Central to the identity of the Costume Designers Guild is the iconic Adrian statuette given at the yearly awards gala. Nearly 30 years after Bvlgari minted the original, the Guild is proud to announce a renewed global partnership with the Roman fashion company commemorating a shared Hollywood heritage. To celebrate,
Bvlgari has introduced a new edition of the original statuette, which was envisioned by designer David Le Vey, for the first Costume Designers Guild Awards. Le Vey was inspired by the aesthetics of the 19th-century sculptor Canova and the surrealism of Dali. He wanted to capture the moment from the Gene Kelly/
Cyd Charisse “Broadway Melody” dance sequence in Singin’ in the Rain. The costume designed by Walter Plunkett takes on a life of its own when the fabric streamer billows to the ceiling. The result interpreted in a statuette has stood the test of time as one of the most beautiful awards of the season.
“This partnership allows us to honor creativity in its purest form, celebrating the extraordinary artists who bring imagination to life on screen. We are proud to stand alongside them, united
by a shared devotion to craftsmanship, beauty and the enduring magic of cinematic artistry,” said Jean-Christophe Babin, Bvlgari CEO.
Part of the LVMH Group, Bvlgari was founded in the heart of Rome in 1884. Over the years, the brand has established itself throughout the world as a symbol of excellence in high jewelry and as an icon of Italian beauty and the art of living, thanks to its exquisite master craftsmanship, visionary design and bold color combinations.

To My Fellow Members,
The 28th Costume Designers Guild Awards features some of the most accomplished nominees I’ve seen in my career. What’s even more extraordinary is that the amazing work done by our costume designer, assistant costume designer and illustrator members happened in a year that opened with the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles and remained overshadowed by an industry contraction. I’m incredibly proud to help recognize this year’s examples of artistry, craftsmanship and resilience.
I’m also proud to salute the leadership of Local 892 and the Guild’s Executive Director, Brigitta Romanov. CDG Local 892 has been at the forefront of the IATSE’s coordinated response to support members impacted by the Altadena and Palisades wildfires. These tireless efforts uplift every IATSE member. This has been an inspiration to me and all those who work alongside the Guild.
These efforts also helped foster the incredible solidarity that Guild members demonstrate. As we enter the next bargaining cycle, that solidarity will help ensure we can continue to work under fair contracts that reflect the contributions our members make to all their projects.
Congratulations to every member involved in this inspiring event and here’s to our continued success in 2026.
In solidarity,
Michael F. Miller, Jr. International Vice President Department Director, Motion Picture and Television Production

A Message From the Executive Director
For nearly three decades, the Costume Designers Guild Awards have stood as both a celebration and a commitment: a celebration of extraordinary artistry, and a commitment to the union principles that protect and sustain our craft.
Costume design is storytelling in its most intimate form. It requires vision, historical understanding, technical mastery, and deep collaboration. The CDG Local 892 exists to ensure that the artists who bring characters to life through costume are recognized not only for their creativity, but for their labor. Unionism makes that possible. It safeguards creative authority, protects fair credit and compensation, and allows costume designers, assistant costume designers, and costume illustrators to build lasting careers in an ever-changing industry.
The CDGA reflects more than excellence on screen—it reflects the strength of collective action. Costume designers, assistant designers, and illustrators all contribute essential artistry to the costume design process, and our IATSE Local 892 has continued to evolve to ensure that every classification is seen and valued. By honoring the full scope of our membership, we reaffirm a foundational union truth: our work is strongest when we stand together.
For 28 years, the CDG has sponsored and elevated the art of costume design while advocating fiercely for those who practice it. Recognition and protection go hand in hand. The awards are not only about honoring achievement, but about reinforcing the dignity of the profession and the power of solidarity.
As we gather to celebrate this year’s honorees, we do so with gratitude for our shared history and confidence in what we can accomplish together. The future of costume design, and of our union, is woven from unity, respect, and collective purpose.
With admiration and respect for all who make this work possible,
In solidarity,

A Message From the President
Returning to the elegant Ebell of Los Angeles to celebrate our 28th CDGA nominees, we welcome an esteemed partner: the inimitable Bvlgari. This internationally revered company minted our first beautiful trophy statuette, the Adrian, and we are honored to embrace their artistry once again.
This is an evening of renewal. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, our industry, vendors, and benevolent nonunion organizations all rallied to support our community in need. We are indebted and grateful for their ongoing consideration.
My eternal thanks to Vogue World creator Anna Wintour, her Condé Nast team, and the Entertainment Community Fund. Ms. Wintour graciously dedicated the LA Vogue World ticket sales to benefit our members devastated by the fires. Extraordinary costume designers collaborated with Vogue World by revisiting many of their iconic designs with an eye to fashion. We are indebted to Colleen Atwood, Ruth E. Carter, Arianne Phillips, Sandy Powell, Jacqueline West, Shirley Kurata, Milena Canonero, and Catherine Martin.
This evening celebrates the creativity and value costume design brings to production. Every year our designers take our breath away. Be it contemporary, fantasy, or period, their designs tell a character’s story through both nuanced and bombastic aesthetic choices. We honor the work, artistry, and unique storytelling talents of those chosen to represent the best of costume design by their peers and colleagues.
In an ever-changing industry, we are proud to recognize this year’s honorees. Each and every one is a true visionary who has highlighted, stylized, or redirected our cultural zeitgeist. We are humbled by their work and excited to cheer their continued success!
Celebrate!
In solidarity,
Terry Ann Gordon

It’s impossible to discuss ‘90s television without mentioning In Living Color. The show’s dancers, the Fly Girls, became fashion symbols. The comedy, characters, and music became part of the cultural landscape, and featured costumes designed by the indelible Michelle R. Cole.
For decades Cole has shaped fashion and pop culture. Her résumé reads like a timeline of powerful, emblematic styles with smart tailoring and bold, saturated colors. With over 100 episodes of The Bernie Mac Show, four seasons of Soul Man, and two seasons of Martin, Cole’s work was both aspirational and attainable to audiences. She projected style and elegance into Tisha Campbell’s Regina in Martin to Yara Shahidi’s Gen Z style evolution through her character Zoey, from Black-ish through Grown-ish. Cole designed a staggering 233 episodes for those two shows, including the groundbreaking Juneteenth episode.
It’s surprising that Cole never even intended to work in television. Having fallen in love with costume design through theater, Cole didn’t expect her career would lead her through a roster of some of the biggest sitcoms in modern TV. What’s more, in an industry that has not always embraced a diverse perspective, she often navigated her career in uncharted territory.
Cole sits on the boards for the St. Joseph’s Center and Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Cole mentors future costume designers through the Mildred Blount Scholarship Fund, which she established along with costume designers Ruth E. Carter, Sharen Davis, and Francine Jamison-Tanchuck. Cole remains one of Hollywood’s leading creatives, a nine-time Emmy nominee, and has served on the board of the Costume Designers Guild.

Avatar is the highest-grossing film in history with more than $2.8 billion in global box office, beating the previous record holder, Cameron’s own film Titanic, which held that record for 12 years. Cameron’s films have also earned numerous nominations and awards—most notably Titanic, with 14 Academy Award nominations (a record) and 11 Oscars (also a record), including Cameron’s own three Oscars for Best Picture, Best Direction, and Best Editing. Both Titanic and Avatar won Golden Globes for Best Director and Best Picture. Avatar was nominated for nine Academy Awards and won three.

The CDG is happy to announce the official registration of the “Naked Without Us” slogan as a trademark. Originally conceived by costume designer Nancy Steiner as a hashtag which became a hallmark of the effort for equal pay and recognition for costume design with other departments in the entertainment industry. As part of the campaign, the catchphrase was embraced by celebrities and performers who not only understood the importance of costume design in the development and presentation of their characters, but that they would truly be “Naked Without Us.”
CDG President Terry Gordon describes the importance of the tagline. “For decades our costume designers have received one of the lowest base salaries of the crafts. We successfully raised public and industry awareness to the value we bring to production. The greatest evidence of this was Jimmy Kimmel with a ‘nude’ John Cena on stage at the Oscars® announcing the Costume nominees. He succinctly stated and cemented the importance of costumes to a global audience and visually represented our now copyrighted slogan, “Naked Without Us.”
As the campaign grew, the term became more and more directly associated with the CDG and the efforts of the Guild’s members. Now, with the trademark of the term, that relationship is official.

Tonight’s honorees were selected by the members of the Costume Designers Guild, IATSE Local 892, as a tribute to their efforts and achievements in the entertainment industry. A slate of distinguished costume designers were nominated and voted upon by the Awards Steering Committee, resulting in the Career Achievement Award Honoree.
A three-stage ballot process decided the nominees for the competitive awards.
For all categories, costume designers were asked to submit eligible projects released between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025. Competitive awards are open to all designers given the credit of costume designer, regardless of union affiliation.
Costume Designers Guild members nominated five candidates for excellence in the following categories: Contemporary Film; Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film; Period Film; Contemporary Television; Sci-fi/Fantasy Television; Period Television; Variety, Reality-Competition, Live Television; Short Form Design; and four candidates for Costume Illustration. In the event of a tie, a sixth nominee is added to the category.
The entries receiving the most votes in each category—Film, Television, Short Form, and Illustration— became the nominees for the final ballot.
The costume designers receiving the majority of votes in each category will become the award recipients tonight.
Nomination and final ballots were tallied online by awardforce.com.
