For AMX, we’ve always lived and breathed motocross. The FIM Women's Motocross World Championship adds another dimension to the weekend, with the 2026 WMX world title also on the line in Darwin. Women's motocross
is one of the fastest growing categories in the sport right now, and the racing has been fierce all season. The opening WMX race takes place on Saturday, before Sunday delivers the final race and crowns the 2026 FIM Women's Motocross World Champion in front of the Hidden Valley crowd. Darwin is where it all gets decided.
Australian wildcard riders are expected to line up against the global elite across all three international classes, racing on home soil, in front of a home crowd, with everything on the line. These are the moments that define careers. The local riders who earn a wildcard berth aren't just making up the numbers, they're representing every Australian who has ever thrown a leg over a bike and dreamed bigger. Wildcard selections are still to be announced, but when that list drops, you'll want to be in Darwin to see them do it for real.

Beaton weaves more ProMX magic as he extends championship lead!
Yamaha star Jed Beaton has produced another imperious display in round five of the 2026 Penrite ProMX Championship presented by AMX Superstores (ProMX), this time in extremely heavy and choppy conditions at Appin on June 14.
On a wet day which tested the mental and physical endurance of riders, as well as pushing bikes to the absolute limit, Beaton checked out in both Kawasaki MX1 motos to claim the spoils ahead of Monster Energy CDR Yamaha teammate Aaron Tanti and Nathan Crawford (MotoCoach Elite Racing Honda). Beaton also dominated Superpole and set two fastest laps as he put on a motocross masterclass.
With defending champion Kyle Webster (Honda Racing Australia) scoring 4-4 finishes, clearly hampered by a shoulder complaint after crashing in a recent American Pro Motocross round, Beaton now has a vice-like grip on the MX1 standings with three rounds remaining.
Beaton’s 54pts (245 to 191) ahead of Webster, while Tanti (190pts) is now putting the squeeze on Webster as well.
In the other championship classes, Alex Larwood (Honda Racing Australia) extended his Pirelli MX2 lead over teammate Kayd
Kingsford by the barest of margins – from nine to 10pts – while Hayden Draper (Monster Energy WBR Yamaha) now has a new pursuer in Maxxis MX3 – Heath Fisher (Honda Racing Australia).
Ryder Madafiglio (Husqvarna) and Hudson Francis (Yamaha) again set the standard in the KTM Group MX65 Futures class, in what was an exceptionally challenging day for the pint-sized brigade.
KAWASAKI MX1
Honda dominated the Kawasaki MX1 pre-race headlines thanks to Webster’s injury cloud and communication from the factory team that Wilson Todd was going to be sidelined indefinitely “to prioritise his long-term health and wellbeing”.
That immediately altered the Appin dynamics, but for Beaton it was all about opportunity. And he duly obliged as he broke ranks and waltzed to his fourth clean sweep in five rounds to strengthen his claims on winning a maiden MX1 title.
“I’m super happy for the team this weekend with a 1-2 finish,” said Beaton. “It was a tough track out there, and I was just trying to find those lines to allow me to get into a flow and stay smooth. I was just trying to find some clean lines and ride my own race.”
The field stretched out in both motos as the challenging conditions made their presence felt, with only seven riders completing the same number of laps as Beaton in the opener and 10 in in the second.
With Tanti and Crawford safely ensconced in second and third, Webster edged out Zachary Watson (KTM Factory Racing), Todd Waters (Raceline Husqvarna TDUB Racing) and Ryan Alexanderson (Penrite Kawasaki) in moto one, with Rhys Budd (MotoCoach Elite Racing Honda) – now a permanent fixture in MX1 after moving up from MX2 – eighth.
Budd then upped the ante in the second moto to finish fifth, ahead of Alexanderson, Watson and Levi Rogers (Caloundra Motorcycle Centre Yamaha).
Crawford (149pts) has moved up to equal fourth in the standings alongside Waters, and then it’s Watson (142pts), Todd (128pts) and Luke Zielinski (Yamaha, 122pts).
PIRELLI MX2
APPIN ROUND FIVE WRAP
The Pirelli MX2 riders undoubtedly copped some of the heaviest track conditions in their opening moto, which saw reigning No. 3 Noah Ferguson (Monster Energy Yamalube Yamaha) overtake early leader Kayd Kingsford to score a runaway victory.
Larwood, Ryder Kingsford (Honda Racing Australia), Byron Dennis (KTM Factory Racing) and Seth Burchell (Monster Energy WBR Yamaha) were next – Burchell the first to be lapped by Ferguson – as attrition hit hard, but in the second moto conditions were a little more benign.
That was a cue for the moto of the day, as Kayd Kingsford gained the early ascendancy and was on track for his second win of the year before Larwood’s stirring charge from seventh saw him take the honours – a result that could prove to be pivotal come season’s end.
Meanwhile, Ferguson was as high as second before mid-moto difficulties saw him drop back to seventh, with privateer Reid Taylor (Honda) an excellent third from Ryder Kingsford, Dylan Walsh (KTM Factory Racing) and Dennis.
The MX2 standings remain very tight, with Larwood (209pts) ahead of Kayd Kingsford (199pts), Dennis (182pts), Walsh (173pts), Ferguson (163pts) and Ryder Kingsford (163pts).
MAXXIS MX3
A red-letter day for Jackson Fuller (KTM Factory Racing) in Maxxis MX3 as he won his first moto of the season as well as claiming round honours.
Fuller’s 1-4 scorecard saw him edge out Fisher (3-2) and Hayden Downie (Team XLR Yamaha, 5-1), while Riley Burgess (Boyd’s Moto Racing KTM) and Draper also finished on the Appin podium.
Round five produced two sizzling finishes. Fuller defeated Burgess by just over one second in the opener, and then Downie had just 0.441 seconds to spare over Fisher in a moto two blockbuster.
Other riders to feature inside the top 10 across both motos were Seth Thomas (GASGAS Australia, 8-6), Jobe Dunne (Yamaha, 9-9) and Seth Morrow (Honda, 10-7). Max Compton (Honda) also won plaudits with a fine fourth in moto one.
With Draper (209pts) still in control, Fisher (179pts) did enough at Appin to slip past Burgess (177pts), but it’s a logjammed battle for second with Fuller (171pts and Downie (158pts) also prominent.
KTM GROUP MX65 FUTURES
It was a hard slog to maintain momentum for the KTM Group MX65 Futures cohort, but the cream again rose to the top as Madafiglio and Francis traded first and second places, while Joe Thurlby (KTM) was third on both occasions. Thurlby crossed the finish line first in moto one, but was then relegated two positions for gaining an off-track advantage.
Cooper Nilsson (KTM) and Stella Harding (Yamaha) were fourth and fifth in moto one, and in the second Ollie Cale (KTM) and Miles Ardern (Husqvarna) stepped up.
Madafiglio maintains a 9pt (94 to 85) lead over Francis with one round remaining (at QMP on August 1-2), while it’s tightening between Cale (74pts) and Thurlby (72pts).

WELCOME TO TRARALGON MOTORCYCLE CLUB AT LOY YANG PARK
Traralgon Motorcycle Club (TMCC) has proudly supported motorcycle sport in the local area for almost 48 years. Based at Loy Yang Park, the club has around 200 members and has enjoyed the use of its current site through the generous support of AGL.
The main motocross track has seen many transformations. From the well-known layout that once ran up and down the hill until the early 2000s, the track has continued to evolve into the current layout, which has been in place for around six years.
The club also caters for developing riders, with a Junior Pee-Wee track for young learners and a slightly more advanced junior track for riders stepping up from 50cc and 65cc classes.
TMCC also has a 4km bush loop, which is used for club events.
Over the years, TMCC has hosted and supported regional, state and national-level motocross, off-road and enduro events. The list includes the Australian Motocross Championship, Thumper Nats, Australian Four Day Enduro and 1998 International Six Days Enduro.
Today, TMCC continues to run a busy calendar of club practice days, Gippsland motocross events, state-level motocross, Vipers events and Victorian Off Road rounds.
The club runs mid-week practice nights, open ride days, junior open days and the popular Off Road Poker Run. TMCC has also helped produce many successful riders who have achieved strong results at regional, state and national levels in both motocross and off-road competition.
The club facilities have grown significantly over time, from a collection of shipping containers used for storage to the current facilities, which include the canteen, meeting room and event first-aid medical room. The latest development includes a new toilet and shower block attached to the club’s new machinery storage area.

MX1 CLASS
The Kawasaki MX1 class is the top category in ProMX, where the top factory-backed teams and riders compete, representing all the major Japanese and European manufacturers on latest state-of-the-art 450cc four-strokes – including Italian marque Beta for the first time.
In Kawasaki MX1, you’ll get to see the best riders in the nation and international stars who may make a one-off appearance or compete in the entire championship. This only serves to elevate the level of competition and add even more star power.
Leading the 2026 charge in Kawasaki MX1 is two-time defending champion and Motocross of Nations winner Kyle Webster (Honda), who has been pushed to the limit by Jed Beaton (Yamaha) since 2024.
Beaton’s 2025 season was ultimately cut short by injury, as he dropped back to fourth behind Nathan Crawford (KTM) and Wilson Todd (Honda).
The leading quartet all returns in 2026, and will be joined on the MX1 starting gates by multiple champion Dean Ferris (Kawasaki), Todd Waters, 2023 champion Aaron Tanti (Yamaha), Zachary Watson (KTM), Cody O’Loan (Beta) and Bryce Ognenis (Yamaha), as well as a new generation of young guns eager to show their skills in the premier category.

In 2025 the ProMX Championship will welcome back the hotly contested Pirelli MX2 class, a stepping stone for young riders on the path to professional racing. This class allows riders as young as 15 to compete on machines ranging from 122-250cc: the perfect place for young talent to showcase their skills and make their mark.

MX3 CLASS
The Maxxis MX3 class is the stepping stone for juniors to advance to the senior ranks of nationallevel racing. It caters for riders aged 14-U18 who can race on machines with a capacity ranging from 122150cc two-stroke and 200-250cc four-stroke.
This class also offers exceptional riders the chance to move up early to the Pirelli MX2 class at 15, aligning with international age groupings.
The Maxxis MX3 serves as an entry point for both privateer racers and manufacturer-backed team riders to learn the ropes of professional racing and get accustomed to the style of racing, schedules, and track conditions.
The objective of this development class is to equip riders with the skills and knowledge needed to make a smooth transition and embark on a successful career in the MX2 class.

MXW CHAMPIONSHIP
The Ezilift MXW class is the premier women’s motocross competition in Australia. With participants who are at least 15 years old and riding on machines of 125cc or higher, MXW has produced many talented champions who have also made their mark internationally, including Charli Cannon, Meghan Rutledge, Maddy Brown, Emma Milesevic, Jess Moore and Danielle McDonald.
The 2026 MXW championship promises to be highly competitive, which includes the return of reigning champion Cannon who will be put under the blowtorch by reigning American champion Lachlan Turner (Yamaha) making her full-time debut.
After breezing through the last four MXW championships, Cannon’s battle with Turner carries huge anticipation –with the duo then set to continue the budding rivalry in the 2026 American title.
Then there’s the other ProMX regulars such as Taylah McCutcheon (Kawasaki), Taylor Thompson (KTM), New Zealander Karaitiana Horne (Kawasaki), Madi Simpson (Yamaha), Dari Whalley (Honda), Mia Tongue (Honda), Leah Rimbas (KTM) and Emily Lambert (GASGAS).
Recent MXW initiatives such as the popular track walk will also continue in 2026, which especially benefits those who are competing in the top class for the first time.

PROMX CHAMPIONSHIP TELEVISION PACKAGE FOR 2026
Penrite ProMX Championship presented by AMX Superstores (ProMX) fans won’t miss a minute of the action in 2026 with SBS to continue as the official broadcast partner of ProMX.
ProMX will again enjoy live free-to-air coverage on SBS and streaming platform SBS On Demand across all eight rounds of the 2026 ProMX Championship.
SBS On Demand allows viewers to tune into ProMX live on mobile devices, smart TVs and browsers, with catchup viewing available for those who miss the live coverage.

YELLOW FLAG
• Stationary on opening lap- no jumping permitted
• Stationary
• Waved Great danger, prepare to stop, no overtaking. A significant reduction in speed must be observed; therefore, jumps should not be attempted. (The waved yellow flag is superior to the stationary yellow flag)
BLUE FLAG
Waved - flag indicate a rider that they are about to be overtaken.
CHEQUERED FLAG
Waved - race or practice session is over.
BLACK FLAG
Riders whose number is shown with the flag must stop at the pits on the next lap.
RED FLAG
Waved - race or practice interrupted. Riders must return to the pits.
WHITE FLAG, RED CROSS FLAG - WAVED
Medical team is on track, procede with extreme caution, rider must roll each obstacle, no jumping, no overtaking
GREEN FLAG
The track is clear.
WHITE FLAG
Waved – slow moving intervention vehicle on track
LAST LAP BOARD
Indicates last lap of the race is about to commence
