As May comes to a close, there are 23 events taking place across the country this weekend, from motorkhanas to hill climbs, come and try days to social events. May participation sets a new record this year with 147 events conducted across every state and territory; a reflection of the strength of grassroots community motorsport.

So far this year Motorsport Australia permitted events tally 497, including two rounds each for the EROAD Australian Rally Championship and Shannons SpeedSeries and five rounds of the Repco Supercars Championship which attributes a staggering 488 events to our state and local clubdriven participation across the country.

Which leads me to National Volunteer Week and our volunteer officials community.

Motorsport doesn’t happen without the skill and dedication that the officials community bring to the sport - rain, hail or shine… and on some occasions, all three.

Across a nation where sporting volunteerism is in decline, the motorsport volunteer community has seen an increase of 28% over the past five years, with new officials joining the talented and passionate community.

As you read the following pages celebrating the many events across our nation, including the Winton Festival of Speed, the Noosa Winter Hill Climb, a Women’s Introduction to Motorsport event at Wanneroo and the NSW Road Racing Club’s 600 Regularity Relay, to name a few, remember that motorsport simply doesn’t exist without the work of our volunteer officials community that currently sits at more than 12,500 members.

In May, Motorsport Australia was pleased to welcome esports accessory designer and manufacturer Guillemot Corporation, through its gaming brand Thrustmaster, as an official partner.

Racing Together’s 2026 Open Day at Queensland Raceway, delivered a clear pathway for new Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander talent entering motorsport with five talented young Indigenous Australians drivers securing their place with Racing Together.

Further south, the Victorian Flagmarshalling Team approaches a significant 40year milestone to be formally celebrated on 4 July this year.

Importantly, this month we announced that your new Member Portal is on its way, with the promise of a better experience for everyone. This is a major transformation that will roll out in phases over the next two years. Phase One won’t fix everything at once, but it will deliver a meaningful step forward.

Designed in consultation with members, it delivers a simpler experience, faster licencing, easy digital profiles, and a single unified portal for all your information.

OFFICIALS B DDY PROGRAM EXPLAINED

Motorsport Australia’s Buddy Program takes place at National and International level events, offering experienced accredited Motorsport Australia officials the opportunity to partner with new and international officials during their first event.

From the Australian Grand Prix to Supercars events and more, it’s a program grounded in learning, development and community values.

Motorsport Australia Chief People Officer Nicky Lennon explains the purpose of assigning a buddy is to help welcome newcomers and reaffirm their decision to become a volunteer official.

A designated buddy can also act as a sounding board who offers encouragement to a new or international official, while they become familiar with the local events landscape and Australian culture, offering advice and guidance on the day-to-day aspects of officiating.

“This program offers benefits to the new/international official, the

buddy, Motorsport Australia, and event promoters,” Lennon said.

“It provides new and international officials with a reliable, motivated, single point-of-contact for their basic questions regarding their officiating experience at a Motorsport Australia permitted event.

“It also helps establish orientation as a process rather than a single learning event.”

Lennon notes the important difference between a buddy and mentor.

A mentor guides an official’s development and offers feedback about their career trajectory over a period.

A buddy is someone they will work with closely at their first event and who will help guide them through processes, tasks and other aspects of their first Motorsport Australia event experience.

The buddy can remain a go-to resource ongoing, but it is the role of mentor or senior official to oversee an individual’s development or performance.

Motorsport Australia also relies on feedback from its officials to continue improving its processes and procedures.

Lennon added the program is regularly evaluated to ensure it continues to meet the needs of all involved, and for the benefit of the entire sport.

“At events, the buddy will encourage feedback from officials participating in the program,” Lennon stated.

“At the conclusion of the event, they will meet with them to discuss their experiences, allowing the buddy to provide direct feedback to Motorsport Australia.”

Motorsport Australia prides itself on providing a welcoming environment for new officials at every level of the sport across the entire country.

QUEENSLAND RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP UNDERWAY AT GYMPIE

The 2026 Motorsport Australia Queensland Rally Championship (QRC) is officially underway following a competitive opening round at the Accent Benchtops Rally Queensland in Gympie.

Following the postponement of the Blackbutt Rally in March, the QRC made its long anticipated return in 2026.

Leading the 35 crews for the event were Andrew Carrigan and Liam Hinschen in the #32 Mitsubishi Magna with the pair only falling outside of the top five in two out of the 12 stages, outlining a consistent performance throughout the event.

Carrigan and Hinschen’s highlight of the weekend finally came on SS8, claiming their only stage win for the rally by one second, just ahead of P5 class competitors Kristian Sprenger and Jarrad Vanderhor. By the end, Carrigan and Hinschen closed out the event by 38 seconds, outlasting reigning State Champions Ian Menzies and Robert McGowan.

Menzies and McGowan had set the benchmark for the majority of the weekend, tallying six stage wins throughout the weekend, but a 21st-quickest time on SS7 had set the pair back substantially in their Toyota Yaris AP4 and were unable to complete the outright comeback - albeit still able to claim the class win.

Rounding out the outright podium were #16 Subaru Impreza WRX crew Nathan Stokes and Ian Wheeler, who remained composed to finish with a 100 per cent success rate of top 10 stage finishes to trail the runners-up by just under four minutes and two minutes ahead of Simon and Elysia Jansen.

Stokes and Wheeler claimed the P5 class win as a result, while the Jansens did the same in the P6 grouping. Other class winners included Mitchell and Brent Plant, securing P2 honours in their #48 Hyundai Excel for being fastest among the Junior competitors.

Keith Fackrell and Brad Jones excelled at the top of the Clubman category in their Ford Escort RS1800, meanwhile John Keen and Matt Spencer finished 16th outright to finish atop the P3 runners.

The attrition rate in Gympie was also on full display, as a total of 16 crews were unable to complete the rally, highlighting the level of difficulty the Gympie course has to offer.

The next round of the Queensland Rally Championship heads to Jimna for the Jimna Rally Sprint on 6 June.

VIC FLAG MARSHALS 40TH ANNIVERSARY

The Victorian Flagmarshalling Team will celebrate their 40th anniversary this July, marking not only a milestone in tenure, but the unwavering dedication of a volunteer community who power grassroots motorsport in Victoria.

In 1986, a group of flagmarshals got together and created a team dedicated to providing officials to motorsport activities in Victoria. These flaggies would go on to build the foundation of the Victorian Flagmarshalling Team (VFT) as we know it today.

Suzanne Arnott is the proud President of the Victorian Flagmarshalling Team and reflects on the humble beginnings of the VFT and her own thirty-year involvement.

“What began with around 30 passionate flaggies, has grown into a team of more than 170 skilled officials who work across every level of the sport, every weekend,” Arnott said.

“From its beginnings at Victorian circuits including Sandown, Winton, Phillip Island and Calder, the leadership of the Victorian Flagmarshalling Team steadily developed training processes to ensure trackside officials were highly skilled in their ability to clearly and effectively communicate with drivers, fellow flaggies and race control/clerk of the course.”

VFT members reach motorsport far and wide, including the iconic Bathurst 1000, the Adelaide 500 and the Australian Grand Prix, as well as the many club events that occur every weekend throughout the country.

The role of the VFT extends far beyond waving flags. Team members are responsible for communicating track conditions and safety warnings to drivers, assisting with incident response, operating radios, clearing hazards, and supporting race control during high-pressure situations.

“It’s been an amazing time since the four of us sat in a caravan at Winton Raceway having that discussion and commencing the journey of the VFT to what it is today.”

Roger has since been awarded a Victorian Flagmarshalling Team Life Membership in 1994. This followed a Motorsport Australia Service Award in 1990, being named the Australian Motorsport Official of the Year in 2017, and the FIA Outstanding Official of the Year 2017 and a Motorsport Australia Life Membership in 2025.

TO CELEBRATE THIS 40-YEAR MILESTONE, THE VICTORIAN FLAGMARSHALING TEAM INVITES MEMBERS, FORMER MEMBERS AND SUPPORTERS TO JOIN THE CELEBRATIONS

Through Motorsport Australia’s structured training pathways and on-the-job mentoring, the organisation has developed a reputation for professionalism, teamwork, and reliability.

Arnott commended the evolution of the VFT, both socially and culturally.

In addition to Roger, documents from the first VFT committee meeting also name key figures such as Keith Alexander as Vice President, Mike Stansbury as Secretary, Barry Petersen as Treasurer, along with representatives and officers including Paul Renn, Lance Jenner, Alan Krahe, Rod Gorphine, and other notable members such as Neil Thompson and Anne and Peter Davis.

“The club has placed increasing emphasis on inclusion and diversity within the club, with women’s participation reaching record levels in recent years. Female officials are just as likely to hold key operational and leadership roles as the guys.” Arnott said.

Motorsport Australia official Roger Chirnside was present, as President, at the first committee meeting on 30 July 1986, chaired by the late Neil Thompson.

“For some years before 1986, I always had a thought that we should have our own flagmarshalling group so, I discussed with three other likeminded marshals about the possibility of starting our own team - none of us really knowing how to bring this idea to fruition,” Chirnside said.

“After a rocky start, we finally gained sufficient support to establish what is today the Victorian Flagmarshalling Team Inc.

“Little did we realise way back then that this dream would actually happen.

Today, the Victorian Flagmarshalling Team remains a vital part of circuit racing in Victoria. As well as trackside flaggies and communicators you will find VFT members in marshalling, paddock, pitlane, starter’s box, race control and beyond.

Skilled volunteers continue to provide the expertise, discipline, and passion required to keep racing safe, fair and fun. All of this is supported by a strong sense of camaraderie that has been a core value of the club since its inception.

With growing participation, a great sense of mateship, and a focus on tr aining and skill development, the future is looking great for the club.

To celebrate this 40-year milestone, the Victorian Flagmarshaling Team invites members, former members and supporters to join the celebrations at 6:30pm AEST on 4 July.

The results highlight the strength and resilience of the organisation following strategic changes to the governing body’s operating model.

Motorsport Australia President Andrew Fraser welcomed the results ahead of tonight’s Member Forum which presents the outcomes for the previous year.

“To achieve 9% growth in participation year on year reinforces the changes we have made to licensing, including new single event categories to encourage new participation,” Fraser said.

“Looking ahead, it’s more important than ever before that we remain focused on supporting grassroots, club and state level motorsport through our clubs, members and officials.”

ABBY WINGETT GOODWOOD BOUND

Victorian resident Abby Wingett is chasing a once in a lifetime opportunity after receiving an invite to compete in the Goodwood Revival from 18-20 September.

Wingett stated she was incredibly excited and deeply grateful to have received the opportunity and is eager to make her way over to the United Kingdom.

“Goodwood Revival is one of the most iconic events in historic motorsport, known for bringing together a wide variety of historic cars and drivers, and showcasing the spirit of racing in a way truly unlike anything else,” Wingett said.

“For me, this is about more than just one event. It’s about everything it took to get back to this point, and proving to myself that all the hard moments were worth it.”

Two years ago, Abby had an unfortunate accident which broke her foot in six places, requiring two surgeries followed by a long recovery period.

Wingett first got involved at the age of 16, following in her family’s passion for motorsport. She instantly fell in love with the adrenaline and high speeds of motorsport doing hill climbs and sprints.

A short-track event at Winton Raceway fuelled her interest in circuit racing and Wingett joined the Victorian Historic Racing Register to get more involved.

After a few years competing, Wingett moved from a Midget Speedway Car to her current 1962 Elfin Formula Junior which scored her the invite to Goodwood Revival as part of the Formula Junior Association’s World Jubilee Tour.

“It’s the whole atmosphere of Goodwood that makes it so special, not just because of the cars that come in for the event, but because of the atmosphere generated from the patrons, it’s almost like a dream scene to be a part of,” Wingett added.

“As an event, it shows a real progression of where motorsport was to where it is now, and being part of it this year will be a real pinch-me moment.”

The Goodwood Revival is a festival held at Goodwood Circuit in the United Kingdom and features cars and motorcycles from the 1950s and 1960s.

NOOSA WINTER HILL CLIMB

TAKING PLACE ACROSS 12-14 JUNE AT GYNDIER DRIVE, TEWANTIN, THE NOOSA HILLCLIMB PROUDLY CELEBRATES ITS 29TH YEAR IN WHAT IS ONE OF QUEENSLAND’S MOST RESPECTED GRASSROOTS MOTORSPORT EVENTS.

Established in 1998, the event has evolved over nearly three decades from a small local meet- up into a nationally recognised celebration of motorsport heritage, driving skill, engineering excellence and community spirit.

Held on the scenic Gyndier Drive course at Tewantin in the Noosa Shire, the event brings to life the atmosphere of a classic motorsport festival combined with the excitement and professionalism of a sanctioned hill climb competition.

‘The Hill’ has earned a reputation as one of Australia’s most enjoyable and unique motorsport experiences, attracting competitors and spectators from across the country.

The Gyndier Drive course itself represents a challenging 1.5 kilometres of closed public road featuring 14 tight and undulating corners, elevation changes and demanding technical sections that

test both driver skill and vehicle performance. The unique character of the circuit, set within its natural bushland surroundings, has become one of the defining features of the Noosa Hillclimb and a major attraction for competitors and spectators alike.

Over the years, the Noosa Hillclimb has welcomed an extraordinary list of competitors and personalities from Australian motorsport. Legendary drivers and champions, including Dick Johnson, Kevin Bartlett, Glenn Seton, Broc Feeney, Ben Walsh, Fabian Gulhart, and Harri Jones, have all competed at or supported the event, underscoring its prestige and deep roots in Australian motorsport.

The event also proudly celebrates the contribution of women in motorsport and continues to encourage greater female participation both on and off the track. Female competitors, officials and volunteers have become an important part of the Hill’s identity

inclusive and welcoming environment for all competitors and spectators.

The Noosa Hillclimb stands as far more than a motorsport event; it is a proudly community- driven, not-for- profit tradition, powered entirely by the dedication of volunteers from the Noosa Beach Classic Car Club.

Every year, hundreds of volunteer hours flow into the Hill from club members, local community groups, emergency services personnel, Australian Defence Force veterans, and dedicated supporters who share a passion for motorsport and community spirit.

WOMEN’S INTRODUCTION TO ESPORTS PROGRAM

Motorsport Australia, in partnership with Full Send SimSport, is proud to launch an inspiring new pathway for women entering the world of esports.

Backed by the FIA, the free eight-week Women’s Introduction to Esports program is designed to open the doors to sim racing in a way that feels welcoming, confidence - building, and fun.

Kicking off on 29 June and concluding on 17 August, the program is built on a structured, beginner-friendly curriculum that helps women and girls develop real racing skills in a supportive, pressure -free environment.

Successful applicants will participate in an information night on 29 June with the first of eight weeks starting on the evening of Wednesday 1 July, guided by Full Send SimSport under the expert tuition of Australian racing driver, Caitlin Wood.

You can participate in this program using PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X or Series S, Windows PC or Windows Laptop, depending on which platform you prefer to use. No sim rigs are required, controllers are fully supported. The game title is to be announced closer to the event.

Across seven weeks of coaching, participants will slowly build their racecraft, with every session tailored to their experience level and equipment, whether they’re using a controller or a full sim rig.

That seven-weeks of learning culminates in a Week 8 Showcase where drivers come together online for friendly races, community connection, and a chance to see just how far they’ve come.

This program works well for new and developing drivers. It uses simple, level -appropriate drills, clear one - on - one guidance, and a supportive community so everyone can improve at a pace that feels right for them.

ENTRIES OPEN FOR WINTON FESTIVAL OF SPEED

The Winton Festival of Speed (WFOS26) will blend historic Australian motorsport and high-country culture with more than 300 historically significant race cars expected to attend this year’s event at Winton Raceway.

Taking place from 24-26 July, WFOS26 will showcase some of Australia’s most popular Australian Touring Cars such as Mustangs, Camaros, Toranas, classic sports cars and the newlyestablished Fitzy Cup Super Sprint. Categories at WFOS26 include Group N Historic Touring Cars [Under and Over 2-Litre], Heritage Touring Cars including Groups C & A, Group S Sports Cars, Formula Ford, MGs and Invited British, Alfa Romeo Racing, Porsche 944 Challenge and BMW E30 Racing.

Additionally, expanded supersprint classes have been determined with 5-Litre Touring Cars, V8Brutes, Auscars, GT Cars up to 2010, Touring Car Tributes and Touring Car Legends all on the invite list.

This goes hand-in-hand with the inaugural running of The Fitzy Cup, a Porsche-focused category celebrating the legacy of Peter Fitzgerald.

The Fitzy Cup invites Peter Fitzgerald built-and-raced Porsches from 1990 to 2010, as well as other race-spec Porsches of the same era, to join the maiden event.

The four-day festival opens with test and tuning sessions for competitors, before launching into three days of competitive action that will include Qualifying, Sprint and Race sessions for the 11 categories competing.

Saturday and Sunday sessions and races of WFOS26 will be broadcast live and free on Blend Line TV.

The Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour will return bigger and better in 2027, now with four days of international enduro action from 11-14 February.

Settled in its new mid-February slot on the global motorsport calendar, the new four-day schedule comes off the back of this year which saw the biggest grid in six years, and record attendance across the three days.

The expansion to four days will open opportunities for more ontrack activity, including paid testing for Bathurst 12 Hour competitors and a more immersive experience for fans and competitors alike –including a bigger and better Track to Town experience for the City of Bathurst and visitors alike to enjoy.

WILL BROWNLEE KANGAN INSTITUTE STUDENT SECURES WALKINSHAW APPRENTICESHIP

Kangan Institute’s Automotive Student of the Year: Motorsport student Will Brownlee has taken the next step in his motorsport journey, but not in the driver’s seat.

Will has turned a lifelong passion for fast cars into a bright career, securing an apprenticeship with Walkinshaw TWG Racing – one of Australia’s most respected racing organisations.

Brownlee grew up trackside, attending the Formula 1 in Melbourne as well as local car meets. Motorsport always felt exciting to Will, but out of reach.

After finishing school and working casual jobs, Brownlee made use of the automotive programs at Kangan Institute and found not only technical training but a strong support network.

“They’ve always been there with guidance and feedback. I’ve felt included from day one.”

Landing an apprenticeship with Walkinshaw has been a defining milestone for Will.

PEDDERS RALLY TEAM DUO SCOTT PEDDER AND GLENN MACNEALL HAVE WON THEIR FIRST EROAD AUSTRALIAN RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP (ARC) ROUND SINCE 2024, SECURING VICTORY AT THE 2026 ARC PLANT HIRE FOREST RALLY.

With victory in Saturday’s first heat, and a third place finish in Sunday’s second heat, Pedder and Macneall won the weekend with 85 points. Just five points behind were runners up Lewis Bates and Anthony McLoughlin, who led home fellow teammates Harry Bates and Coral Taylor to round out the overall podium.

Lewis Bates won his third Power Stage of the season, securing Saturday and Sunday stage wins in Western Australia, and narrowly finishing runner-up in both heats. Harry Bates made up for his Saturday misfortune, where he dropped to sixth after Saturday’s Power Stage, to win Sunday’s heat.

“It’s one of those sports where, when you think you can just cruise home and you’re looking pretty handy, something happens. We got a flat tyre on the second or third corner into the long stage, and I don’t think I’ve ever driven so fast on a flat tyre before,” Pedder said.

“We knew we probably needed to finish third or fourth today, but

the car’s not sounding fantastically healthy at the moment. There are a few noises in there, so it’s going to need some work before Narooma after driving that far on a flat tyre.”

Pedder and Macneall also became the oldest pairing to win a round of the ARC, with a combined age of 102 between the pairing - demonstrating that experience and wisdom can still triumph over youth and exuberance.

“Full credit to the Maximum Motorsport team because they’ve done a lot of work. It’s also great to become the oldest Australian Rally Championship winner of all time, so that’s pretty cool.

“It’s all about maximising points and never giving up. This sport is all about strategy, and Glenn and the guys did a fantastic job today telling me how fast to go – not what to do.

Amongst a field of faster Rally2 and AP4 machinery, the fourth place of Dakar Rally legend Toby Price and Western Australian co-driver Ben Searcy were one of the standout performances aboard their Subaru WRX Challenge car. The pair also

secured WOLF Cup honours over fellow WRX Challenge driver and Junior Cup winner Riley Walters, and the Subaru of Keith Hamilton.

Ronan Sharkey and John Harkin clinched Classic Cup honours aboard their Subaru WRX, and David Smith and Rodger Pederson the leading 2WD Cup runner in their Ford Fiesta.

Of the local runners, Craig Rando was the top WA driver for the weekend alongside co-driver Scott Beckwith with fifth overall aboard their Toyota Yaris AP4.

It was a weekend of attrition for some of the returnees of the ARC, with the likes of Tom Kristensson, Richie Dalton, Troy Dowel, Alex Rullo, and Peter Rullo, to name a few, encountering a mix of punctures, mechanical issues, and crashes at the front of the field.

Next on the EROAD Australian Rally Championship tour is the all-new Toyota Gazoo Racing Narooma Forest Rally on 26–28 June in New South Wales.

Racing Together’s 2026 Open Day at Queensland Raceway delivered strong engagement and a clear pathway for new Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander talent entering motorsport.

Held in April, the Racing Together Open Day brought together 68 First Nations boys and girls for an eight- hour, hands- on motorsport program.

Racing Together Founder Garry Connelly was proud of the day which served as a reminder for why Racing Together exists.

“Our goal has always been simple - to open the door to motorsport for young Indigenous Australians. Days like this show just how much talent and enthusiasm is waiting to be discovered.” Connelly said.

Participants rotated through six activities that included driving assessments with Norwell Motorplex coaches in Toyota 86 vehicles, along with simulator testing, fitness and cognitive evaluations conducted by Focus Driver Performance, plus sessions focused on mechanical skills as well as first aid and nutrition education.

FOR MANY PEOPLE, A MOTORKHANA IS THEIR FIRST TASTE OF MOTORSPORT.

A timed-based discipline in motorsport, motorkhanas are a test of precision, accuracy and car control rather than outright speed alone, and caters to competitors as young as 12 years old.

First and foremost, a motorkhana consists of a series of low speed tests.

A test consists of a prescribed route around a series of cones – sometimes simple, sometimes complex – starting in ‘garages’ outlined by more cones.

Each test is conducted in a compact space, fitting within an area of 100m x 50m, and at low speed. Subsequently, most tests are completed in first gear, though reverse may also be required.

The fastest combined time after all tests are completed is the winner. However, competitors must be careful not to accrue time penalties by hitting cones, failing to stop

in the garage properly or not completing the course in the prescribed order and more.

Elite skills in motorkhana require pace and precision - and the patience to build both.

Virtually any car is suitable for a motorkhana event, and up to four drivers can share the same car which makes it a fun and easy way to get involved with friends.

Entry costs are low and the fun factor is high.

To get started, you’ll need to obtain a Motorsport Australia licence and sign up as a member of an affiliated club.

Alternatively, you can select a Single Event Auto Test Licence to have a go with less cost (just $45) and less admin.

Safety is Motorsport Australia’s number one priority and event-specific safety requirements will be available through your club upon registration.

MOTORMALL WANNEROO RACEWAY HOSTED A MOTORSPORT AUSTRALIA WOMEN’S INTRODUCTION TO MOTORSPORT EVENT IN APRIL, PROVIDING WESTERN AUSTRALIAN-BASED WOMEN WITH THEIR FIRST TASTE OF MOTORSPORT IN A FUN AND RELAXED ENVIRONMENT.

The day’s program, presented by the WA Sporting Car Club and in partnership with Motorsport Australia, provided an entry point for women looking to get behind the wheel and build confidence in a structured and supportive environment.

The program is designed to create an easy and structured entry into motorsport and offers participants of all experience levels the opportunity to learn and gain confidence behind the wheel.

The day opened with a guided theory session, where participants were introduced to key concepts including driving position, vehicle dynamics, braking techniques, and car control.

Participants then worked through a series of exercises including braking drills, slalom courses, and motorkhana activities with noticeable improvements shown by all participants throughout the day.

A standout element of the event was the dedication of the volunteer “buddies,” a group drawn from across the motorsport community from Formula Vee and Toyota 86 Series competitors to Improved Production Cars and seasoned event officials. Their diverse experience created a supportive, knowledgeable environment for every participant.

The event concluded with competitive motorkhana runs, allowing participants to put their new skills into practice in a fun and engaging way.

Strong engagement and enthusiasm - as well as fun and laughter - throughout the day reinforced the importance of Women’s Introduction to Motorsport.

In partnership with clubs throughout the country, Motorsport Australia remains committed to expanding opportunities that elevate female participation at every level of the sport.

CLUBHILL CLIMB CHAMPIONSHIP TO RETURN TO JACK’S HILL

Australia’s top hill climb competitors will converge on Western Australia this spring, with the Motorsport Australia Hill Climb Championship to take place at Jack’s Hill, located within MotorMall Wanneroo Raceway, from 30-31 October.

Hosted by the WA Sporting Car Club (WASSC), the event brings the country’s premier hill climb event to one of Australia’s most technically demanding and historic venues.

Sanctioned by Motorsport Australia, the championship will feature a diverse field of competitors across multiple classes, from highly modified specials to production-based machines.

Drivers will tackle the tight, flowing layout of Jack’s Hill, where precision and mechanical grip are critical, in contrast to high speeds.

Motorsport Australia State and Competition Racing Manager Bruce Astbury is excited to see the national championship return to Australia’s western-most state.

“It’s fantastic to see the Motorsport Australia Hill Climb Championship return to Western Australia and to a venue as iconic and technically demanding as Jack’s Hill,” Astbury said.

With a mix of elevation changes and technical corners, the course offers a true showcase of driver skill and specifically caters to the difficulty expected from experienced hill climb competitors.

The return of a national-level hill climb event to Western Australia highlights a historic moment for the state’s motorsport landscape, with Jack’s Hill hosting the annual event for the first time since 2015, won by Australian hill climb legend Malcolm Oastler (his second of five championship wins).

WASSC President Russell Sewell states the club is one of Australia’s oldest and most respected motorsport organisations, boasting a proud history of hosting major events at Wanneroo Raceway.

Supercars action on the Apple Isle did not disappoint as the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship battle hit full pace at Tasmania’s Symmons Plains Raceway.

What a difference a weekend in Tassie makes.

Heading into the Tyrepower Tasmania Super 440 it was Broc Feeney ahead of Brodie Kostecki by just 23 points, with Matt Payne in hot pursuit in third.

The storied Symmons Plains Raceway played host to Races 14, 15 and 16 of the 2026 season and after 440km of hard-fought racing, Broc Feeney retains top spot and extends his points tally to 1211, Matt Payne sits on 1121 and Brodie Kostecki 1038.

On Friday David Reynolds set the fastest time in an actionpacked first practice at the Tyrepower Tasmania Super 440. Through 25 interrupted minutes of practice, Reynolds emerged fastest of all, and by an impressive margin. Reynolds beat Brodie Kostecki by 0.13s at the 2.4km Launceston circuit, with Anton De Pasquale placing both Team 18 Camaros in the top three.

Practice 2 would see Brodie Kostecki and Matt Payne all-butequal at Symmons Plains with only 0.0098s to separate the Repco Sprint Cup contenders at the end of 25 minute Practice 2. PremiAir Racing rookie Jayden Ojeda impressed with a third fastest lap of 0:50.985. Anton De Pasquale and Practice 1 pacesetter David Reynolds immediately went back to the top for Team 18, however Matt Payne quickly usurped them on a 51.4678s.

In Saturday’s Race 14 Chaz Mostert converted pole position into his first win of the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship. The reigning champion put on a stellar drive in the 100th Gen3 race, putting the drama of Christchurch behind him.

David Reynolds claimed a much-needed first podium of the season in second, with Brodie Kostecki defeating title rival and points leader Broc Feeney for the final spot on the Race 14 podium.

In Race 15 it was Andre Heimgartner’s time, the Kiwi claimed his third career win. Heimgartner converted his pole position off the start to claim his and Brad Jones Racing’s first win since Taupō 2024, and the first win with Toyota for both parties.

Heimgartner fended off early advances from championship leader Broc Feeney, who was able to substantially grow his points lead after a tough race for Brodie Kostecki which saw David Reynolds locked up and speared into the back of Kostecki at Turn 4, the damage was rectified in a costly pit stop, that saw him finish last.

As the weekend drew to a close, Broc Feeney stamped his authority on the Repco Sprint Cup with a crushing Race 16 win at the Tyrepower Tasmania Super 440, while Brodie Kostecki’s Sprint Cup hopes took a major hit.

Feeney led the 84-lap finale, lapping every car from 15th back and more than seven seconds up the road from Matt Payne in second and Kai Allen third. Stamping his dominance, Feeney broke the lap record on lap 75 with a 51.3537s.

An ill-timed safety car provided a shake-up of results in Monochrome GT4 Australia.

Summer Rintoule became the first woman to ever win a Monochrome GT4 Australia race, as she and Jarrod Hughes finally secured victory in Silver Cup after a year and a half of trying.

Having switched to Method Motorsport and the McLaren Artura GT4 in the off-season, the popular duo only had to wait four races into the season to notch up their first victory thanks to a smart strategy and some lady luck going their way.

Ryder Quinn was rewarded for his rapid final stint to win Silver-Am steering the Thunder Buddies Racing BMW M4 G82 GT4 Evo alongside Steve Jakic.

PORSCHE MICHELIN SPRINT CHALLENGE

Sonic drivers Xavier Avramides and Hayden Haikel took their maiden victories across Saturday’s two races

Avramides took the win in the opening race held in wet conditions, but the hard luck story was McElrea Racing’s Karl Mrad after he led for most of the event until making a mistake to drop to third by the finish.

Just one race on Sunday for Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge, but it was the 45-minute endurance event.

Josh Anderson backed up his Saturday performance by winning the Ambrose Cup component of Round 2.

Anderson made a great start and was able to build an advantage ahead of Jack Perkins to score his second victory of the weekend.

Third at the end was maiden pole-sitter Joe Fawcett as John Goodacre took the Dark Horse Legends category.

It was a tale of redemption in Ferrari Challenge Australasia with Steve Wyatt scoring victory and making up for his last-lap defeat the previous day.

A last lap pass gave Damian Hamilton the win in the opening race on Saturday after lapped traffic worked in his favour.

Wyatt won the Trofeo Pirelli class ahead of Enzo Cheng and Jim Pollicina.

Coppa Shell welcomed a new winner in Andrew Cogan, with Masahiro Taguchi and Aemel Nordin rounding out the podium.

Ross Tomain made it four Trofeo Pirelli 488 victories in-a-row by defeating Stephen Coe in the finale.

The Shannons SpeedSeries now moves onto the LIQUI MOLY GT Festival Queensland Raceway on June 12-14.

The 2026 NSWRRC 600 Regularity Relay marks a decadelong milestone for the popular endurance event

Organised by the NSW Road Racing Club, the event will take place on 27–28 June at Sydney Motorsport Park - again featuring as a highlight on the grassroots motorsport calendar.

The 2026 event marks the 10th anniversary of the relay, and will feature a unique format change.

For this year only, the traditional six-hour format expands into a 10-hour endurance contest, split across two days to deliver a total of 600 minutes of racing.

The opening four hours of the endurance event will run under lights on Saturday evening, before teams return to complete the remaining six hours on Sunday. Practice and passenger rides will be held earlier on Saturday.

NSWRRC President Dean Steward told Motorsport Australia the events growth in popularity and reputation is the result of collective effort from club members and the wider community.

“A lot of work has gone into this event over the years, particularly from expresident Kerry Butchers OAM, who is sadly no longer with us,” Steward said.

“Apart from being a great event to attend as a spectator, it’s most enjoyable for all the pit crews as well. There’s a lot of camaraderie at the event, and it’s a major reason why the

teams love coming back. They love working together as a team to achieve success.

“They work together to get improve their results each year, lots of teams come from interstate, and we put them together in the few garages, so they can spend time together.

“The 10th year of this event will be a special one, without a doubt.”

Run on the Gardner (GP) circuit configuration, the event is open to a wide range of vehicles, including road-registered cars.

Drivers must also demonstrate suitable motorsport experience, ensuring a competitive yet accessible environment for club-level competitors. All drivers are required to have a minimum of a Motorsport Australia Speed Licence.

The NSWRRC 600 Regularity Relay has built a respected reputation for its team-based format, consistency and cooperation in facilitating the event.

Teams typically consist of multiple drivers (three to six drivers) sharing one or more cars, aiming to match nominated lap times rather than outright speed.

Organisers also note strong interstate participation and a focus on camaraderie within the paddock.
