The 2026-2027 ASBK summer calendar will span six rounds from October 2026 to March 2027, so it’s certainly going to be a huge 12 months for the ASBK paddock.

This is one of the biggest weekends on our events calendar, and we are proud to host it here at Morgan Park Raceway. Adding to the excitement of this round, Morgan Park represents the secondlast round of the 2026 championship.
The Australian Superbike Championship delivers some of the most thrilling motorsport in the country to bring together elite riders, worldclass bikes and an electric atmosphere best experienced trackside. WHAT IS AN ASBK-SPEC SUPERBIKE?
The Australian Superbike Championship SW-Motech Superbike class features bikes that are not only fast, spectacular and sound amazing but are also easily accessible to the general public as they are very similar to those available for purchase off the showroom floor.
Engine capacities and minimum weights for ASBK machines are capped at 1000cc and 168kg for four-cylinder machines, and 1300cc and 172kg for two- and three-cylinder configurations.
While engine modifications for race versions are limited, Yamaha Racing Team manager, John Redding, says the engine is not a primary focus for performance gains in the Superbike class.
“To get a performance improvement of 10 per cent over the standard output is about as much as you can expect,” he said. “You can increase the compression ratio, fine-tune the degrees on the valve seats and adjust the cam timing for different tracks, but that’s about it.
“One of the advantages of keeping the engines relatively standard is they are cheap to maintain and last a while between rebuilds.”
With the engine and gearbox both close to standard, teams have turned to other aspects of Superbikes to improve their performance.
“Suspension has been a major area of development on the race-spec bikes,” Redding said. “The suspension on a street bike is compromised for ride comfort, but on a racetrack comfort isn’t a factor – it’s all about optimising the handling and corner speeds.
“Compared to the street version of the bike, the race bike will have different shock absorbers and fork internals, providing a much more adjustable setup.”
In recent years, significant innovation has taken place in the electronic systems of race bikes. These systems have been adapted to provide functions such as fuelling, traction control, engine braking and antiwheelie control.
There’s little doubt that electronics have provided both the biggest challenge – and opportunity – to teams and riders.
“Electronics are one of the most important areas of development and something that has become a critical factor in determining the speed that can be achieved by different bikes,” Redding said. “There are significant advantages to be gained in having the best electronic set-up.”
The brakes on racing bikes are also upgraded, with items such as the master cylinder, brake lines, pads and discs all being replaced with race-specific items.
“In a race situation, maximum stopping power is a priority, but brake wear is much less of a consideration than it would be on a road bike because components can be changed after every session,” Redding said.
According to Redding, the bikes competing in the Penrite Australian Superbike Championship, presented by Pirelli, are more similar to road bikes than those in other Superbike championships globally.
“The permitted modifications are much more limited here in Australia, which has the advantage of containing costs,” Redding said.
Despite the limited modifications allowed for Aussie-spec Superbikes, they still punch above their weight. At Phillip Island, for example, Harrison Voight’s lap record is 1:30.790, which isn’t far behind the World Superbike benchmark of 1:28.564.
Not bad for a lightly modified road bike!

LAST TIME OUT
Cameron Dunker and Josh Waters snared the race wins during an electrifying round three of the 2026 Penrite Australian Superbike Championship presented by Pirelli (ASBK) at The Bend from May 1-3.
After six previous podiums in the SW-Motech Superbike class, the gifted 18-year-old Dunker (Blue Marlin Pools Yamaha) finally reached the summit after victory in race one, while defending champion Waters (McMartin Racing Ducati) rebounded superbly from a disappointing opener to score a runaway win in the second 11-lapper.
After a sodden Saturday at The Bend, Sunday’s Superbike racing was held on a dry track – but the conditions were still far from benign with gusty cross winds keeping riders on high alert.
Existing lap records may not have been threatened, but the racing was still exceptional as Ducati pair Cru Halliday (Stop and Seal) and Glenn Allerton (Superbike Advocates Racing) flashed across the line on the bumper of Dunker in race one, while Harrison Voight (McMartin Racing Ducati) and the fast-finishing Jonathan Nahlous (Yamaha Racing Team) joined Waters on the podium in race two.
With seven of 11 races completed in the 2026 championship, it’s still a tight battle with Voight holding an 11pt (147 to 136) lead over Waters, followed by Jacob Roulstone (Motocity Honda, 124pts), Dunker (113pts), Halliday (108pts) and Allerton (103pts).
A maximum of 102pts are still available in the final two rounds at Morgan Park Raceway (May 29-31) and Queensland Raceway (June 26-28) as the championship concludes in the Sunshine State.
SW-MOTECH SUPERBIKE
A long period of sublime weather in the southern states was snapped on Saturday afternoon as the heavens opened, and it was Waters who made the most of the conditions with his 21st Superbike pole position ahead of Voight, Dunker, Jones, Nahlous and Allerton.
Roulstone and Anthony West (DesmoSport Ducati) both crashed in qualifying, with the former finishing a lowly 13th while West hurt his right hand and opted to sit out Sunday. He was replaced on the Panigale V4 R by regular DesmoSport Ducati Supersport rider Olly Simpson.
Race one on Sunday morning saw Voight lead from Waters in the first half before Halliday and then Dunker took over the running from the defending champion.
Heading into the final lap, Voight could almost taste a fourth win of the season before he ran wide at turn one – an opening which Dunker, Halliday and Allerton gratefully accepted.
Dunker then held his composure on the final lap to win his first Superbike race from lap record holder Halliday, Allerton, Voight, Nahlous, Mike Jones (Yamaha Racing Team), Waters and Roulstone.
“I can’t be happier; the guys have been unreal the last few weeks with how hard they’ve worked, particularly since my crash in Sydney and then getting everything back together and working the best it can,” said Dunker.
“The team has given me a great bike which meant I could show the pace I have and what I can do aboard the R1.”
Dunker was also hunting for a double podium in race two before being passed on the final lap by Nahlous, as

Waters made the outing his own after putting down the hammer from lap six – setting a pace that even Voight couldn’t match.
Roulstone was fifth from Halliday, Allerton and Simpson in an impressive deputisation role.
KAWASAKI SUPERSPORT AND SUPERSPORT NEXT GEN
High drama and heroics in Kawasaki Supersport/Next Gen, with Tom Toparis (Stop and Seal Ducati) and Hayden Nelson (BCperformance Kawasaki) winning the two races and polesitter Olly Simpson (DesmoSport Ducati) an early casualty in race one to bring his campaign to a premature end.
Toparis’ day also turned sour when he crashed on the sighting lap of race two after precipitation swept across the circuit, leaving a depleted 10-rider field.
After hostilities had ended, Jake Farnsworth (Yamaha) retained his 2pt lead in the Supersport class over Valentino Knezovic (Addicted to Track Yamaha), while Nelson is the new Supersport Next Gen leader ahead of teammate Tom Edwards, with Simpson dropping back to third.
In race one, Toparis checked out after Simpson’s demise to win by over one second, while it was an epic battle for the runner-up position with Knezovic scoring a breakout rookie result in second from Nelson, Edwards, Farnsworth and Jordy Simpson (Yamaha).
The second nine-lapper boiled down to a BCperformance Kawasaki benefit, with Nelson just edging out Edwards by 0.196secs, followed by Farnsworth, Knezovic, Simpson and Josh Soderland (Yamaha), who retains third in the Supersport standings.
RACE AND ROAD SUPERSPORT 300
Riley Nauta (Champions Ride Days Kawasaki) was the big Race and Road Supersport 300 mover at The Bend, with his 10-1-1 results seeing him surge to second in the standings behind New Zealander Tyler King (Kawasaki).
King leads by 27pts, and then it’s a logjam: Nauta is on 122pts ahead of teammate Orlando Peovitis (121pts), Tara Morrison (Kawasaki, 121pts), Jordy Simpson (Yamaha, 112pts), Seth Dellow (TeamBWR Yamaha, 112pts), Rossi McAdam (Yamaha, 105pts) and Phoenix O’Brien (Blue Marlin Pools Racing Yamaha, 102pts).
Matthew Ritter (Kawasaki) is next, and it was the Victorian who won his first Supersport 300 race on a wet Saturday afternoon where attrition was huge: including King, who was able to remount and resume, while a bone-jarring tangle between Jake Senior (Blue Marlin Pools Racing Yamaha) and Alvin Wu (Addicted to Track Yamaha) took them both out of calculations.
At the front, Ritter just edged out local star Morrison,
while Dellow was third.
LAST TIME OUT (CONT.)
On Sunday, it was the same trifecta in both races: Nauta with just too much late speed and guile ahead of King and Peovitis. Morrison was fourth in both outings while Ritter and Simpson shared the fifth places.
BLU CRU OCEANIA JUNIOR CUP
The BLU CRU Oceania Junior Cup’s appetite for extremely close and competitive racing played out again at The Bend from May 1-3, as three different winners were crowned across the five-lap races.
With the diminutive Yamaha YZF-R15s pushed to the limit around the expansive 18-turn Tailem Bend layout – and strong winds also adding an X-factor – Ryder McKenna, Lucas Hyslop and Callum Campbell came up trumps in the three races as the 2026 championship reached the halfway mark.
For OJC rookie McKenna, it was his first victory in the circuit racing academy, and the South Australian won with plenty to spare over Liam Fookes (NT) and polesitter Austin Attard (Qld) as the OJC program opened at The Bend on Saturday afternoon.
While McKenna’s winning margin was atypical, normal service was resumed on Sunday as the two races went down to the wire.
New Zealander Lucas Hyslop – who sensationally won an OJC race at Phillip Island in 2025 as a wildcard –outlasted Campbell (NSW) and Lewis Birkle (WA) in a Sunday morning sizzler, with Attard, Thomas Cameron (NSW), Kael Brien (Qld) and Fookes were also in the frame during a hammer-and-tongs run to the chequered flag. The gap between the top seven was just 0.179 seconds.
The tempo went into overdrive during the frenetic last lap, with Birkle setting the fastest lap across the three races.
The Bend finale saw Campbell win his second OJC race after a stirring final lap where he moved up three spots from fourth to first.
After a clean sweep in round one, Cameron still leads the OJC standings but with a reduced cushion. He’s now on 124pts, with Campbell (112pts) moving up to second ahead of Attard (106pts), Patrick Lucchitti (91pts), Hyslop (88pts) and Fookes (88pts).
MORGAN PARK RACEWAY PREVIEW
With two rounds left in the 2026 ASBK Championship, it’s now crunch time for the class contenders to stand up and lay claim for title glory –and the late-season flurry all starts at the tight and twisty Morgan Park Raceway.
SW-MOTECH SUPERBIKE
In the SW-Motech Superbike category, Harrison Voight has an 11-point lead over teammate Josh Waters at McMartin Racing Ducati after round three at The Bend, with Jacob Roulstone (Motocity Honda) a further 12pts adrift – although he won’t compete at Morgan Park as he remains overseas with European Moto2 commitments.
Meanwhile, it will be the first Superbike appearance at Morgan Park for Voight, at a circuit which has a real technical edge.
Winner of race one at The Bend, Cameron Dunker (Blue Marlin Pools Racing Yamaha), is 11pts behind Roulstone – then it’s just 14pts separating Dunker through to Jonathan Nahlous (Yamaha Racing Team), with Cru Halliday (Stop and Seal Ducati) and Glenn Allerton (Superbike Advocates Racing Ducati) sandwiched in between.
Voight, Nahlous and Roulstone all competed in round one of the 2026 European Moto2 title at Catalunya last weekend, with Roulstone the best-placed of the trio with two second places.
Sitting in an uncustomary eighth position is three-time Superbike champion, Mike Jones (Yamaha Racing Team). He’s had a sobering start to the year, culminating with his worst results in an ASBK race at The Bend – but his resurgence could come at a circuit where the 32-year-old has finished on the podium in nine of the last 10 Superbike races. And it almost definitely would have been a perfect record if he didn’t retire from race one in 2025 with a mechanical issue.
It’s a consistent run of brilliance that places him as warm favourite on the sweet-handling Yamaha for round four – and then we all know he’s extremely hard to conquer at Queensland Raceway as well, which will host the grand finale. Championship success in 2026 may be long odds for Jones, but he can certainly have a major bearing on the points table.
Also, look out for reigning Superbike No. 3 Anthony Wrest (DesmoSport Ducati), who sat out The Bend races after injuring his right hand in a qualifying crash. West finished on the 2025 podium at Morgan Park in race one behind Waters and Broc Pearson.
Jack Favelle (Addicted to Track Yamaha), Marcus Hamod (Motocity Honda), John Lytras (Yamaha) and Ty Lynch (AMR Motorsports Yamaha) will also be pushing hard at Morgan Park.
KAWASAKI SUPERSPORT
The Kawasaki Supersport and Supersport Next Gen classes have produced intense competition from the outset of 2026, with the machines – and the riders aboard them – evenly matched.
With its tight nature, Morgan Park could take the fireworks to another level – with late braking and a healthy doses of brawn thrown in.
Jake Farnsworth (Yamaha) has really hit his straps in the Supersport class and has become a regular visitor to the top step of the podium.
But it’s tight. Farnsworth leads the class by just 2pts over rising talent Valentino Knezovic (Addicted to Track Yamaha), followed by Josh Soderland (Yamaha).
In the Next Gen class, BCperformance Kawasaki duo Hayden Nelson (146pts) – who’s lighting fast around Morgan Park – and Tom Edwards (142pts) lead the way from Olly Simpson (DesmoSport Ducati, 108pts).
RACE AND ROAD SUPERSPORT 300 AND BLU CRU R3 CUP
The Race and Road Supersport 300 championship season is becoming a case of who can maintain consistency.
After three rounds and eight races, every rider in the top 10, bar leader Tyler King (Kawasaki), has at least one hard-luck story. But that’s the nature of such a hard-fought class.
King has a huge 27pt (149 to 122) lead over Riley Nauta (Champions Ride Days Kawasaki, who won twice at The Bend to leapfrog up the standings.
Nauta’s teammate Orlando Peovitis and Tara Morrison (Kawasaki) are tied in equal third on 121pts.
Just like The Bend, where Matthew Ritter (Yamaha) won his first race, Morgan Park could also spring an upset or two where stealth, cunning and corner speed will be all-important.
Meanwhile, it’s round two for the BLU CU R3 Cup, where the racing is as frantic as Supersport 300. Oscar Lewis leads his younger brother Connor by only 2pts, with Jordy Simpson third.
BLU CRU OCEANIA JUNIOR CUP
The BLU CRU Oceania Junior Cup’s appetite for extremely close and competitive racing continues unabated in 2026, with the kids competing like there’s a chequered flag at every corner!
The fleet of diminutive Yamaha YZF-R15s will appreciate Morgan Park’s smaller confines, with jockeying for positions expected to continue until the final milliseconds.
Thomas Cameron leads the way from Callum Campbell and Austin Attard, with class rookie Patrick Lucchitti fourth in the official Australian Junior Road Racing Championship.
Expressions of interest are now open for the 2027 OJC Championship, open to riders 11-U16. Registrations close on July 24. For more information and to apply for the 2027 grid (starting November 2026), head to the OJC page on the ASBK website.
SUPERBIKE MASTERS
The popular historic motorcycle racing category will make its first appearance under the ASBK umbrella at Morgan Park Raceway, open to Period 6 (1983-1990) and – for the first time – Period 7 (1991-1999) machines.
The outright winner of the series will again be awarded the ‘Darren Lark Superbike Masters Cup Perpetual Trophy’ in honour of the late Darren Lark who was a tireless champion of the class and the characters who race them.

With the eighth season of BLU CRU Oceania Junior now underway, 17 riders are competing for glory in the revered junior circuit racing academy.
The 2026 OJC roster – from all parts of Australia and New Zealand – includes 11 rookies, while the balance is returning to the academy which provides young riders with everything they need to develop skills, race craft, confidence and professionalism: identical Yamaha YZF-R15s, LS2 helmets, Ricondi riding gear and bespoke coaching led by former 500 GP race winner Garry McCoy.
The developmental credentials of the OJC have consistently been highlighted since the category’s inception in 2019, providing a rock-solid platform for riders to embrace the challenge – and turn heads –in other circuit racing series across the globe.
The 2026 OJC began under lights at Sydney Motorsport Park on March 27-28 before visiting The Bend (May 1-3), with Morgan Park Raceway (May 29-31) and Queensland Raceway (June 26-28) to see out the season – all in conjunction with the 2026 Penrite Australian Superbike Championship presented by Pirelli (ASBK).
The OJC also has official Australian Junior Road Race Championship status.

The popular historic motorcycle racing category will make its first appearance under the #ASBK2026 umbrella at Morgan Park Raceway from May 29-31, open to Period 6 (1983-1990) and – for the first time –Period 7 (1991-1999) machines.
The outright winner of the series will again be awarded the ‘Darren Lark Superbike Masters Cup Perpetual Trophy’ in honour of the late Darren Lark who was a tireless champion of the class and the characters who ride them.
