Last year’s show at Tatton Park was a true celebration of American motoring, with a huge variety of vehicles on display, from classic Corvettes and muscle cars to custom hot rods, big rigs, and Harley-Davidsons. Club displays were out in force, with the Classic Corvette Club UK leading the way. Standout vehicles included a freshly imported ’67 Camaro SS, a Glasgow-driven ’73 Mustang Mach 1, and the eye-catching Car of the Year winner: a stunning 1955 Dodge Royal Lancer. With new cars appearing each day and plenty of crowd favourites returning, it was a weekend packed with passion, horsepower and chrome.

The Stars & Stripes show powered by Hagerty wouldn’t be complete without the Corvette Club UK, the American Auto Club North West (AACNW) and the Cheshire Car Club. From iconic Sting Rays to thunderous muscle cars and vintage cruisers, these two clubs bring the best of American motoring to life. Expect roaring V8s, polished chrome, and plenty of passion from the proud owners behind the wheel. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or new to the scene, their displays are a must-visit celebration of classic Americana.
As always at the Classic American Stars & Stripes show powered by Hagerty there will be a standout selection of American cars, trucks and motorbikes.
To prepare you for the show take a look at these four American classics, each with a story and a serious presence.
One of the standout stars of the show is a factory Limelight Green 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, originally built in December 1969 over in California. Born with a factory 383ci big block V8 and paired with a 727 Torque ite automatic transmission, this ‘Cuda captures the golden era of Mopar muscle. But this isn’t just a time capsule, it’s a proper Day 2 street machine.
The upgrades are pure performance and attitude: a Holley Street Demon carb atop a Holley Street Dominator intake, a hydraulic lifter cam, Doug’s long tube headers, and a full 3in Flowmaster exhaust bring serious growl and grunt. Riding on 15x8 front and 15x10 rear American Racing Torq Thrust 2 wheels wrapped in Cooper Cobra white letter tyres, the stance
is aggressive and period-correct.
Superstock springs with a 2in lift, a front splitter and a rear deck spoiler complete the muscle-era makeover.
Imported in 2018 and now based in Scotland, this ‘Cuda has been a familiar face at car shows and cruises since its purchase in 2020. It’s no garage queen either – it regularly rips down the strip at Santa Pod, clocking consistent 13-second runs.
Few muscle cars have earned a place in pop culture quite like the Dodge Charger, and this slick 1970 machine is certainly a stunner. Whether it’s outrunning Steve McQueen in Bullitt, ying over dirt roads as the General Lee, or burning through screen time in The Fast and the Furious, the Charger has always played the bad boy. With more than 300,000 built in its heyday, the Charger was the de nition of American muscle excess - long, low and loud.
More than just a cool cruiser, the Charger always symbolised danger and edge. As one enthusiast at the show put
it, “bad guys always drive Chargers.” And really, what other car can be both the villain and the star?
Imported from southern California in 2018, this raven black 1966 Ford Mustang is a rolling restoration with bite. It’s been driven, enjoyed and continually improved over six years. With a sleek black and white custom leather interior, it offers just enough ash to match its classic form. This pony car proves you don’t need a re-breathing V8 to turn heads. With its chrome accents and unmistakable 1960s silhouette, it captures the spirit of freedom and versatility. Can you really call it an American car show without a Mustang like it …
Last but far from least is a stunning Pontiac GTO, packing serious upgrades under its classic lines. Originally restored in the US about 12 years
ago, the car then lived in Spain before settling in the UK. Under the bonnet lies a 455ci GTO engine from the early 1970s – a torque-rich powerhouse upgraded with Mallory ignition, a Holley carb, Edelbrock intake, and a Crane Energizer cam and lifter setup.
It’s mated to a Muncie four-speed manual with a Hurst shifter and a heavy-duty clutch, offering smooth gear changes with race-car engagement.
A 3.08 rear gear ratio (new for 2024) gives this GTO the best of both worlds: strong off-the-line punch and relaxed motorway cruising.
Inside, attention to detail continues with a newly refurbished dash, working interior lights and a modern retro radio that enhances the driving soundtrack – second only to the raw roar of its Magna ow dual exhausts. It’s a showwinner, too, having been a nalist at the Harewood car rally and a prize-winner at Stars and Stripes in the past.
Whether you’re a die-hard Mopar fan, a Ford purist, or just love the sound of classic American V8 thunder, these four icons at Tatton Park promise to deliver nostalgia, power and pure automotive presence.
