The Stray Cat Rescue and Protection Society (SCRAPS) is a volunWHHU OHG QRQ SUR¿W RUJDnization founded in 2011 to address stray cats and kittens in the communiW\ 7KLV VSULQJ 6&5$36 0RRVH -DZ LV DVNLQJ IRU \RXU VXSSRUW WKURXJK D ULE QLJKW IXQGUDLVHU DW 7KH Crushed Can. 7KH XSFRPLQJ IXQGraiser will take place May 4th, runs from 4:30 – 8 p.m., and includes a halfrack of ribs, salad, and an accompaniment. ³7KH XSFRPLQJ PHDO is just another (one of our unique) ways to raise funds, because we’re alZD\V QHHGLQJ RQJRLQJ VXSSRUW ¿QDQFLDOO\ WR EH able to do our spays and neuters…,” explained SCRAPS volunteer Anne Marciszyn. Most of the proceeds support medical expenses such as treatments and vaccines, and funds help support the TNR (trap, release, DQG QHXWHU SURJUDP When cats are reported or otherwise located, volunteers take the cat into their care and start with a veterinary check-up. Strays are then spayed or neutered to help conWURO WKH IHUDO SRSXODWLRQ JLYHQ XSGDWHG YDFFLQHV DQG PLFUR FKLSSHG to keep tabs on their whereabouts. After this process has been completed, cats with a clean bill of health are released and monitored on a continual basis.
