit einem PU-Schaumstoff aufgefüllt. Dadurch bildet sich die Sohle und verbindet diese direkt mit dem Schaft. To provide optimal cushioning and improve comfort, the sole of the shoe is attached to the upper in a complex injection-moulding process, meaning the upper shoe is placed in a specially designed mould. The form is then filled with several layers of a PU foamed material. This creates the sole and directly joins it to the upper.

Für optimalen Halt und eine perfekte Unterstützung des Fußes hat LOWA im Jahr 1995 ein dreidimensionales Design der Mittelsohle entwickelt. Dieser Rahmen mit dem Namen LOWA MONOWRAP® fasst den Fuß perfekt ein und unterstützt diesen an besonders beanspruchten Stellen. Der Rahmen wird, wie auch der Rest der Sohle, aus Polyurethan gefertigt.

Weitestgehend verantwortlich für das Abrollverhalten und die Dämpfung eines Schuhs ist die Zwischensohle. Diese besteht bei LOWA aus einem speziell entwickelten Kunststoff: LOWA DynaPU®. Die Besonderheit: Das Material ist enorm formbeständig. Selbst wenn es tausend Mal zusammengedrückt wird, behält es trotzdem seine Stabilität und Substanz. So haben die daraus gefertigten Schuhe auch noch nach vielen Kilometern optimale Dämpfungseigenschaften.

To create optimal stability and provide perfect support to the foot, LOWA developed a three-dimensional design of the midsole in 1995. This frame is called LOWA MONOWRAP® and perfectly envelopes the foot, providing support where it is needed the most. The frame, like the rest of the sole, is made of polyurethane.

The LOWA MONOWRAP® frame creates the optimal structure for the upper and provides a high level of lateral stability.

The midsole is the heart of rolling properties and shoe cushioning. LOWA has exclusively developed a special polyurethane (PU) foam material that meets all cushioning, comfort and durability criteria: LOWA DynaPU®. The special feature: The material is extremely dimensionally stable. It retains its stability and substance even when it is pressed together 1,000 times. As a result, the finished shoes will maintain their optimal cushioning ability even after you have walked many kilometres in them.

LOWA DynaPU®+ is a specially developed foam padding that is used for the midsole of a boot. It plays a key role in the roll-over behaviour and the cushioning of the footwear. The new LOWA DynaPU®+ offers even better recovery behaviour thanks to its special cell structure. This, in turn, creates an improved rebound effect for athletes. Even during constant use, this recovery behaviour does not lose any of its high performance qualities, and maintains its stability and substance.

ANATOMICAL FIT

Neben dem dynamischen Polyurethan-Schaumstoff, wird auch eine weitere Form eingesetzt, die das Thema Haltbarkeit in den Fokus rückt: LOWA DuraPU®. To complement its dynamic polyurethane cushioning material, LOWA employs another material that adds new emphasis to the area of durability: LOWA DuraPU®. Unlike LOWA DynaPU®, this special cushioning material is primarily used in ATC models and markedly increases the shoe’s performance, something that produces special toughness and dimensional stability.

The sole is designed in such a way that it adapts to the anatomical contours of the foot. This increases comfort and prevents fatigue. These advances are produced by the integrated cushioning added to the insole and by their anatomical form that provides natural support to the arch of the foot.

In der Tierwelt besitzen Reptilien für ihre empfindliche Haut einen schützenden Panzer. So schützt auch LOWA REPTEX das Obermaterial des Schuhs vor Beschädigung durch beispielsweise scharfe Gesteinskanten. Dieser optimale Schutz bei gleichzeitiger Reduzierung des Gesamtgewichts, im Vergleich zu Gummi, erhöhen die Performance am Berg spürbar.

Wenn sich der Schaft eines Wanderschuhs leicht beugen lässt, kann der Fuß besser abrollen. Dies spart vor allem beim Bergaufgehen Kraft und sorgt für spürbaren Komfort. Daher hat LOWA eine flexible Zone und einen sog. „Lace Loop“ im Bereich der Fußbeuge eingearbeitet. Darunter versteht man das Versetzen der Öse und den Einsatz eines flexiblen Tiefzughakens, der den Fersensitz verbessert und die Beugung erleichtert.

Durch die Verwendung großflächiger Schaftteile werden Nähte vermieden. Dies bietet einen hohen Tragekomfort.

The feet can roll more easily if a hiking boot is easy to bend. Such a feature saves energy when the wearer climbs hills and provides real comfort in the process. For this reason, LOWA has integrated a flexible zone and a so called “lace loop” into this area. This involves the repositioning of the boot’s eyelets and the use of a flexible lace hook that improves heel comfort and facilitates bending.

Durch die Zweizonenschnürung verfügen der Vorfuß und Schaft über getrennt einstellbare Schnürzonen. Dadurch kann der Schuh indivi duell an die Anatomie des Fußes angepasst werden.

In the animal kingdom, reptiles have protective armour for their delicate skin. Similarly, LOWA REPTEX protects the boot’s upper against damage caused by things like sharp rock edges. This optimum protection significantly boosts performance on the mountain while reducing the overall weight in comparison to rubber.

LOWA FLEX® Damit jede einzelne Öse flexibel ist, werden die Schnürteile, auf denen diese befestigt sind, einzeln angebracht. Diese sind aus weichen Bordürenledern oder Textilmaterialien gefertigt, um Druckstellen zu vermeiden. Durch die flexible Anordnung der Ösen ist eine Schnürung bis in den Zehenbereich problemlos möglich, ohne zu viel Druck an einzelnen Stellen zu generieren. Trotzdem wird die Zunge optimal eingefasst. To add flexibility to each eyelet, the lacing systems through which laces are threaded are installed separately. These sections are made of soft leather trim or textile materials that prevent pressure points from being created. Thanks to the flexible arrangement of the eyelets, the laces can easily be pulled all the way to the toe area without producing any excessive pressure on individual areas. But the tongue always maintains its optimal positioning.

FLEXFIT SYNCRO® Bei der FLEXFIT-SYNCRO®-Technologie handelt es sich um eine asymmetrische Schaftkonstruktion, durch die sich der Schaft des Schuhs „synchron“ zum Unterschenkel bewegt. Dadurch verbessert sich spürbar der Gehkomfort – speziell auf Pfaden und Wegen oder auf unwegsamem Gelände. Die Technologie trägt der Tatsache Rechnung, dass der Fußaufsatz nicht zentral unterhalb des Hüftgelenks passiert, sondern etwas weiter in der Mitte. The FLEXFIT SYNCRO® technology involves an asymmetrical upper design. It enables the boot’s upper to move “in sync” with the wearer’s lower leg. This feature significantly improves walking comfort – particularly on paths, trails or rough terrain. The technology focuses on a key aspect of walking: A person plants his or her foot not centrally under the hip, but rather somewhat farther in the middle.

The use of a single-section fabric upper eliminates stitching and, thus, friction and irritation. The result: Increased comfort.

2 ZONE LACING

Thanks to the dual-zone lacing system, the forefoot and upper have their own separately adjustable lacing zones. As a result, the boot can be individually adjusted to the foot’s anatomy.

C4-TONGUE Bei dieser speziellen Konstruktion der Schuhzunge wird der Tragekomfort merklich erhöht. So ist die Zunge zum Beispiel auf der Fußaußenseite dicker gepolstert und verfügt über einen weichen Abschluss am oberen Ende. Diese asymmetrische Polsterung sorgt für eine optimale Unterstützung in verschiedenen Fußbereichen. Zudem sind die Aussparungen für die Knöchelbereiche innen höher als außen sowie ein flexibler Beugeeinsatz auf der Fußinnenseite integriert, um der Anatomie der Füße Rechnung zu tragen. The specially designed boot tongue substantially enhances the comfort of the footwear. The tongue includes extra padding for the outer portion of the foot, and the upper end of it is especially soft. This asymmetrical padding provides optimal support to many areas of the foot. In response to the foot’s natural anatomy, the notches for the ankle area have been placed higher on the inside than on the outside. A flexible bending application has also been integrated into the inner part.

X-LACING®

FIT WING

Ein optimaler Sitz der Zunge, ohne Verrutschen und Druckstellen: Mit der X-LACING®-Technologie ist dies problemlos möglich. Durch die spezielle Schnürung wird die Zunge sowohl vertikal als auch horizontal fixiert. Die Schnürung ist dabei von der individuellen Höhe des Ristes unabhängig und damit für jeden Fuß bestens geeignet. Durch diese Schnürtechnologie wird der Druck der Bänder nicht mehr nur auf die Haken, sondern flächig auf die Zunge übertragen.

Damit der Schnürsenkel flexibel und geschmeidig durch die Ösen läuft, minimieren kleine Kugeln in den Metallschlaufen die Reibung.

Ein entscheidender Faktor für einen guten Fersensitz ist neben der Gestaltung der Schnürung der Fersenzug. Mit der FIT-WING-Technologie wird eine optimale Zugrichtung der Schnürsenkel erzeugt, die Ferse fixiert und eine optimale Passform gewährleistet.

Optimal positioning of the tongue, without any slippage or pressure points: This is what X-LACING® technology is all about. This special lacing system fixes the tongue both vertically and horizontally. The lacing system gains independence from the height of the instep as a result, making it perfect for any type of foot. In this technology, the pressure of the laces is borne not just by the hooks and is transferred to the tongue as well.

WATERPROOF ZIPPER

Laces need to run flexibly and smoothly through the eyelets. Small balls installed in the metal eyelets keep the friction created by the laces to a minimum.

Der wasserdichte Reißverschluss schützt vor Feuchtigkeit und Kälte auch in extremen Wettersituationen. The waterproof zipper keeps out moisture and cold even under extreme weather conditions.

ZIPPER I-LOCK Einfach festziehen und fixieren: Um die Schnürung zu vereinfachen, hat LOWA einen speziellen Klemmhaken entwickelt. Dieser erlaubt eine Schnürung in zwei Zonen. Nachdem im unteren Bereich des Schuhs die Schnürung festgezogen wurde, kann über diesen Klemmhaken der Senkel blockiert werden. Durch einfaches Nach-oben-Drücken des Hakenbügels löst sich die Klemmung und die Ristschnürung kann gelockert werden. Just pull tight and position in place: To simplify the job of tying boots, LOWA has developed a special type of locking clamping hooks. The special feature: The system allows for two different lacing zones. Once the laces have been pulled tight on the lower level, they can be locked in place with the help of the clamping hooks. The lock releases by snapping the hook brackets open. The instep laces can be adjusted.

Der Einbau eines Reißverschlusses bietet einen schnellen und zuverlässigen Ein- und Ausstieg in den Schuh. The use of a zipper enables wearers to easily and quickly slip their boots on and off.

SLINGSHOT

A decisive factor for good heel fit is the lacing system itself. An optimal tension is created using FIT WING technology, which positions the heel and creates a perfect fit.

FIT RIBBON Die minimalistische Schnürleiste schafft höchste Funktionalität bei maximaler Gewichtsreduktion. Die zwei direkt verwobenen Bänder sind leicht zu schnüren und der Senkel läuft optimal. Bei der Materialauswahl wurde ein besonderes Augenmerk auf die Haltbarkeit und Widerstandsfähigkeit der Bänder gelegt. The minimalistic lacing strip produces both the highest level of functionality and maximum weight reduction. The two directly interwoven laces are easy to tie and run optimally through the boot. In selecting the material, LOWA focused on the durability and toughness of the laces.

Um eine optimale Stabilität im Fersenbereich und eine starke Verbindung zwischen dem Vor- und Rückfuß zu erhalten, wird unter Zug ein spezieller Fersengummi angebracht. Dieser SLINGSHOT weist eine starke Rückstellkraft auf und sorgt für optimalen Halt und ein gutes Anpassungsvermögen.

Das innovative Boa® Fit System garantiert durch ein minimalistisches Drehsystem maximale Performance. Der Verschluss ist einfach und schnell zu bedienen und bietet ohne nachgezogen zu werden dauerhaften Komfort. Auch einhändig ist die Bedienung kein Problem.

To provide optimal stability to the heel and to maintain a strong link between the front and rear foot, a special form of heel rubber is attached using tension. This SLINGSHOT effect generates a powerful restoring force, creating optimal grip and excellent adaptability.

Bei der GORE-TEX-SURROUND®-Produkttechnologie müssen viele zweimal hinsehen: Löcher in der Sohle? Kann das noch wasserdicht sein? Die Antwort ist ganz klar „ja“. When it comes to GORE-TEX SURROUND® product technology, many people have to do a double take: Holes in the soles? Can this really be waterproof? The answer is a definite “yes”. Footwear that employs this technology is completely waterproof. The heart of this technology is the special design used under the foot. Because most sweat glands are located on the soles of people’s feet, the sole of the shoe is designed in such a way that warm air and sweat can flow downward through a membrane and into an open-celled spacer.
